I can agree, i have ignored some more complex problems in the matter while stating some things that i thought would be correct. I have not reached a final conclusion about anything.

Star, ever come across logic in mathematics? It IS a discipline like geometry or so, just not taught anymore. It used to be big, though.
Example:
A is like B.
B is like C.
Logical conclusion: If both statements are true, then A is like C.
This is logic. Not more, not less. :)

And computers can do logic. Without all answers having been programmed into them in advance.
Logic. Is like maths. It's conclusive in itself, it does not need emotions or anything from outside to make sense. It just is.

Kas: One could argue that many people are slaves of their emotion, instead, and that you're never truely free to start with. You can just choose what to be ruled by. And whether that's a freedom or another form of being forced is a matter of perspective, I guess.
star: you cannot be sure about that. Other living beings are capable of considering it as well. Mathematics is all around us. So who's to say there isn't a god, and that he is not the greatest mathematician?

At the end of the day, something has to drive you, but emotions let you see how things make you feel, and make moral decisions that can be useful, or useless.
Logic in ignores all that, you don't feel, but rather, do what you have deducted is the best thing to do to meet your goal. You're missing out on thinking whether the action you're doing can affect you, because you no longer feel the relevant emotions. Problem is, your goals can be morally bad, but you're not going to notice as you've no reason to question the fact that you're a slave.

@Johanna Depends on your logic, but, as I mentioned earlier, humans are too unintelligent to live on logic alone, simply because they'd not gain the knowledge they have now without emotions, or things like curiosity.
And logic only extends to one person, for example, if it is logical for someone to die, that doesn't mean they'll calmly accept it, they will follow their survival instincts.
