The competition had nothing to do with me or Skulduggery — it was all to do with an educational video game designed to teach you maths and have, you know, actual fun while you do it. Incorporating historically accurate aspects of Native American tribal life and culture, the game was called Spirit Lake, and the competition was to find someone to become a character in it, using your name and likeness. Here's what I said about it at the time:
"And if this works like they hope it will, this could be the beginning of something huge. This could revolutionise teaching, and learning— not just in America but across the world— and it could be just the thing that's needed to help struggling students make that singular, all-important leap. This could change people's lives."
The competition was a great success. I got in some hilarious responses, and also some heartfelt ones, and while it was not easy to pick a winner, a winner I did pick.
And now I'm going to do it all over again.
These same awesome people — people who include the mother and sister of my personal (Twitter) friend, UFC champion Ronda Rousey* — have another game in development, called Forgotten Trail.
SO — if you like the idea of having a video game version of yourself teaching kids maths across America, give me your reasons why. In no more than thirty words, explain why you should win, and send your entries to skulteams@hotmail.com. You can enter as many times as you like, you can be any age, from any country, and the winner will be announced at the end of July.
Good luck!
* Yes, Ronda does count as a friend**.
** By friend I don't, of course, mean someone I've ever actually met, but that's not what's important here***.
*** What's important is that we're PALS. Some might say buddies. Kindred spirits, perhaps. I might even go so far as to say I've taught her everything she knows****.
**** I haven't ACTUALLY taught her everything she knows, but she knows that I would have, if ever I knew something that she didn't already know. Such as writing*****.
***** Although seeing as how Ronda's autobiography has made it to the New York Times bestseller list — a list I have yet to ACTUALLY grace — this probably isn't the best use of my, or her, time. But even so, I am sure there are PLENTY of things I could teach her. Though probably nothing useful or, you know, not-imaginary, like unicorn-taming, or yodelling******.
***** I'll shut up now.

Whether or not women could rape.
She's somehow convinced she's won.
??
:) Yes, it is. :)
@Star get her to come on here then, because she's wrong.
what were her points? ^_^ :)
((That women can't rape because they don't have a penis, that men can't have sex unless they want to . . .
ugh. Bit sick of it now. :P
Trying to persuade her, Kas.))
*to come here
star: really? that's like the single dumbest thing i've heard in a week XD
(*cough*Womencanrapeotherwomen,dontneedapenis*cough*
*cough*menstillhaveaholewhichcanbefilled*cough*
*cough*stillrapeifthatoneisused*cough*)
Omg. XD Thanks.
@Jai: Yeah, but apparently women can't use that hole because they have no hardware to fill it.
lol, and i know i don't wanna have sex with any woman that comes my way, so if one of those were to drug me up and use my penis against my will, that would be rape... *sigh*
(*cough*theyhavefingers*cough*
*cough*theyhavetheinternetviawhichtheycanbuyyhehardware*cough*)
I have explained this to her.
@Jai: Apparently it's not rape then. Only penis + vagina = sex, apparently.
star: *facepalm* that is just...ugghhh...
( fingers ... Items... Not a thrustpoll5000 but it'll do "damage" just as much as a guy to woman... Probably -I keep disappearing. Because holiday lol)
((YOU SEE
THIS IS WHAT I AM UP AGAINST
AND I NEVER MANAGE TO PROVE HER WRONG SO MY WHOLE FRIENDSHIP GROUP JUST THINKS SHE'S RIGHT URGHHHHHHHHHH.
(well, on this they thought she was right from the beginning.)))
holiday? ^_^
(*facepalm*
*sighs at Cat*
How does only opposing sexual body parts equal sex? In that case what do Homosexuals (and bisexuals) do?)
star: but how did you not manage to prove her wrong, you've made pretty solid points?!!
@Jai: Sexual acts, apparently.
( sooo if a man fingers a girl or sticks a dildo inside her with no consent does that make it okai in c's eyes)
@Fera: Idek. She's still convinced she's right.
@Star Send her this.
1. Yes, by UK law, only men can rape. However, this is only a technicality, with "male rape" being classed as sexual assault rather than rape, when most people accept that yes, it's rape.
2. Men can't have sex unless they want to? So what is a man supposed to do when three men hold him down and have a go at fucking his ass? Cry "I can't have sex unless I want to!"?
UK law actually agrees with her. I just don't agree with UK law.
(@Star Sexual acts.
Right.
sexual intercourse
noun
sexual contact between individuals involving penetration.)
@Kas: I'm not sure she'd class that as sex. Also, the argument was not 'can men be raped,' but 'can women rape men.'
@Jai: Yeah, but she goes by the definition that the UK law does.
((Lizzie told us to stop so now she's stopped arguing GAH.))
(Bad C)
star: it's obvious women can rape men, she's wrong, tell her to shut it :D
@Star email
((@fera: I know she's wrong but she doesn't.))
( but if a man un consensually fingers or licks or sticks something other than his previous inside is it not rape?)
And tbh, just because the other scenario happens more often, doesn't mean that this one doesn't happen, and it can't happen! worst thing is, my mom had the exact same argument with my dad once... :D
((Very nice to have so many people agreeing with me, btw. :)
When I'm at school it feels like the whole world thinks I'm wrong, and then I come on here and I'm just like "*blinks* Omg." :P))
((Seriously. I got luaghed at so much this lunch when I said that women could rape men - like, laughs as in "OH MY GOHS THAT'S THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I'VE EVER HEAARD." Nice to find people who think like I do. :/))
@Conductor: Nope.
Rape is defined as the act of sexual intercourse without consent. Using one's fingers does not constitute rape but it is considered sexual assault, not that it makes much of a difference. There are several court cases dealing with the rape of males by females, so although it is rare, it is a very real thing. Your friend would do well to do a little research into the subject.
((According to UK law women can't rape men. It's classed as sexual assault.))
star: I don't think their sight goes much further than their own noses, only open minded people would agree with you :)
(just sexual harassment ? I count that as at least attempted rape...)
cuz some laws are stupid :D
@Fera: THank you so much. ;)
Interesting. I am not familiar with the UK laws regarding this matter.
@Conducotr: Not harassment - ASSAULT.
@Fera: YES.
It's not rape by UK laws, but "laws" aren't what people define the word as.
star: haha ;) ^_^ she still arguing? :D
Well, UK law agrees with Cat.
Imo, UK law is wrong.
@Fera: Nope. They're yelling at me for not stopping arguing.
star: I agree with you on the law being wrong :)
Hey we're in a tornado warning yay
No I'm not going to my basement yet, but I'm close to it.
star: let it go, people have to realize how wrong they were themselves ^_^
@Fera: THANK you. :)
( please tell me she at least sees that it. Can be sexual assault then ? At the very least she has to see that IT is wrong and that no matter what no matter gender no means no and no consent isn't maybe.)
@Fera: She won'tttttttttt. But thanks. :)
zaf: I hope you'll be safe!
star: hehe :)
@Conductor: She sees it as WRONG, she just doesn't class it as rape.
Although I think we disagree on the definition of consent. Sigh.
Kind of like how you could shoot someone on the street and everyone cries out murder but it's really not because you're a cop and get cleared of charges.
It's just a technicality and most people accept that you've committed murder.
It's similar with women raping men not considered rape. Just a technicality, the crime is still there.
How can there be any confusion on the definition of consent?
star: just leave it then, let her have her way, and maybe she'll realize some day ^_^
So far so good but its in effect until 10pm. So I'm not out of the zone for a while....
zad: I hope it avoids you :)
(The same logic used by her saying, "Sex is only between a man and a woman" is the same logic used by those who said that only marriage is between and a man and a woman. That did not change the fact it was discrimination. And law does not dictate the definition of a word. The definition dictates the definition of a word, and the law only concerns whether or not it is allowed in society, nothing more and nothing less. It is entirely possible for homosexual people of either gender to have sex with one another.)
Liliana: Indeed. Even for the daughter of the goddess of death, this place creeps me out a little. No doubt Ember is still attempting to take care of Minerve's forces.
Bethany: Then you can't say whether it's cute or not.
Lily: So which do you think I could like... get rid of? Sport I could probably get rid of... It isn't necessary.
con: btw, i am sorry for yesterday ^_^
(How can you disagree on the meaning of conse-
Oh PLEASE tell me she doesn't think it's consent if the person says no but they have an orgasm.)
@Kas: Yep.
@Itsuitsu: We agree on the definition, she just says that if you consent while under threat it's still consent, and that if you consent whilst you're drunk it can still be consent. And I think her idea of 'too drunk to consent' is different to mine.
@Fera: She won'tttttttttttt.
She thinks she is right about everything, and every time I can't prove her wrong she just sees it as more proof that she is always right and that I am usually wrong.
This guy was feeling suicidal so I bashed his head in with a hammer, he was suicidal so I had consent, right?
Onwa: Perhaps. Hopefully she hasn't been captured.
...Hmph..
Manuel: sport..perhaps animals and religious?
@Sophia: Yeahhhhhhh I don't think she agrees.
@Jai: Hmmmm . . .
O_O
I hope not, but she said that men had to want sex to have sex, so . . . possibly.
I love how you all hate her. It's such an ego-boost. :)
@Kas: XD I really wish I could ask her, but Lizzie would murder me.
Consent means consent, under the influence of ANYTHING; drugs or threats inclusive, is not consent. "If you consent while under threat" is not a thing. It's not feasible. Wow.
(@Star ugh.
Okay.
Drunk consent.. I kinda would say that there's a cut off point.. but consent under threat.. no.)
(me and you or you and her ...?
Consent to me is. Yes... Do this, it's fine .... Along those lines
I see any advancement unwanted as an attempt at rape, you don't know where they would stop after you have said no and they continued. I had a "stop" once because of the way I was doing something and I did instantly but I felt soooooo bad for days... I couldn't look at myself in the mirror because I thought I had been doing something they didn't like for a while... )
star: why are you friends with her? :D and tbh yeah i don't like her ^_^
@Itsuitsu: Yup.
@Star consent is making a conscious decision. You can't make a conscious decision if you have an external source acting upon you, forcing you to make a decision.
She said "Yes, I will have sex with you if you will kill my family if you don't" was consent. C:
(Although I think she htought it was still WRONG, but she'd class that as attempted murder, not rape.))
@Fera: Because I like her? :P
(Consent can only be given when a) the person is able to make a decision by themselves, and b) they are in a fit state to make that decision. Hence why children cannot give consent, neither can those who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you take advantage of someone who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, it is still classified as rape - and since she seems to be using the law as a definition, use that against her.)
If she cannot empathize with the concept of being forced into sexual intercourse at gunpoint then something is wrong with her.
@Kas: Yep.
I love you all. You're all so right.
(@Star just..bugsnskkekalskwbjskxofkd *and breathe*
No.
That isn't consent.
That's.. no. That's being forced into it. That counts as being forced into it.)
@Sophia: Yep.
I did go through this.
We didn't discuss it in detail though.
@Itsuitsu: She CAN empathise. She'd just NOT CLASS IT AS RAPE. She still thinks it's horribly wrong.
Okay, she just pointed out that you all hated her because she was narrow-minded but she thinks that hating someone you're never met because of what they believe is narrow-minded. And she has a point.
( hope your fine Leo .... -zaf-
As for drugs big no no... Drink only if thee are coherent. Threat, no such thing as consent because you will literally say anything in most cases tk save your life.)
@Jai: Yup. She'd probably call it forced consent.
;) I love you all. You all think I'm so right. It's gratifying.
@Conductor: Yup.
*also rather hopes Zaf is not killed by a tornado*
*that would kind of not be good*
:P
(Star - Please do not invite her should you, Jaimie and I meet up in summer. I have a feeling I may end up hitting her.)
Liliana: Unlikely. She is one of the more powerful of the sons and daughters of the gods and goddesses.
*a black mist-creature solidifies in front of them, with glowing red eyes*
Bethany: It's cute. I promise. *she smiles, kissing her forehead*
Lily: No, animal rights are important... I can hear them, remember?
Well I can tell my gerbils are freaking I can't hold one and usually I can
@Star what's the difference between forced consent and no consent? Both are illegal and classified as rape/sexual assault.
My apologies, I did not see your other comment until after posting. That's fair enough I suppose although I do feel that if you think that counts as consent then you don't truly understand the situation. None the less.
Ah, once more my comments are somewhat delayed. Delightful.
(@Sophi I get the feeling I might end up hitting her too..)
Onwa: Hmm. A monster appears.
*blushes, smiling*
Manuel: Ah. Of course.
Is Fera still around?
Omg.
Try to remember the people in our school were about 50% Conservatives and 45% UKIP.
There's a reason my entire friendship group thought she was right.
It's a very narrowminded area.
The only reason you're so 'omg anyone can rape no discrimination rainbows butterflies' is because you live and have lived in that environment.
She hasn't.
Also, I'm pretty sure she doesn't class rape as 'nonconsensual sex.' Which is why she's less hung-up on what counts as consent and what doesn't.
@Sophia and Jai: . . . um. okay.
(its fine star ... We're. Only being " narrow minded" because in no way does it make sense that you cant rape a man.... If a man is going through a sex change ... Taking all the hormones has the boobs the voice the hair everything but the vagina and he rapes someone ... Isn't that technically a woman raping someone ... Because you can transition b4 the op...)
@Conductor: We're temporarily ignoring anything but clear binary for the purpose of the argument.
((Yeah, but just because you very severely believe she's wrong doesn't mean you have to hate her for it.
That's no different to hating someone for their religion.))
@Star
Rape is non-consensual sex. Sexual assault is just another term for rape. Consent must be given freely, not under threat, or it's not consent.
@Kas: She admitted that women could do pretty much the same thing to men as men can do to women. She just wouldn't class it as rape.
Kas, sexual assault is very different from rape. Rape is sexual intercourse, sexual assault is any other form of sexual interaction.
( okay, I was just adding to the a woman cab rape a man....
Fera btw its tots fine. I told yo b4 anything you wanna say to me ill listen and try help if I can)
Yeha, well, she would class most forms of inercourse as sexual interaction.
(once again. very very narrowminded area. I'm quite impressed by the fact she's not homophobic. Actually, her family is homophobic so she's really doing quite well.)
I wonder, when we strive for equality, why aren't the laws equal for men and women. Earlier I saw it from C's view, but now thinking about it,if there is no consent. There is no consent. It's simple. A person can either give consent or they can't, therefore any sexual acts that consent isn't given for should be classed as rape.
Hi guys!
To be fair it sounds like you both understand the topic quite well and only disagree on the technical definition, and technically she's correct in that area, at least by the law of your country, so there doesn't seem to be much reason to argue when you really get down to details.
@Star It's non-consensual sex, and all non-consensual sex is rape. Just because the law disagrees doesn't mean it isn't the popular opinion.
( I. Only mildly don't like her because I heard what she was arguing about b4 @nd I disagreed ob a fundamental level that it came to mind that she was only doing it to kiss me and everyone else offf... Nk idea what the argument was about Nd I wasn't even part of it, lol I just remember it annoying me, so I added her the the people I an likely to disagree with like and here we are again... I will not be too harsh because at least she still sees that it. Is wrong, that is at least something.)
Hi Darcie! :)
@Kas: She thinks that popular opinion is wrong though.
@Itsuitsu: Maybe not. We were just getting to that point when LIzzie got us to shut up.
Lol she thinks you're all naive.
I knew this was coming.
@Star It's just a technicality. Like genocide/racial cleansing. Different words with the same meaning, one used by us, the other by Nazis, to talk about the same thing. Doesn't change the fact it's talking about the same thing.
Naïve how exactly?
ooops, sorry for poofing, went downstairs to eat ^_^
@Star a woman can force a male into sexual intercourse without consent. If she disagrees with this she is stupid and naive.
@Itsuitsu: She has this theory that I am really naive and I live in this like gumdrop world where everyone is equal and everything is okay, but that in reality, the world isn't like that. And she thinks naive people such as us just can't see that because we're too fixed to our naive beliefs.
( hi darcie yehhh ! So you ses starry can be right too :P C isn't always right, that sounds like a cult leader...)
@Kas: Eh. I would ask her, but y'know.
People who have theories about people are naive. There will always be people doing things that are surprising and unexpected.
So she believes equality is naïve? That's a strange notion. I can understand the concept of a "gumdrop world where everything is okay" being naïve, but moving towards equality and understanding rape are both a far cry from it.
star: lol, that's hypocritical :D I don't see what you like in her ^_^
Fuck this.
@Conductor: XD It is a cult. She is our Gandalf and we are her Hobbits and we must follow her.
(But really we must obey Lizzie because otherwise we will be hit with a brick.)
@Ksa: Surely everyone has theories about people . . . ?
Oh welcome back Fera. May I just say I do dearly enjoy your profile picture.
@Conductor: XD It is a cult. She is our Gandalf and we are her Hobbits and we must follow her.
(But really we must obey Lizzie because otherwise we will be hit with a brick.)
@Ksa: Surely everyone has theories about people . . . ?
star: from how you've portrayed her, i wouldn't be able to stand spending a day with her and not smashing something into bits :D
Yep. Equality is naive. We will never reach it so she thinks it's pointless trying.
@Fera: That's okay. I do.
The thing is, I only end up discussing her when she's being narrowminded and controversial. -_- So yeah. You don't see her good sides.
(Fifty percent conservative, forty five percent UKIP? I am very glad that I do not live in that area, Star. I am rather left-wing.)
Liliana: Indeed. *the creature seems to sit down and lower itself* Mmm... One moment. *she kneels next to the creature, before smiling* Mmm... I haven't seen you in a long time. *the creature leaps at her, knocking her over, and starts to lick her face* *its body composes of bones which are surrounded by black mist*
Bethany: Are you going to get dressed?
Lily: Animal rights are important... Trust me.
itsuitsu: oh thank you :) You know bleach, I assume then? ^_^
@Con: Generally I tend to disagree with Cat, especially when she says that she's always right. I know, for a fact, that people cannot be right 100% all of the time. I think that sometimes C needs to know she's wrong, and that she can't dictate what is right. People have opinions. Opinions cannot be wrong, only viewed in different ways.
star: What are her good sides? :)
@Fera: Exactly.
I'll probably spend the next week telling you every cool thing she does in an attempt t balance this out now.
I surely do. I just finished rewatching the 14th season, actually! That scene was by far one of the best.
itsuitsu: I like you :) :D and i'd have to agree, the scene when aizen just obliterates all these people is one of the best :)
(Darcie - It seems to me that she has simply managed to delude herself into thinking that she is always right, and refuses to accept she's wrong, even when there is evidence to support that.)
Onwa: *raises an eyebrow*
Childhood pet?
*blushes*
Oh yes yeah yes I am.
*gets her clothes back on*
Manuel: Okay.
@Sophia: Well, that was Cat's estimate.
I think maybe we might be 10% Labour, actually, but people who support Labour tend to get laughed at and Green Party . . . well, no one supports them but like . . . if you did you probably wouldn't admit it. O_o
@Darcie: She admitted she was wrong some of the time, but she thoguht that since it was less than 1% of the time it was irrelevant.
@Fera; Hang on.
Haha well thank you. Yes, it was so dark, and the music was splendid. Gives me chills every time.
(*hugs Derek* Hope you're doing well, Landy. :) :) :)
Be safe, Zaf!!! :0
*...it'd be cool if it were possible to put, like, content warning tags on comment pages*
*It's a grand discussion, but still a sensitive topic?*
*P.S. Let's not be rude about C if we can help it?
Different people think differently and are raised differently and come to believe differently to others, and how you feel about modern/political/social issues do not define who you are as a person, or how you are able to contribute to society or how you will treat other people.*
@The 'Naive' comment:
I would argue that there is a difference between aspiring to equality and believing that it already exists.
There is a difference between 'everyone is equal' and 'everyone DESERVES to be equal'.
THere is a difference between seeing equality on the face of something, and recognising inequality beyond that where others around you may not.
There is nothing naive about recognising a problem and wishing to rectify that to the best of your personal ability. There is nothing naive about noticing problems in society and realising that they run deeper than others might think. It's not naive or sugarcoated. It how things get changed. It's how things improve?
Thank you, Taiarawr. :)
She would argue that things are never going to significantly improve though.
itsuitsu: yeah, SAME :) Do you read the manga? :)
Then she need only look back on history and how much things have improved to see how wrong she is. Or does she mean that this is the apex of equality and that it will never improve from here on out?
@Star: I support the Green Party. How dare you! Though, it is only because of this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKNrtk2PUOU
I do, but I purchase the books, so I'm a little behind. I believe I'm just at the end of the Xcution arc, but planning to catch up a bit over the coming holidays, what about you?
@Itsuitsu: Eh. That's an argument for another day. She might win that one on account of how naive I am, though.
@Darcie: :P Yeah but if you say that Lizzie will kill you. SHe almost killed you when you mentioned in the first time.
But seriously. Don't mention that in my science class.
(Taia, or you could possibly argue that people should be rude to people like that, simply because society's tolerance to problems like these is the reason why it is continuing? If people were intolerant to discrimination and sexism, then it would be less of an issue.)
Liliana: Mmm... Yes, exactly. I had almost forgotten him. *she hugs the creature, smiling* Have you been a good boy all these years?
*the creature nods its head enthusiastically, licking Liliana's face again before looking up and tilting its head at Onwa* It is my girlfriend. She's nice. Do not worry.
Bethany: I was just thinking about Claire...
Lily: I want to focus on poverty and healthcare...
Itsuitsu: I see, well i purchase the books but also wanna be up-to-date, so i read online, though i STILL purchase the books afterwards :) I am well into the 1000 years blood war arc, in fact i am up to date with the chapters ^_^ And believe me when i tell you: the xcution arc is like, nothing compared to this arc ^_^
She is truly a fascinating individual. I wonder what it would be like to live inside her head for any period of time. I have no intention to offend, but I imagine it would be rather gloomy and... dry.
Ah, yeah, I know, I really want to get up to that. I dunno, I couldn't stand reading it online, I tried, but nothing beats smelling the paper and turning the page, I just got bored after 5 minutes of reading online, aha. So, I wait. I'm (obviously) several volumes behind with the books, so that ought to be fun.
Onwa: *raises an eyebrow*
I'm nice?
*watches the creature*
*nods*
Yeah..
Manuel: Okay. Poverty and Health Care..
Well, I think I shall depart. Goodbye, everyone.
@Itsuitsu: It would not at all be gloomy. It would be very fun adn exciting. However, it might be depressing. She has a fairly negative outlook on life.
itsuitsu: but you do realize, that the xcution arc is in anime as well right? :D so you could watch it ^_^ yeah, haven't you even started reading the blood war arc? :D Don't expect a masterpiece, but it is still brilliant in my opinion :)
( yehh *offers hug to Darcie* well done :D :P
The others seem well adjusted enough star....
Fera whilst I remember .... Did you a see my its ok feel free anytime post and b yes holiday... I thought I said on skype ? I'm in Berwick upon tweed right now , usually near Glasgow in Paisley, you've probably heard of uslol we have this famous tear drop pattern that is all over the world and known as the paisley pattern.)
@Star: I think it would be rather interesting to see how c's brain works.
*accepts Con's hug*
*laughs*
People in my school tended to agree that a Labour/Green coalition would be a fine way to go. :)
But our area is historically very Pro!Labour & No!Conservative because rural Wales and whatnot.
Interestingly, within that, we still have a lot of 'UKIP sounds cool to me' kids, though. More 'UKIP sounds HORRIBLE waht are you talking about?' people. but, yeah. :P
@Star: *hugs*
...When suffragettes were fighting for Womens' Votes & rights, many women said the same thing. They didn't want the vote and they didn't want the rights and what the heck is the point anyway because it's not like that's going to change??????
THings in history like slave trade, or-- I bet people used to think that never in a million years would we be able to set up the NHS and it works?????
Nothing will change immediately, but the entire history of Western society is changes in social conditions and expectations??
(recognising that's not you're argument, but having a response here. :P)
@Taia: XD I like your area.
Yep. I do tell her this. :P But yeah. Yep.
Getting very dark here....eerie out
con: no i didn't see :D
Positives About Cat.
First of all, she actually has empathy and she actually cares about people, and she tries not to be mean to them in case she hurts them.
And she told me just today that I must tell her if she ever went too far with telling me I was weird, beacuse she wasn't very good at seeing when she'd gone too far and she didn't want to hurt me.
She's also very imaginative, and she'll start pretending things, like when her and Lizzie decided there were demons in the air conditioning at New Look and were drawing anti-possession runes and whispering words of exorcism to people as they passed up, or when we went to throw the ring into Mordor at school (Lizzie actually had a ring. XD)
We also do otehr cool stuff like when they insisted they were superior (or like, they weren't really, but if they pretended they were no one would no) and went around school talking in posh accents and trying to walk purposefully, which included no doubling-back so could get rather interesting.
She's also very intelligent, and like . . . that leads to a lot of interesting debates and discussions. Which is very cool. Not everyone will have these discussions with me so when I find someone who will it feels quite special.
Furthermore, she has the kind of brain that has to understand stuff to understand it. Like when they tell us a load of lies that don't add up in GCSE she gets really confused and has to get the teacher to explain what actually happens before she gets it. Whether I just accept that what they tell me must be right and then proceed to try and convince her that it is. :P Rather sheep-like of me.
Also, she's our Gandalf. When me and Lizzie are on our own at lunchtimes we have no clue what to do and we kind of freak out and just go around the school looking for someone to follow. :P Darcie and Cat are the people who we can follow because they, like, actually lead us to do stuff. And, like, having friends with Gandalf qualities is very good when you are a hobbit who needs to follow people. You know how Jai orders me to go to sleep and stuff? Yeah. Well. Cat instructs me to chuck out the paper in my planner in the same manner.
(ooh. rhyme).
She can also talk in sync with Lizzie, or like, she can say one sentence and Lizzie says another to form one coherent paragraph, which is just UNBELIEVABLY cool.
She's also really not afraid to be her. I mean, she's quite good at pretending to be normal and can pull it off, but like . . . she's not at all afraid to run up to random people in our school and ask them if Lizzie or her is more normal, or afraid to grab some random people in a year group below us and ask them what year they think Lizzie's in. And they give her really weirded-out looks but like . . . she doesn't even mind. It's rather cool.
She's also one of those people like . . . well, tehre's some people adn they just ignite conversation. And when tehre isn't one of those people there, it just gets so awkward and quiet because no one knows what to say, and it's really boring. But when conversation-igniters are tehre there's somehow conversation, and it's so much more fun and interesting. The sad thing is, these conversation-igniters will never know the effect they have because they'll never be in a place without a conversation-igniter and so will never experience how awkward and lonely it gets.
Um . . . I kind of need to get to sleep soon.
star: WTF THAT:S SO LONG XD
@Fera: Oh. Glad you think so. I was thinking maybe I should make it longer but like . . . sleep. And effort. I'm rubbish at summing people up.
((@Sophia: Yup.
But---
What if, for example, a person who is extremely homophobic does believe very strongly and actively that men and women should have equal rights and equal opportunities.
By condemning that person as 'wrong opinions and wrong beliefs and idiot' because of one belief, you are in turn labelling the OTHER opinion as that of an idiot, too.
(And I'm suddenly getting An Inspector Calls flashbacks, because when Ol' Mr Birling starts pompously claiming that the Titanic is absolutely unsinkable and OF COURSE war isn't ACTUALLY going to break out-- and the audience are watching with families directly affected by the sinking of the Titanic and having just been through two World Wars (if I remember the time setting and the actual date of publishing correctly on that part??), and they're thinking, golly, what an IDIOT, and you begin, whether you intend to or not, to invalidate a lot of what he says, and you come to question his beliefs more easily because he's wrong about SO MUCH. It served as a very effective device in delivering a political message there, and I don't see why it wouldn't have a similar effect in real life, too?)
I COMPLETELY agree, don't tolerate discrimination and sexism -- but I think we should base criticisms on the ISSUE and not on the people who believe them.
Also, if somebody tells you 'YOu're an idiot', that gives you no reason to actually change your belief, and probably just peeves you off and makes you more stubborn?
Which is another way of looking at it))
( well yeh honestly thought it went without saying because we always talk on skype now lol so yeh anytime you need to talk just pop up i don't mind helping :D *hugs*
*hugs darcie* :P
I often think I can guess rather well how someone is seeing the world.

@Taia: YES.
I kind of completely fell for it the first time through, but then after like, writing an entire exam on it -
well, it was really rather horrible of Priestley. Capitalists can be decent people too. -_-
And, yeah. I tend to believe that even people with the most horrible of beliefs can still be good people. They're just, according to my perception of life, wrong good people. So I initiate arguments with them. :)
(And Cat has ctually seriously proven me wrong in the past. See? Education.)
sorry, i just looked at it and i was like hole hell :D read the entire thing, and she does seem quite cool ^_^
@Fera: Yussssss.

Thank you.
She just doesn't like admitting when she's wrong. At all. And she also has some very controversial beliefs. And she also tends to word things in quite a definite hostile manner.

*points to several reasons why you're so wonderful in that comment right there*
And- Yeah, Yeah.
And I mean- What if, in AIC - Birling had said something about homosexuality being, actually, not bad?
And, given (again, don't remember the date we're looking at here, so not certain) that homosexuality was (may have been) considered a MENTAL ILLNESS by the audience at that point in history -- they probably would have gone 'lmao as if' (100% accurate historical dialogue); whereas, if at the end of the book, when the younger generation are having their 'actually, hold on, because morally- we're still horrible people????' realisation and whatnot - if they'd argued the same point then, people might have gone 'Huh, that might have some credibility.'
idk where I'm going with that
It's very easy to build opinions based on what people tell you, and who those people are, and what you know about them and what they've said before.
And somehow that links into what I said before and what you said just there.
*nods uncertainly*
( short* lol
I bracket to keep keiron off the battlefield ... Brackets make me feel safe )
@Darcie: . . . .
Yeahhhhhhh . . . .
. . .
. . . .
@Taia: :) Awwwh. Thanks.
And - yep.
*nods*
Yep. :)
(Somehow, I don't think Birling would think homosexuality is bad, but like . . . I don't like Birling. Obviously. But there are plenty of likeable capitalists out there.)
@Elleni: I am always a ninja owl.
I am just sometimes so ninja-y you do not see me.
*nods*

Wtf did I jsut say.
@Fera: O_O O_O

@Elleni: Ah . . . see, if you were also telepathic, you would hear my thoguhts whenever I was nearby and so my ninja skills would fail on you. -_- Awwhhh.
@Conductor: Elleni is cool. She agrees with us. :P
(why are my comments so FAR BEHIND WHERE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ?
I AM LOSING MY TOUCH)
(*hugs Fera because that's a lot of smiles and I feel inclined to approve*)
