I actually agree with Star about the definition of magic. And although I disagree about mobile phones and planes being magic - to someone who has never seen the technology before, that is exactly what it would be, and that is (I think) what she was meaning. Every form of magic has a system in which it works, which supplies the "facts", in effect. It is just the facts that change in fiction writing. In that respect, magic is science, the science itself has just changed to something which does not fit our understanding of the real world.)

And, yeah, Sophia pretty much summed it up. Of course mobile phones aren't magic to us, because we've grown up seeing them as scientifical and ordinary. But if someone who lived a hundred years ago saw a mobile phone, they'd (probably. All people are different) see it as magical.
All magic has a scientifical explanation. To us, who aren't accoustomed to people firing fire (lol. Fire fire) out of their hands, such a thing seems magical. But to people who've grown up with that as we have mobile phones, in a world where such a thing is scientifically accepted and explained - they'd say that it wasn't magic at all, and us suggesting it was would be as absurd as me suggesting mobile phones are magic.
If you're talking about faith, then that's a VERRRRRRRYYYYYYYY great area because it is, by nature, not fact-based. So yeah. We have different opinions of the world. I just think that magic by your definition is an impossibility.

I am so oddly emotional today. I have cried like four times, and nothing bad has happened. Two were at songs and one was at a book. AND I DONT CRY AT BOOKS. Like I just don't. I barely did at the end of the Dying of the Light, and my love for Skulduggery Pleasant and everyone in the series is too deep to put into words. And the book I cried at was Last Stand of Dead Men, but not even chapter 51. It was that moment when Skulduggery misspoke at the end of chapter 69. Like I don't know why, I am just really emotional today.
Captain: They will be confiscated until Archeos decides what to do with you. Co- *he bursts into flames, screaming, running about before dropping to the floor, his armour melting*
Ember: *she frowns slightly, tilting her head, a few metres away from Morgan and the soldiers* Archeos is making the job of annoying Minerve and him far too easy. It is almost as if he wants me to piss him off. *she sends a stream of fire at one of the soldiers*
Soldier: *he deflects it with his sword, taking a step back* Shield up! *he raises his shield for protection, and the other soldiers do likewise*
@Andviolet: *shrugs* Might be hormones. Can cause me to be overly emotional.

(Ember is the daughter of the god of destruction. Yes, she has anger management issues. And all of her anger is directed towards Archeos and Minerve. Archeos for causing her to be locked up in Minerve's dungeon for a thousand years, and Minerve for torturing her for a similar amount of time. So yes, she is slightly psychotic.)

Parasite: What is Earth like, for you? I can see it in your memories, but I cannot see how you feel about it.

And if you are wondering why her own father would have her imprisoned for most of her life - at the time, Archeos was in a relatively weak place politically, and Ember had been causing trouble on the border between the realms which Archeos has more control over, and the realms which Minerve has more control over. Archeos wished to have Minerve as an ally, and when it came to a meeting between them - Minerve demanded that Ember would be imprisoned, in return for both of them to become allies. So Ember was sacrificed, effectively, to allow Archeos to gain back some political strength.)

I ded to randomness, because well why be normal? Randomness is brilliant, it makes people laugh (well should do anyway) it means you can do something out of what people would call the norm, randomness is happiness and well happiness is important

I want to add something I like that describes randomness really well:
I might be crazy, but at least I keep it interesting
Also I ded to Ember and all the other characters us authors have designed
This includes proper authors too
Because to me a good character is a well thought out one,
One who has their own agenda, detailed back story (well those are optional)
What makes a good character is, a character that is well written enough to make them see like a real person and when you read about such characters you get that feeling too, so well done all you authors with your amazing characters )

(The sons and daughters of the gods are generally used for political tools. Liliana, for example, was created in a time in which Minerve was fearing for her life. She planned for Liliana to be her replacement. That, or if she was very lucky, she would be able to possess Liliana at a later stage.
Bethany... Is an oddity, since she managed to escape from Minerve's clutches and fled to Phaestra instead. Phaestra does not use her daughters for political reasons, because she is somewhat more morally... correct than Minerve and Archeos are.)

More than likely, though, you would have been burned to a crisp. Fuck. No doubt Archeos will be sending something quite a bit more powerful now. *she sighs angrily* I'm Ember, by the way. So out of the big three (well the three i know of anyway) is that Phaestra, has a heart and she cares for the lives of her children (inc non biological ones) and she doesn't use them as tools, and well I like that

Arguably, there is no "big three". The most powerful gods are Phaestra and Minerve, who are essentially opposites. It is true that Phaestra has a heart and cares for the lives of her children. She is the goddess of life, light and creation so it is relatively understandable only by knowing her powers. Archeos is weak politically, and he tends to side with Minerve most of the time. He is, however, rather good at combat. Archeos' opposite would be probably Berengaria, the goddess of peace. Berengaria is very strong politically, but very weak in combat - simply because she cannot fight, although she has the power to cease everyone else fighting in her presence. Berengaria comes from Phaestra's family - they could be described as sisters.)
