Down Under Tour 2012

Righto, I can finally reveal the details for the A/NZ Down Under Tour. Most of the days will be taken up visiting schools, so I'm only listing the public events which will occur in the evenings and at the weekends.

For the public signings, all you have to do is turn up and I'll sign as much as possible in the time I have- but for the public events, it might be a good idea to contact the bookshop/library/whatever as soon as possible, in order to book a place.

The Ireland and UK details will be posted when I have them.

Oh, and for those of you who entered the little short story competition on the Skulduggery website, I've just read through the finalists (30 of them) and the winners will be announced before the weekend. Some truly great work in there...

  1. I can't believe that worked.

anyways... I'm almost done with my second book! YAYYYY! And I'm going to be in Ireland soon after! YAYYYY! This life just keeps getting better and better...

Oh, and by the way, I love the way you release the first chapter, but I just can't help but feel that it only adds to the suspense of waiting for the newest book. It's a bittersweet read. But I love it! Fabulous, absolutely fabulous.

-Molly, compiled happiness caousing her to dance around the room to the newest Avett Bros. song. What.

  3. Yay! I hope I win, I probably won't though, I'd say Derek would probably have laughed his head off at my terrible writing skills..... :( Ah, well, if your not in, you can't win. Can't wait to find out the Ireland details, hopefully I'll be seeing you in Drogheda soon! :D Yay! xx

  9. NJ! I'm going to DisneyLand Next year. Of course, I'll be 15.... But you're NEVER EVER EVER too old for Disney. Never. I still cry at the Lion King. :'( (But yet I sat and laughed my head off at Paranormal Activity....) :P ;)

    ReplyDelete
  10. I know!! DISNEY IS TOO AWESOME!!
I remember I went when I was 6 (I'm 15 now actually), and I was to small to go on any of the good rides!! But that was made up for Yesterday!!
And I arrived home there at 6 but it's okay because I got loads of Photos. Maybe I'll put them up on my blog... But no one will want to see my French trip photos would they??

    ReplyDelete
  11. Also, Hello Willow Storm (Have we met?)
    And Hey Valkyrie!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I've never been to Disney. ME WANTY GO!

    ReplyDelete

Also drop some subtle and not-so-subtle hints :P

    ReplyDelete
  15. I want to see Disney again! All my photos got lost cus someone stole our camera, and I haven't been since I was 6 too. And I had my 7th Birthday there, with Mickey and Minnie! :'( It was awesome, and now I don't even have any photos. They should make a Disney in every country. Especially Ireland. :P

    ReplyDelete
  16. OMG WILLOW!! HI *hugs*
    How're you?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  17. 'OH MOTHER, FATHER..... ISN'T DISNEY LAND SUCH A WONDERFUL PLACE...?'

  18. I live in Ireland!! *is proud*
I am actually from northern Ireland but consider myself Irish and not British, what does that tell ye? :P

    ReplyDelete
  19. NJ. Are we the same person or something?! I'm From NI too, but I'm 100% PURE IRISH. AND PROUD. :)

Why are you confused Willow?? Come and talk to dear old Agony Aunt NJ :) :P

    ReplyDelete
  21. I wouldn't say it here, no offence. It's a bit private.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm very 'Country-Irish'. I'm not a farmer, or anything, but I live in the country and have some animals. Two donkeys, two sheep and 30 chickens. And getting 3 pigs. And had an allotments. And I live on Horse Back ( See my picture<<<<) Okay, maybe yes I'm a farmer, hehe :P But I love the country <3 <3 :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kinda but not really. I don't like Valkyrie Cain in the books. (especially book 6). Just my opinion. I love Fletcher. FanFic and everything about that :P Also a little short fic where he helps out China, who is- in my opinion- completely awesome and brilliant and fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I LIVE ON FARM!! Farmers Daughter and all!! My dad is also a sheep shearer!! Who has won competitions and all.
    Yeah.

@Willow: no offence taken. Completely understandable. Just saying if you do ever want to talk or anyone for that matter- except people I don't really like- are more than welcome to talk to me!

    ReplyDelete
  25. My ALL-TIME Fave Character is probably Tanith. I literally cried when she wasn't in the books after MC. And that was only ONE BOOK. So, she'd better come back. But If SP Ever became a film, I'd audition for Valkyrie. :) But the books are ALWAYS Better than the films. Especially HARRY POTTER. *Hold sign that points at me saying *HUGE POTTER HEAD RIGHT HERE!!!!* :D I love Harry Potter.... <3

    ReplyDelete
  26. <3 Proud to be a farmers Daughter! Even though I rarely go out on the farm meself anymore :P

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's only us here, isn't it? Cool. If Derek was here, that'd be so cool, there wouldn't be like a gajillion people posting at the one time :D

    ReplyDelete
  28. I LOVE TANITH!!
I cried for her!! I also love Ghastly!! He is awesome!!
SPEAKING OF GHASTLY MY TWITTER TREND IS GOING TO BE USED FOR HIS BIRTHDAY!!
#GhastlyBespokeMasterTailor TREND IT!! PLEASE!! If you have twitter that is!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah!! It really is!!
I love my Fletcher! Fletcher Renn will forever be a babe to me!! I will forever adore him!! Whoever is cast to be him in the movies I will date and Marry! You can be sure of that!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ghanith<3 <3 <3 If those two DON'T get to be together again.... Derek, you'll have a lot of angry Ghanith fans out side your house!! ;) Hehe :P

    ReplyDelete
  31. AND I WILL BE THE ONE LEADING THE RAMPAGE!! Also, I have a blog about that, it's called 'DEREK LANDY GET TANITH LOW UNPOSSESSED'
How great of a Tanith fan am I? :P

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also from now on I think I may be declaring my undying love for Fletcher at the end of every comment, Maybe Derek will get the hint ;) :P

    ReplyDelete
  33. FLETCHER RENN 4 NJ MAVERICK FOREVZZ PEOPLEZ <3 <3 <3

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hehe, she's a GODDESS. A Sword Fighting, Blonde, British GODDESS. Derek- make a character called Colleen. It's a cool Irish name :) (yeah, yeah, it's also mine, woopdy-doo.....) ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Awesome! Derek you know I was thinking about Skullduggery's child, I think it should be a GIRL called Bryga (pronounced Bree-gah) and you should totally read my FanFic Betrayal to get some awesome Ideas :P

I LOVE FLETCHER HE IS MY ONE AND ONLY!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hello?? Anyone there??
    *shrugs*

I do declare that I am the only one for Fletcher Renn and He for I!!
I hope that makes since... If not:
FLETCHER RENN AND I ARE MADE FOR EACHOTHER!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is the quietest I've ever seen Blogland. Is everyone away... ? :'(

    ReplyDelete
  38. No, I killed them all *shifty eyes* *steps in front of the bodies to obscure peoples view*
*looms around* WHO SAID THAT?! :P

    ReplyDelete
  39. I KNEW it would be at Rundle Mall!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm pretty goose! What's a public event...?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Where he like, talks to an audience about himself and the books, I think, then does a signing I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  42. FLETCHER LOVES ME!!
    *walks away suspiciously*

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey Valkain! That's what I'm calling you. :D

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh cool! So I wouldn't have to go to the signing AND the event to get the full experience - I just go to the event?

    ReplyDelete
  45. No, Fletcher loves ME!

Haha. I say that to no one because I actually know someone called Fletcher Wren (Pronounced Renn), but anyway...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yup. That's what happened at the Edinburgh Book Festival back in August when I went. (I was on holiday it worked in well because of it, to save confusion)

    ReplyDelete
  47. No I love Fletcher more and he loves me. Read my FanFic!! That'll prove it!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yaaaaaaay!

I wonder what's more fun, standing in line going absolutely crazy with the Skulduggery madness or listening to Derek talk and then get him to sign your book.....can't decide....

    ReplyDelete
  49. Both are Epic!! Also if he has time... You can get a hug!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Noooooo! He loves ME! Why do you think he came to Australia, huh?

    HUH?

    ReplyDelete
  51. A HUG???

    Yesssssssssssss!

Also, you can have Fletcher, I have to go soon

    ReplyDelete
  52. To get away from Valkyrie! :P
Also My sister and Augurii were travelling the world and settled in Australia when the Australian Sanctuary offered us posts there so YEOO

    ReplyDelete
  53. I HOPE I was one of those thirty entries I hope I hope I hope

You'll tell me if I was one of the thirty, won't you, Derek?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yeah well, Adelaide has...

    RUNDLE MALL!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hope you were too Eve and YES I WIN HAHA :D

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes, you win. I have Finbar anyway. Sharon is a lucky gal. :P

    ReplyDelete
  57. Okay, I have to go to school soon, do I'm going to slowly and gently drag myself away from the warmth of blankets...that are pink....anyway, it was fun talking to you! Buh buh :D

    ReplyDelete
  58. Bye Eve Have fun at school! If that's possible, you never know, it might be for you :p

    ReplyDelete
  59. Disneyland was awesome. I went...maybe 4-5 years ago. Universal Studios is great too. (I went to Florida). Except for the heat stroke of course. But hey, you can't have it all. The Tower of Terror was awesome. The movie of it was pretty good too. The only two rides that I really REALLY didn't like was the Small, Small world and the Lilo and Stitch one. And then they flash bomb you in the dinosaur ride.

Universal is all around awesome. There's the Poseidon Run, The Mummy, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter.

    You know, awesomesauce incarnate stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The Big Bang Theory is an amazing show. Just throwing that out there.

    ReplyDelete
  61. If only I was rich enough to go to Universal. Especially to the Harry Potter place.... Derek, you'll take me won't you? Great, meet you at Dublin Airport next Saturday :P hehe, just joking. You're not taking me. You're taking ALL. OF. US. :P

    ReplyDelete
  62. Also, after going to those two theme parks, Canada's Wonderland sucks. I used to think that it was the greatest theme park ever. Of all time. (It was the biggest and best theme park I had been to up at that point). Even with the BEHEMOTH it has been rendered obsolete. And you can't go year round. (Everything's outside, and riding roller coasters outside in a blizzard does not sound fun).

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm also not a big fan of fairs. Their Elephant Ears, Beaver Tails, and Funnel cakes churn my stomach. (The smell).

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'd love to go to Universal again Derek. I can be the tour guide. I've been there at least three times.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Sorry I was sorting out stuff there. Also I have to go. I need to get to bed I have school tomorrow. I have CA can you believe that I have CA's 2 days before my Summer holidays!! What is my school playing at?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I also want to go to Australia. But I'd probably die there. If the heat doesn't kill me, something else will. The only dangerous things we have here in Canada are moose, bears, and possibly rattlesnakes somewhere very far from where I live. I'd want to pet everything.

    ReplyDelete
  67. derek what do you me by public event what will happen and will i be able to get something signed please someone answer if not derek a fellow minion i really need to know

    ReplyDelete
  68. ...A culminating activity?...

I hate those. And exams. I hate exams. My last one is tomorrow and then I AM DONE! No more school for 2 months or so.

    ReplyDelete
  69. And still no surprise trip to America... :(

    ReplyDelete
  70. Like an exam? Or a final project?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Same goes for me!
But it is ridiculous I can do it in september! But they're makingus do it tomorrow!! Seriously, what even? It's like 30% of my GCSE and it's a pile of Crap!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. It's a really stupid Subject too. Something I will never need!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Darn, I'm very likely NOT one of the thirty... The contest wouldn't let me enter so I tried emailing the Skulduggery email... Even if it was any good I doubt it entered :(

    ReplyDelete
  74. America's alright, but they don't have Timmies.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hey Derek, Flame Phoenix left a comment on my Blog asking *cough more like begging cough* me to post a link to his Blog.

    flamephoenixs.blogspot.ie

If you read it, apparently he'll "make all my wishes come through". So... yeah. You can go if you'd like...

    ReplyDelete
  76. On the brightside, Spanish is fairly easy after having taken (is that correct??) French and Italian.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Will he sign books at public events?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Timmies is Tim Hortons. A coffee shop.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oh. All we have is too many McDonald's. And after watching Supersize Me I never want to eat there again... I wish I lived in Ireland.

    ReplyDelete
  80. They also do not have Fries Supreme at Taco Bell. Instead it's Nachos Supreme, but that is less important. I also hate how they spell doughnut and colour.

However, I'm not bad mouthing America. There are just some differences I'm not used to. On the plus side, things are a lot cheaper there.

    ReplyDelete
  81. See Derek? I'm not the only one who wants you to come here!

    ReplyDelete
  82. For instance, my Converse that I bought there were only about $30. Here they're about $60 plus tax. So about $67.80 at final price.

    I love Converse.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I love when David Tennant wears Converse... My cousin got red ones for his birthday so he could dress like the Doctor.

    ReplyDelete
  84. But I, personally, do not wear Converse often. I wear black boots. I mean, if I had the all black ones I might wear them...

    ReplyDelete
  85. And I swoop in, like a sudden windstorm at a kindergarten picnic! By the way, you coming to the U.S. (Because there's more than one America) is a fantastic idea! Think of the Derek-starved minions, we could take you to see amazing sights like the world's largest ball of twine!

    ReplyDelete
  86. So long as you don't mind 13% taxed on everything (could be worse).

    ReplyDelete
  87. My old ones are a purple-y red. My newer ones are grey. I wanted Dr. Seuss Converse but they only make them for children...

You know what would be awesome? SP Converse. I'd wear them all the do-da day.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I've seen Vans shoes with the exploding TARDIS on them. I want those.

And SP Converse? I think I would die from their awesomeness...

    ReplyDelete
  89. We have maple syrup, the West Edmonton mall, beautiful landscapes (or something), the Calgary Stampede, and stuff. Lots of cool stuff. Like...the Royal Ontario Museum (a.k.a the ROM).

    ReplyDelete
  90. Or the Bonhomme Carnaval in Québéc. (Or winter carnival).

    ReplyDelete
  91. And of course Niagara Falls. Especially if you go to the touristy area. It's kind of cool to visit every once in awhile. And I think that the boat is still there.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Oh Canada.....

    That's all I know.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Well, um, about half an hour from here we have the Space Needle...

    ReplyDelete
  94. This comment has been removed by the author.

  95. O Canada,
    Our home and native land,
True patriot love, in all thy sons command

With glowing hearts, we see thee rise,
The true North strong and free,
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee

Et ta valeur, de froi trempée,
Protegeras, nos foyers et nos droits.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

My French is probably spelt wrong, and auto check does not like French apparantly.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I sat at a table for around four hours in between puking because of heat stroke in Florida...

    Good times...

What I did learn, is that they never change the songs at Universal. I came back five years later, they were still playing the same songs, in the same order.

    ReplyDelete
  97. How is it possible that you manage to be IN SYDNEY. But IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. At. The. Same. Time. TT_TT (There's not even a train station for Leichhardt... It's piggybacking off Petersham... And Mosman? Really? MOSMAN? Asdfwhy. Sadfais.)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Aww... too bad mary's gone..
    We could have shared inside-canada-jokes

    ReplyDelete
  99. *pouts in the corner&

What is WITH you people and cool accents?! I'm jealous. Mrejfashfjslkjgaldfjg...

    ReplyDelete
  100. DEREK LANDY...?
Can you draw skulduggery for us? It doesn't even have to be skulduggery, it can be... maybe a cake, or a skulduggery in a cake.

If I went to a signing I would probably try and get yuo to draw something.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Cool! I got on at the first 200! Hi guys!

Wait, scratch that. Gotta go. Bb in a while. Bye!

    ReplyDelete
  102. *frowns*

I was just on the Dymocks website and they haven't got Derek listed in the events section for Melbourne.

    Frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Stupid slack bookshop people.

    ReplyDelete
  104. WARNING!
If you see anything saying they are links to free clips of Justin Bieber's new album...
    DO NOT CLICK THEM!
They are links to free clips of Justin Bieber's new album.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Actually I didn't come up with that myself.

    Tumblr...

    ReplyDelete
  106. Ok gone now.
    Auf wiedersehen.

    ReplyDelete
  107. ^^Ditto with above comment^^

So glad I am sick today so that I can check this blog :)

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hi! Back. :)

Well, distant, but here. Checking in every few minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Well I just got to read this. Dang, Derek you seriously will be busy...oh and guess what? I was shopping at the mall. The guy at Barnes & Nobles actually knew who you were! I was trying to get The Faceless Ones and he got it ordered! Poor guy hasnt finished DB...told me where he was. Just at the Ball. So in conclusion, I got the book ordered and met a fellow Ameriminion.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Cool Zaf! Did you tell him about the blog? Love Barnes and Noble!

    ReplyDelete
  111. He knew he just didnt sign up. We had this discussion about how we wanted to go meet Derek. I told him I was going to use pitch forks and torches til Derek's publisher peoples saw sense. He agreed

    ReplyDelete
  112. *laughs*
Yeah, just get a riled up crowd of angry fans to persuade the publishers to bring him. :P That would be funny to see.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yeah that would be funny. I think we may terrify Derek but we dont bite.

*attacks a tree and mytters to self*

calm, Zafira calm down....dont make the Golden God think you insane...I am insane.

Ok im good I talked to myself

    ReplyDelete
  114. *laughs*

    ReplyDelete
  115. So do I lol. A lot. Meh its funny.

    Oooh I got to sleep.

Well, I've got something to occupy my time. Writing! Finally! Yay. ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  117. Oooh Derek,

    No trip to America? :c

    Ari is sad now.
    Make Ari happy? ^.^

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hi Ari. :)

You're from America, too? I'm from California, but visiting Korea for the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hello Lavender :3

Oh. Nice :) Korea? Do you have family there or are you just visiting?

    ReplyDelete
  120. I have family and friends. :)

Going to try to post some pictures of here on my random blog today. Here's a link if you want to take a look.

    http://blog-of-random-things.blogspot.kr/

    ReplyDelete
  121. Course I have .kr instead of .com now that I'm in Korea. That's weird.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Oh and since I'm in Korean time, it means I have lunch now. Sorry Ari. I gtg. Bye!

    Bbl, hopefully with pictures. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  123. C: Sweet.

Ah. I'll be sure to look at it then :D

I just came back from visiting Texas.
    Oh the heat -.-
I'm from Maryland, by the way :)

    ReplyDelete
  124. Totally fine. :)

    It's Midnight here though xD

    ReplyDelete
  125. I was the first one to ring up and order tickets for the brisbane signing.

Derek Landy I hope I can talk to you. You will know that if it's me because I will say "you don't have to smile of it hurts to much. I would like a hug though, are they encouraged?"

    ReplyDelete
  126. Derek- I will see you at Riverbend :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. I'll get my mum to buy the tickets tomorrow
5 PM though... i hope i can go...
    oh, btw OW!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yaaaaay! I'm going to the signing AND the event!

    ReplyDelete
  129. He's only comming once in melbourne... at a time i probably can't go at

    ReplyDelete
  130. it took me about two minutes to type that...

    ReplyDelete
  131. Hmmm...Gleneig...I think he meant Glenelg....

    ReplyDelete
  132. Glenelg spelled backwards is Glenelg :)

    ReplyDelete
  133. why do i have a feeling they named the town just for that?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Maybe. Or Maybe it's a Kaurna/Kuarna/whatever word.

    ReplyDelete
  135. It's a beachside suburb, my nana used to live there. Apparently, her house is haunted

OW! OH MY GOD, THIS HURTS! OW!

  137. Do you mean why I'm saying ow? Because your questions isn't the same as asking why I'm saying ow, your question is closer to asking what does ow mean

  139. In Death Bringer, chapter 29, page 294, first paragraph:
Valkyrie looked at Skulduggery. "He's lying," she said. "I now he's lying. Tell me. Skulduggery, tell me he's lying."
You and you editor(s) missed that 'k' instead of being know it's now. I ain't lying.

Nix, this is how my "ow" conversations normally work:

    "Ow"

    "What's ow?"

    "My shoulder's ow"

    "Ow."

    "Ow indeed."

My Owl conversations are completely different
