I know we have a few minions in New Zealand who read this blog, and certainly one or two in Christchurch. Could you take a few moments to write a short comment, just to let us know you're all right after the quake?

The only time a member of my family died I tried to be optimistic but thats hard when the police say they have found a dead body and your uncles the only one not accounted for ...

Anything I want it to. It cannot be destroyed by anything either in existance or ever will be. It breaks all rules or sort of speak, if something is unbreakable, it can break it, if something is infinate, it can destroy it. I use it for good, bringing people back to life mostly. And when I DO get in a fight then I use it, but that's quite rare. It's the perfect weapon.

No, most of my family lives in Germany. One of my uncles lives with his family in Austria and a cousin of my father lives in the USA, but that's all.

Only about ten minutes ago I was on here sending all my love to my family out there. We haven't heard from them yet, and these guys were just trying to cheer me up a bit. If you want to blame someone for making everyone be optimistic blame me.

I'm from Auckland, New Zealand, so I've been hearing a lot about the Earthquake. So far there's been about 75 confirmed deaths, and at least 100 missing people. On the bright side, though, people are still being rescued from the rubble and emerging alive. So we're lucky that there are some people still alive in there. Thank you from all us New Zealanders, Derek, and every one else showing consideration. :)

Hi, I'm from the North Island of New Zealand.
75 are dead, mostly unidentified, the nuimber is continuously increasing. 300 are missing. Buildings that are still standing are unstable. This was a 6.3 aftershock of a 7.1 quake from September. Christchurch has been rocked by aftershocks for five months, and this one is big enough to have its own series of aftershocks. It originated 4km away from Christchurch in the South Island. The town it originated from is destroyed. It was close to the surface. Most of that region is without water of electricity. A company called Fonterra has donated 200,000 litres of water. We are in a nation State of Emergency to allow the government to access resources.
Sorry to sadden your day. The international media has been getting things a bit wrong.

hey im from nz my older brother lived in christchurch im so glad he moved down to live with us again it was before the earthquake happened im so happy i dont want to lose him. it really sucks watching the news seeing everything over and over again people crushed and dead im only 12 turning 13 in june but i really understand the pain they must be going through christchurch really is on its knees .
oh by the way i hope you dont think i copied you my mum would say you inspire me dad would say im obsessed with you and your books but i think your the best i love your books and you make me right better more fun and everything so ok maybe i am slightly inspired by you but hey i won an english or language award in 2009 so i must be a good writer hehe right anyway i had to come up with this story and i used one of your chapters from your fist book the chapter where beryl is in the kitchen with the family. i added my own twist and the stuff i needed in it and well i got an excellent the highest mark you can get thanks so so much its one more step for me so i can come over to Ireland as an exchange student but i need good grades 2 years worth including this year owww i have to pay attention now

New Zealander here. Some of my family live down in Christchurch; they live out in the country a little though, so they're okay, and the damage to their house isn't terrible.

I just feel as though I can't do anything right.
You do a lot of things right. You make Kallista happy which is right. You share your amazing literature with us which is right. You make us laugh which is right. You make some of our days better just by talking to you when we feel sad which is right. You stand up for what you believe in which is right. You do lots of things that are right.
And I also do lots of things that are wrong. Like complaining all the time, spreading depression and other things. Like yesterday, I thought I was doing you all a favour by keeping stuff in but Kallista didn't like it.
You don't complain all day. We are all aloud to complain a bit sometimes.
You don't spread depression. Plus. everyone does things that are wrong. Kallista just wanted you to share your pain so it wasn't as big a burden.
It is better to make the wrong things right then the right things wrong.

True. I try and do the right thing but sometimes it ends up being the wrong thing. I try and stop arguments when I can and all I get is arguments in return, when I have dreams of the future sometimes I see arguments between some of you. Like the other day, Nyx and Wonka were having a fight and I knew it was going to happen. I knew if I didn't do anything it would be a WAR so I stopped it, then the next day I got into an argument myself. Taking a quote from Jurassic Park:
"Some of the worst things imaginable have been done with the best intentions"
I know but at least you try and stop them.
If you didn't then it could have been so much worse.
That happens to the best of us.
