Marissa Hearth followed her cell walls around her, until she completed the full square. She loved the cell’s padded walls. She loved the whiteness that surrounded her. She loved how she no longer knew which way was up and which way was down. She loved how she no longer knew herself anymore; they had taken this all away from her. There was nothing in the room but padding. White, dull padding that had drove Marissa insane. They had silenced her. That’s what they were best at; silencing people.
Marissa fell, landing heavily onto the hard padding below her. She let out a deluded giggle. She did this most; it was her favourite thing to do, pretend she was lying on the roof looking down at the ground. She didn’t know the difference anymore, the laws of gravity irrelevant. Her black hair strewn across the white ground looked like an ink stain on a bright white carpet. Her arms crossed into her chest, restricted by the straight jacket, pale skin, almost as white as the padding.

The Living Skeleton
Henry's mouth hung open as he stared at Skulduggery. Skulduggery looked back at him, unmoving, but it was already too late. "You-... You're... You're a skeleton..."
Skulduggery shrugged, and Henry jumped backwards in surprise. Skulduggery made a sound like he was clearing his throat awkwardly and replied, "Yes, yes I am, actually."
Henry stared, his mouth, once again, agape, "No, no way. You must be... you're a... I know! You're animated, right? You're... you're like a Halloween decoration... right?"
Skulduggery paused for a moment, then lifted his arms in robotic fashion. When he spoke, his voice was devoid of emotion as he tried his best to be a robot "You... caught me... Henry. Good... job..."
Henry slowly shut his mouth, and he put on his best withering glare. Skulduggery kept up the act for a minute more before he gave up, dropping his arms to his sides.
"Ok, no, I am not Halloween decoration, and may I just say, thank you so very much for demeaning my character." He straitened his tie and stood a little taller.
That's when Henry started asking questions, and Skulduggery began explaining the world of magic.

Oh, okay. I'll start from the beginning, four years ago. I came home from school one day, and my mom and da said they had to tell us something, and then they said that my da was leaving us. I said where, and as it turns out, my parents were getting a divorce.
Anyway, as I found out, my da was probably cheating on my mom with one of his fricking employees, and is -now- married to her.
Sorry, but she is SUCH a bitch...
And she's got two children, and well, they had trouble with their biological father (who was basically a drunkard, amongst other darker stuff)
Not to mention, I have to fly 1000 miles from my home every time I get to see my da. And now I'm staying at his house for 3 weeks... And I can't ever have a summer to myself, because in my family, me and my brothers are basically a rope in a tug-of war game.
I don't get to see my cats, my friends, my mom, my books, nothing for just a long while... And my da, bless him, he tries to make it up to us by taking us places and spending money on us, but it just doesn't make us HAPPY. We want time with him. But he's off working or with his wife.
Its just to aggravating!!!

No matter what happens in life, there always comes a point when two adults have to make the right decision in the long run.
Now I know it is a pain in the arse for you, it sounds like a right pain in the arse. But your mam and dad made a brave choice, one that not many couples do. They put their children first and got out of a toxic relationship.
And you have to hand it to your dad, at least he is making the effort and trying, some fathers unfortunately don't.
My advice? Make the most of the summer with your dad, never mind the new wife. He is your dad first and you should make the most of the time you have, every time your with him. Plus the more time you spend with one another, the more he'll get to know you and the trying will just become effortless and your dad will know you and understand you completely.
