I have now crossed the 80,000 word mark in Desolation. You know what that means?
It's a proper book now.
Demon Road was a little over 121,000. I had wanted it to be 80,000, which is roughly the size of Dark Days. Obviously, that didn't happen. But I am DETERMINED that Desolation be of a more manageable size. It'll probably end up somewhere around the 100,000 mark.
Writing a book can be a struggle. It's just so happened that in the writing of this one, every time I started to flow, and write LOTS, I had to go off on tour or do festivals or get interrupted for a multitude of reasons. It's very hard to build up any kind of rhythm when your writing schedule is kinda messed up.
But I'm flowing now. I want to get this latest draft off to my editor on Monday, because on Tuesday I'm off on holiday to Disneyworld and Universal Studios.
For Halloween.
Ooooooh this is gonna be my kind of holiday. By day, we go to Magic Kingdom, and go on rides and visit Harry Potter world and just have good, nice lovely fun...
But at night...
Universal Studios over Halloween has the most terrifying horror experiences on offer, and I will be going and subjecting my girlfriend to the ordeal. I'm going to tweet about it. I'm going to take videos. You may see me scream.
But it shall be a manly scream. A WAR CRY.
And then I'll run away and leave Laura to face this guy on her own.
Gonna be FUN.

Tresha: Maybe you're just here till you do a good deed without meaning to do it or without ulterior motives.
@Chloe: XD
I wasn't imagiining you naked.
*is now imagining you naked*
um . . . right. That's a little too weird. O_o
*mentally changes subject*
(*licks*(
Flauros: how long will that take? *seems irritated*
(*watches muppets christams carol*
*hides behind jai when scrooge comes on*)
((Um... *wraps up in a blanket or two*))
(Ewww. *wipes face of saliva* *rolls eyes and guards the Chloe from the tv*)
Tresha: I don't know? You'd have to do something just for the sake of being helpful, not for a way into heaven. Like how you could stop someone being crushed under a tree to try get back to heaven, or to save someone's life?
.... Not even gonna ask XD
(Probably for the best)
(*shakes*)
Flauros: so it looks like I won't be going bak any time soon...
(MASTER!)
(*hugs tightly* Shhhh.. Hey it's okay Chloe.)
Tresha: Havent you ever saved someone just to save them?
(*whimpers*)
Flauros; no... Why would I? What do I gain?
((LOL! Brilliant reply by Flauros there. :)))
(It's okay sis *hugs gently*)
Tresha: Well it's just.. nice? If a tree were going to kill you you'd want someone to help you right? Well, if someone needs help you should help people.
((Thanks XD))
(*cuddles sis*)
Flauros; I don't need anyone's help
And I'm not a nice angel
Tresha: I think you're quite nice.
Flauros: what gives you that impression?
Tresha: *shrugs*
You just seem sort of.. innocent, in a way. Adorable.
Flauros: +growls* I am not
Tresha: Hmm?
*realizes she said that aloud and blushes*
Oh! No of course not I mean well yeah but no.
Flauros: do I seem innocent and adorable to you? *goes red and crosses arms*
Tresha: *is bright red by now*
*squeaks out quietly*
N-no?
Flauros: *raises an eyebrow* there's something about you...
(*has a new idea that I need sav for*)
Tresha: There is? Wh-hat is it?
*isn't sure whether to be worried or hopeful*
*kinda ends up looking a strange mixture of both*
(*New idea?*)
(*gor a chaacter*)
Flauros; you are odd
(*Ahhhh*)
Tresha: Oh.. good odd or bad odd?
Flauros; there's a difference?
Tresha: Well yeah I guess so. I mean some types of odd are weird and creepy whereas some are more quirky and cool.
OMFG Jai you need to watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw_EMEs05X4&list=WL&index=2
Flauros: you are just... Odd
(Hi gem ^.^)
(*tilts head* fifty shades.. of frozen.)
Tresha: Hmm.
*frowns slightly, trying to work that out*
Flauros: and you are annoying...
Tresha: Oh.. I'm sorry..
Flauros: you make an impression on my mind so I can't stop thinking of you
Tresha: I do?
*smiles*
*is here now*
*yay for me XD*
(Hello master.)
Tis me Jai, who you say is strange... but i'm not!!! XD
(*raises an eyebrow* Jacko.)
Yuppity yup, meeeeeeeee
Chloe's account is playing up btw
(DAMMIT JANNET)
(Ahhhh okay..)
(Uhhhh hi Chloe xD)
The s ver is deep but I swam it
Janet!
*river
Her accounts playing up again XD
Right.... Bye?
(Aw :/ *hugs*)
Ila: At least I wouldn't drink a stranger's blood. Or blood at all, really. I'm actually not that strange.
*she pauses*
No, I really am very strange. But what's life without a little weirdness? There's no point in being normal. Normal is too... normal.
AU!Sil: that does tend to be why its called normal.
*let's her sigils fade*
You're new here.
Ila: How long did it take you to figure that out?
AU!Sil: Not long.
Ila: Good. I was starting to get really worried I was talking to an idiot. Now I'm just only slightly worried.
AU!Sil: *laughs*
An idiot? Thanks.
(Hello.)
(Hello, Tia.)
Ila: You're very welcome. Would you like candy to go with your blood? I carry some with me at all times.
hab u seen an alien ples?
(*bows at Sophia*
*frowns*
That is such an odd thing to do.
@Fera Yeah, but I preferred Aliens.)
(That is a very odd thing to do, Tia.)
ahh good good. sup kas?
(@Sophia I'm sure that's a polite greeting in some cultures.
@Fera Nothing is up at this time of day.)
nothing? well that's a shame. Over here, there are some fireworks. Oh and some beautiful stars. It's a shame the sky is cloudy. Speaking of which, the sky was clear the other day, and i believe the nearest galaxy, Andromeda was visible. That, or i just spotted some random cluster....or the core of our galaxy.
(Our neighbourhood just went quiet, people are off to sleep.)
But I've seen the core of our galaxy being captured on camera in Alaska...It looked a lot bigger than what I've spotted. So i am guessing either a cluster, or Andromeda.
hmmm, I think people are settling here as well.
(@Fera You got a supercomputer? Elite: Dangerous has 400 billion star systems, so you can visit the core. Or fly above it, see what it looks like from that angle.
There's universe/physics simulation software available too, which shows things like two galaxies colliding and tearing each other apart, launching suns around. Awesome stuff.)
i'll check out the elite: dangerous program :) I know about the second one, it's called Universe sandbox ^_^ watch this, it's fucking amazing!
(Nice.)
(ih woh era ouy?)
it's the only thing that truly brings tears to my eyes ^_^
i am alright, how's you k? :P
(m'i doog ! D:)
sdrawkcab thiw s'tahw ?
(Hello, Keiron.)
New video is up. Part 2 is rendering the now and will be uploaded tomorrow.
Night guys -hugs-
(I know, Gem. Good night!)
*hugs gemmy back*
( -hugs gemmy tightly-
onnod s'ti nuf :P )
(Attack The Block is, very easily, the worst film I have ever seen.)
(@Sophia Is that the one with the aliens?)
( @star they're making episodes for Lizzie now it's making me sad... the newest one is called thin Lizzie the last one was about baby ... :/ )
(Yes, Tia. The aliens that I am actually starting to root for, rather than having any emotional connection with the main characters whatsoever, other than hoping they will die sooner rather than later.)
(@Sophia I liked the pacing, and the quality wasn't that bad. The aliens actually made sense (more so than Battleship, a much worse alien film) and, most importantly, the story wasn't about the cliché of them saving the world from an alien invasion. I don't see how it could have been the worst film you've ever seen unless you've managed to miss/forget many, many awful films.
Hmm, I saw a film a good 5+ years ago. Didn't remember the name. Couldn't find it online. Literally spent days looking for it recently, including looking up every sci-fi movie released on imdb in the last 30 years. No dice.
But I finally found it. It's low budget and actually pretty meh, but I remember the setting and I'll never forget it. It's called Impostor. With Gary Sinise.
Also, check out Fifth Element, with Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich. It's not great, but I love it, and I'm not the only one.)
(When I began watching it, I assumed the teenagers in hooded jackets threatening and mugging the woman would be the first victims of the recently landed alien, whilst the woman would be the film's protagonist. I was rather disappointed when the drug smoking, knife wielding, gun holding, criminal teenagers were actually the protagonists.
I would also like to point out that the script is almost incomprehensible. The cursing and slang easily takes up ninety nine percent of any dialogue in the film. The other one percent are the noises the aliens are making - which I am actually more likely to understand.)
(Battleship is, by no stretch of the imagination, a good film. It does, however, have a comprehensible script, which easily makes it better than Attack The Block.
I have actually seen the Fifth Element, and I do like that film. Although I do have a natural bias towards fantasy rather than science fiction, I only have two complaints about the film. The lore is very, very underdeveloped, and Chris Tucker's character is very irritating.)
(Maybe check out the Riddick films?
Well, since they're being hunted, it's more of a survival thing?
Sure, they may have tried to mug someone, but now they're all fighting together to survive.)
gone to sleep, bye.
(I'm actually glad Chris Tucker didn't annoy me. But maybe I was distracted by Bruce Willis shooting all the things.
Not really, I thought Attack The Block knew exactly what it wanted to do, and achieved it. The alien's abilities and purpose was revealed as the film went on, and as we found out, the aliens were basically beasts, and the humans were trying to survive.
Not so different from Alien, or Riddick, or other similar films in terms of plot.
Battleship, though. They put Liam Neeson on a boat outside all the action. They made an idiot the protagonist. They made spaceships with glass windows that can be shot out.
They put their spaceships in water. Water = water pressure = windows explode. So the aliens should NOT have ever put windows on their spaceships, it makes no sense. Yet they did. Stupid plot, inconsistent tech, battleship is stupid... just why?)
(Night, Fera.)
(I may do. I have never seen them.
According to Wikipedia, Attack The Block is supposed to be a science fiction comedy film? The only thing I have found humorous about the film so far is that it appears film critics gave it quite high ratings. If I wanted to watch a science fiction comedy, I would immediately turn to The Watch. Or to the Fifth Element, but I do not know whether its humour is purposeful or not.)
(@Sophia ATB comedy is the fact that it's not taking itself seriously, yet the sci-fi concepts are still serious enough to be a sci-fi film. I'd say it's rather good, but I wouldn't re-watch it as there's not enough to keep me interested a second time around.)
(@Sophia I have an odd taste in films. I could make a list of my favourite films/films I obsess about, maybe you'd find a few worth watching?)
(I agree, if you cast Liam Neeson for a film, there are better uses for him than making him have literally no part in the main plot. The protagonist is atrocious, I agree. I tend to think it has one redeeming quality. Despite the fact it has clearly duplicated things from Transformers - which is certainly something you should never do - I would consider it a children's film. And if you compare it with most other children's films, it is not so bad. It is tolerable, even if it is ridiculous.)
(Or TV series?)
(I usually stay within the same genres of film. I usually watch either action films or fantasy. I rarely venture out into science fiction, as I generally think the vast majority of science fiction media is very poorly made - especially recently. There are few notable exceptions. I would generally consider fantasy better made overall.)
(I know no children who enjoy Battleship. And they cast Rihanna. And cut out all the swears. It's a frustrating film to watch.
Transformers is bad, sure, but you get to see robots fight. If you're into watching CGI robots fight, you'll love it.
And there just wasn't much to love for anyone in Battleship.)
(I have a hard time watching or playing fantasy :/)
(I have always loved fantasy. There is something I like about it, but I am not entirely sure what it is.
There are few films which star large robots that end up working out well. In addition to Transformers, take Pacific Rim, for example.)
(Would you consider watching 50 Shades of Grey? What if I told you you could watch 50 Shades of Grey without actually watching 50 Shades of Grey?
Click here. Or don't. Your choice.
(Pacific Rim is much newer than the first Transformers film by Michael Bay, hence the example.
I could share a few films that I like. I don't have a list, but I could create one for you.)
(I would never consider watching it. From an inaccurate depiction of a BDSM relationship to the fact the entire concept of the film or book does not appeal to me, I have no intentions of ever seeing it.)
(By all means, make a list. I do, however, tend to be quite picky with the films I watch.)
(The link describes everything wrong with the movie. That's why it's 20 minutes long. It's pretty entertaining, the guy makes a lot of videos, detailing what's wrong with a lot of films. It's fairly humorous.)
(TV series first. Some I'd recommend. Others, not so much.
Orange is the new Black has burnt me out.
So has Orphan Black, but it had clones so whatever.
Breaking Bad, it takes nearly a season to get good, but while I'm told the characters are played absolutely super perfectly, it's the situations that are brilliant sometimes.
Battlestar Galactica, very good. You're in it from the start, and it's very human. Very interesting. Doesn't really go where I hoped it would, but you see a huge amount of things copied from 2003's BSG in modern sci-fi, but BSG did it better. Features a "are you fucking kidding me?" moment when you least expect it. 10/10.
Eureka/A Town Called Eureka. You have a sheriff in a town populated by scientists and researchers, set up by Einstein himself. And you have a sheriff who gets a job there, and, despite being inept at using technology, manages to stop the scientists from accidentally killing themselves or destroying the town using their tech. Like when a death ray is about to fire and nobody can shut it down, he'll just ram it with his car. Genius. Pretty fun to watch. It's all fun and games until you get to the last episode of season 1, and suddenly you've got an episode that's better than anything from Doctor Who in the last 5-7 years.
Doctor Who, must watch. :/
Castle, better than CSI, basically the best in that genre.)
(Films. Again, some are good. Some, just obsessed with.
2009's Star Trek, lens flares aside, it's a good story, with good acting. I like it.
Fifth Element, KORBEN DALLAS MULTIPASS!!!!!!
Love Exposure, a lengthy Japanese film. I've only seen it twice, but the first time I saw it, I had no experience with Japanese films, so I was pleasantly surprised.
The Chronicles of Riddick, I guess I like to see Vin Diesel travel the galaxy, getting dragged into a war.
Mad Max: Fury Road, fulfills its promise of being as awesome as the trailers imply. No forced protagonist love story.
Mass Effect: The Movie. Not yet made.
This is it for now. I have a few more I'm not sure are good enough to share, and a few I can't remember right now.)
(Off to sleep now, as it's late. Good night, Sophia!)
Broken down, not good enough
The broken promises add up
With twice their weight
and tears which I have caused
(If you are talking about CinemaSins, I have seen one or two of their videos. Mostly about films I have not liked, to see if the mistakes I have noticed add up. My only complaint is not to do with that particular series, and more the population of YouTube for starting to do exactly the same thing that they are.
However, I hardly think Doctor Who is a "must watch", especially not recently. The writing of them is terrible to the point where they barely make sense - and after forty five minutes, you can hardly say an overarching story has moved anywhere. There is no overarching plot, and given that you do not exactly get the feeling the characters have accomplished anything at the end of the episode, it seems to be rather pointless watching it.)
AU!Sil: candy? Thanks, but I'm good.
Fucks sake)
(Is this working now?!)
(Yes, Chloe?)
Ila: Suit yourself. *she eats a piece of toffee from her pocket*
(Yes it is Chloe xD)
AU!Sil: Youre a very strange vampire..
All I had todo was prove I'm not a robot!)
(Really?? xDDDDDD Theyre on to you Chloe!!!)
(How long did it take you to prove that, Chloe? They may start to think you actually are one.)
Ila: I'm a very strange person. Being a vampire is just a bonus. There's nothing wrong with enjoying toffee. My pockets are full of lots of things: Candy, confetti, chemicals, things I've stolen, knives, souls... Really, I do have a lot of stuff.
AU!Sil: Hmmm..
*tilts head, pulling out a note pad*
Can you describe your species please?
Ila: Therapy? Really? Okay, I'll explain mine if you explain yours, and if you tell me your name. And for the sake of it, if you climb a tree.
AU!Sil: *laughs* Actually I just want to know the difference between me and you, species wise. Hmmm..
*writes panthera sapien?, then crosses it out, writing vampyra instead, deciding to settle on a class later*
AU!Sil: *scribbles that out and writes lamia*
Ila: *her hand glows red and a red, floating hand quickly grabs the piece of paper and pulls it to her* You spelt it wrong. Should I write instead? I'm starting to get more worried that I'm speaking to an idiot. That isn't how you spell vampire, silly. Where did the Y come from? And the A?
AU!Sil: *taps one of her sigils, it'll take notes on her arms, should she want it to*
Its one way of spelling it. And the a came from most geni ending in an a.
Ila: Can I call you Silly? Because you strike me as very silly. Can you tell me your name? I will gas you otherwise. And it isn't laughing gas. It'll make you grin scarily and start ballroom dancing. I was going for cheerful, but I'm not fluent in enchantments yet so it ended up being quite horrific. Funny, though.
AU!Sil: Silente Tempest
Ila: So I can call you Silly? That's great. Okay, no creepy gas for you. Why don't you have symbols on your cheeks?
fucking.
specifically, being an alien.
cuz...habe u seen a ship ples?
AU!Sil: no you can't call me silly. Only a few people can call me that. And I don't have symbols there because I didn't carve then there.
(Soup))
(Yo.
Yeah, it's not letting me comment now unless I click that I'm not a robot.)
(Strange *frowns*)
(Yeah. Least it ticks straight away.)
(Hello?)
(Good good ^.^
Hi brother kas!)
(Hey, Chloe! How are you?)
Ila: Why, can't people here say "silly"? And do you have to carve your own symbols? That's just weird. I was born with symbols on my face.
(Hey kas!)
AU!Sil: you were born with symbols on your face?
(I'm sad
Hi soph)
(Aww, why, Chloe?
*hugs them both*)
(*hugs Chloe* rp?)
(A guy went on Jeremy Kyle
His ex wife and son died after the wife's boyfriend set the house a light
+huggles everyone+ okay sis)
Tresha: You can't stop thinking about me?
*smiles while trying to hide her smile*
Flauros; it's inconvenient
Tresha: I'm sorry if its inconvenient.
*is still smiling*
Flauros: what is wrong with your face ?
Tresha: What's on my face??
*looks worried, hands flying over her features*
Flauros: your mouth seemed to be frozen into a smile...
Tresha: Oh.
*laughs*
Sorry.
Flauros: people here seem very... Happy
Tresha: Maybe its a nice place then.
Flauros: there seems no rhyme nor reason as to why... To me
Tresha: Maybe it's the nature or the freedoma
I used to say "what is life" pretty much whenever I entered a classroom, but it has so ce become shortened to just "Life."
^since
Flauros: *grunts* this is freedom? I am chained... Bound to this godforsaken land where I have to rely on food and water to sustain this mortal body
(+hugs seren*)
:) *hugs Chloe*
(+watches rocky horror live*
+fangirls*)
Tresha: I guess that's one way to see it. But you can still enjoy yourself right?
Flauros: how?
Tresha: You know! Running, jumping, hanging out with friends, exercise, just generally having a good time.
Flauros; I don't have any friends
Tresha: then get some!
*smiles*
Flauros: how will that benefit me?
Tresha: It might make your stay here more enjoyable. Get a hobby.
Flauros: a... Hobby?
Tresha: Yeah. And activity which you do often because it entertains you?
*her cat jumps from the tree above her, landing in front of Flauros, purring, rubbing against his leg*
*Tresha blushes, trying to ignore it*
L-like playing the guitar. That's what I do..
Flauros: I wouldn't know what to do *looks at the cat and growls*
Tresha: Well you could try a few activities and see if you like them..
*the cat continues to purr, looking up at him, shaking its rump before jumping and climbing onto his shoulder*
Flauros: *grunts+ get this creature off of me!
Tresha: Sorry!
*jumps from the tree, picking up the reluctant creature, not meeting his eyes*
Sorry..
Flauros; what is it's problem with me?
Tresha: She likes you apparently.
*let's the cat sit on her own shoulder*
Flauros: likes me? That's a first
Tresha: It is?
Flauros: yes
Tresha: I bet you're more liked than you think
Flauros; I've given no reason for people to like me
( Hilow )
(Hey k ^.^)
(Hey K)
Tresha: that doesn't mean they won't like you.
Flauros: what is there to like?
( how are you all ? :P )
(I is okay)
(I'm okay, you?)
Tresha: you..
Flauros: *looks confused*
Tresha: *coughs*
Doesn't matter.
*smiles*
Mark: *knocks loudly on Clocky's door*
*has a can of larger in his hand*
*it's his fifteen*
Clooooockyyyyyyyy!
Flauros; tell me
Clocky: *opens door* mark!
Tresha: Nothing! I said nothing!
*blushes*
Mark: Heyyyyy!
*loops and arm over her shoulders, slouching and probably pulling her neck down slightly*
Hey Clocky!
Flauros: you lie
Clocky; mark... You're drunk... Why?
Tresha: *blushes*
Just that you're.. nice.
Mark: Cole gave me some booze!
*grins, talking in her ear*
Guess who wants to meet you Clocky! My cohkey!
*laughs loudly*
Flauros: how so?
Clocky: mark! *blishes bright red+ let go of me!
(Jai! XD)
Tresha: You just are..
Mark: *holds her tightly*
Shhhhh! Stay close to me! You know I love you!
(Hehehe)
If I'm a bad person, you don't like me
Well, I guess I'll make my own way
It's a circle, a mean cycle
I can't excite you anymore
Where's your gavel? Your jury?
What's my offense this time?
You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge me
Well, sentence me to another life
Don't wanna hear your sad songs
I don't wanna feel your pain
When you swear it's all my fault
'Cause you know we're not the same
No, we're not the same, oh, we're not the same
Yeah, The friends who stuck together
We wrote our names in blood
But I guess you can't accept that the change is good
It's good, it's good
Well, you treat me just like another stranger
Well, it's nice to meet you, sir
I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well, it's nice to meet you, sir
I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
This is the best thing that could've happened
Any longer, and I wouldn't have made it
It's not a war, no, it's not a rapture
I'm just a person, but you can't take it
The same tricks that, that once fooled me
They won't get you anywhere
I'm not the same kid from your memory
Well, now I can fend for myself
Don't wanna hear your sad songs
I don't wanna feel your pain
When you swear it's all my fault
'Cause you know we're not the same
No, we're not the same, oh, we're not the same
Yeah, we used to stick together
We wrote our names in blood
But I guess you can't accept that the change is good
It's good, it's good
Well, you treat me just like another stranger
Well, it's nice to meet you, sir
Well, I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well, it's nice to meet you, sir
Well, I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
Well, you treat me just like another stranger
Well, it's nice to meet you, sir
Well, I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well, it's nice to meet you, sir
I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out
