Why is it that only the first three books are released over here in America? I've read all five books, but that's because my friend (Mar-Chu, actually) ordered the last two and let me borrow them. I find it strange because you're working on book six. Does it have something to do with the popularity of the books?
i am very excited about learning the name of the sixth book for you see i am NOT a very patient girl but i do know how to wield a sword and i agree it is very beautiful especially when they have ribbons at the end of the handles ANYWAY i have some more questions for you!!!

Skulgirl- Carol and Crystal are in the new book, but they're not as annoying as they once were, I promise.

I thoroughly enjoy the Skulduggery books, and am eagerly anticipating the next. Upon receipt of it, I will promptly saddle my long-suffering husband with our twin toddlers, and take off for parts unknown - to read and enjoy it in peace!

I've read that Warner Bros. has the rights to a film version, and mention has been made of a live-action film. I don't know how much input you may have into such a project, but just in case, I wanted to put forth the suggestion of Jude Law as the voice of Skulduggery Pleasant.
When I read your books, I imagine that Skulduggery sounds like Mr. Law, and as Mr. Law is aging out of his previous calibre of 'movie star' looks, he may well jump at the chance to be associated with such a hot property as I expect the eventual Skulduggery film to be.
He can probably be had quite cheaply at that point, and would therefore be an 'easy sell' to the studio higher-ups as a cost-effective and crowd-pleasing choice for a voice actor.
How much time, let's say in minutes/day, do you spend looking at LOLcats?

Cell phones are pretty ubiquitous in SP's world, but I don't think I've seen a computer even mentioned - I could be wrong on that, but I can't think of one right now. Where are the computers? A world without email - inconceivable!
Oh! Also, where does Ghastly get his fabric? I want some.... oh. Then I also need to know how he cuts and sews it. Do you have any information on that?
cause i just finished mortal coil the ending made me so sad when tanith was in love with scapegrace and skulduggery met lord vile then i was wondering if your going to write book 7 and they were going to start another war and tanith gets normal

Em- a group chat is a wonderful, if hugely daunting, idea...! I don't know how I'd cope with all you lunatics babbling away at once, but I'll mention it to my publishers as something we might do around publication.
Alexandre- happy belated birthday! My one piece of advice for new writers is to buy the Writer's Yearbook from any good bookshop. It lists the contact info for every publisher and agent, and the kind of stuff they're interested in. It also takes you through what you need to do when you send something off.
But the essential thing to remember is to forget about publishers for the time being- focus on the agent. Get the agent, and the agent will get you the publisher. The agent will be your guard dog and your attack dog. YOU'LL NEED AN AGENT!
Lara N- the rights WERE with Warners, but they've reverted back to me and I'm holding onto them for another few months, until I have time to go through the LA process all over again. That said, Jude Law DOES have an exceptionally smooth voice.
Ann Marie- You're quite right, I don't think I've mentioned computers yet...! If it helps, in the new book Val uses the internet on her phone to look up pictures of Dingoes.

In SP, there are a lot of car rides in the Bentley. And although the Bentley's pretty darn awesome, with Valkyrie in it, I would imagine that things would get extremely boring.
For instance, the drive to the Aranmore Farm. For Skulduggery, fine, right? He's a skeleton, he meditates a lot, and so is used to doing almost nothing for large amounts of time.
Valkyrie however-being a teenager and all-would be much more of a kind of fidgety person. I'm fifteen and the first thing i do whenever we have to drive absolutely ANYWHERE is take out my iPod. It calms me down, passes time, and holds a variety of my favorite songs.
So, do you think that we will ever see Val get an iPod or MP3 player? Yes, sure, she now has the weight of possibly bringing the world to a terrifying end, but every now and then she might have time for it, you know?

Internet has been working off and on a lot lately. That's one reason I haven't been around much. Also, there was a big, short storm last night. It was really crazy. Sheets of rain, omega wind, thunder and lightening like crazy, and HAIL! Can you believe it?!?! HAIL!?!?? It was HOT ALL day yesterday! I mean, not crazy hot, but, like, 68-75 degrees Fahrenheit. I think anyway, I didn't actually check the temperature, but it definitely didn't seem cold enough to HAIL!
It didn't last too long, though, fortunately, and the longest power outage lasted for about 5 seconds. It just kept blinking when thunder hit. :] That was good.

Em- a group chat is a wonderful, if hugely daunting, idea...! I don't know how I'd cope with all you lunatics babbling away at once, but I'll mention it to my publishers as something we might do around publication.
Alexandre- happy belated birthday! My one piece of advice for new writers is to buy the Writer's Yearbook from any good bookshop. It lists the contact info for every publisher and agent, and the kind of stuff they're interested in. It also takes you through what you need to do when you send something off.
But the essential thing to remember is to forget about publishers for the time being- focus on the agent. Get the agent, and the agent will get you the publisher. The agent will be your guard dog and your attack dog. YOU'LL NEED AN AGENT!
Lara N- the rights WERE with Warners, but they've reverted back to me and I'm holding onto them for another few months, until I have time to go through the LA process all over again. That said, Jude Law DOES have an exceptionally smooth voice.
Ann Marie- You're quite right, I don't think I've mentioned computers yet...! If it helps, in the new book Val uses the internet on her phone to look up pictures of Dingoes.

In SP, there are a lot of car rides in the Bentley. And although the Bentley's pretty darn awesome, with Valkyrie in it, I would imagine that things would get extremely boring.
For instance, the drive to the Aranmore Farm. For Skulduggery, fine, right? He's a skeleton, he meditates a lot, and so is used to doing almost nothing for large amounts of time.
Valkyrie however-being a teenager and all-would be much more of a kind of fidgety person. I'm fifteen and the first thing i do whenever we have to drive absolutely ANYWHERE is take out my iPod. It calms me down, passes time, and holds a variety of my favorite songs.
So, do you think that we will ever see Val get an iPod or MP3 player? Yes, sure, she now has the weight of possibly bringing the world to a terrifying end, but every now and then she might have time for it, you know?

Internet has been working off and on a lot lately. That's one reason I haven't been around much. Also, there was a big, short storm last night. It was really crazy. Sheets of rain, omega wind, thunder and lightening like crazy, and HAIL! Can you believe it?!?! HAIL!?!?? It was HOT ALL day yesterday! I mean, not crazy hot, but, like, 68-75 degrees Fahrenheit. I think anyway, I didn't actually check the temperature, but it definitely didn't seem cold enough to HAIL!
It didn't last too long, though, fortunately, and the longest power outage lasted for about 5 seconds. It just kept blinking when thunder hit. :] That was good.
Anyone on?
