ATTENTION MINIONS!
I need your help! I need at LEAST two hundred replies, from as many of you as possible, to this post before tomorrow. If I get that, then Laura- the REAL Valkyrie Cain- has agreed to do an interview about what it means to be the basis for such an awesome character!

why you name the book skullduggery when the main chara is realy Val i mean skull-mans cool and has a cool name but you knwo not name it anything else?????
Beth, I think Derek means the actual Laura, who can walk and talk and is obviously kick-ass, being the inspiration for Valkyrie. And since the book is told from Valkyrie's point of view, Skulduggery is her way into the world where she belongs. It all started with him and Gordon. So I think Derek was right to name the book Skulduggery Pleasant instead of Valkyrie Cain or Stephanie Edgley, because Valkyrie Cain doesn't exist until the middle of the first book and Stephanie Edgley would be kind of a boring book title, even though it's a cool name.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first comment I've posted here. It feels like I've accomplished something great, done something that matters! Have I now become a minion of Landy The Great? So many questions so little time. You see I just started college a few weeks ago and I am not ashamed to say these books are my favorite by far (sure Darren Shan is cool but you've taken his cake.) So Thank you Master Landy, The Man who found the lost city of Gold. (It's okay if you promptly lost it again) You made the somewhat irrational teenage angst leave my entire being. I feel like an adult now (maybe), but you take my back to magic and dangerous adventures when i need (so desperately) to escape.
