As for those who cursed me for drawing it out so long, all I can say is... "heh." It amuses me to torture you, have you not learned this yet?
Over the coming weeks and months you'll be finding out a lot more about Demon Road, but I figured I'd answer a few questions now.
For starters, this is NOT the cover.

The ACTUAL cover, and the new cover artist, will be revealed in due time.
The release date is, as you can see, the 27th of August. Yesterday we said the 28th, but we figured out a way to get it to you a day earlier, and we took it.
Demon Road is both the name of the first book AND the name of the overall trilogy.
It WILL be a trilogy.
The books will be released 6 months apart. This is the way the publishing industry is going, to be honest — especially for children's books/YA. It's a hectic, bruising schedule, which will mean I'm gonna be overworked for the rest of the year, but hey... I'm quite looking forward to it, actually. I always felt bizarrely guilty for making you wait a year between Skulduggery books, so I'm going to see if this way is better.
Ah yes, and it will be Young Adult as well. There's nothing in it (yet) that is amazingly inappropriate for younger readers — maybe a word or two, slipping into older territory — but it's just the overall feel of the thing.
I'm TRYING to write shorter books. I was aiming for a Dark Days length, roughly 80,000 words. I have to write three of these books this year, and I can't have them spiralling out of control like Skulduggery did. I'm currently at 91,000 words. Hopefully I won't go above 100,000, which is roughly where Mortal Coil was. Hopefully.
Right now, I've only signed a contract with Harper Collins UK, which will publish the books in Ireland, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, and Canada. Over the next while, I'll be signing with foreign language publishers also — but for most of them, I'll need to show them the finished book. Harper UK trust me enough to sign a contract with what they've already seen of the book as I'm writing it.
There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be published in America as well.
Oh, and yes, I will be touring with Demon Road, but it's far too early to say where.

I am now allowed to have a sleepover for my birthday in a couple of weeks time but I have to invite that really immature girl. And this will sound SO mean and bitchy but in a way I don't want to because I know that while me and the others are having a good time and acting like stupid teenagers she'll be acting like a stupid five year old and I just don't want her to "ruin" my night with all her silliness (again this sounds ridiculously mean but I just know it will happen and want to avoid it). Maybe last year this would have been fine, we would both be jumping on the beds screaming and doing old bad dance moves or whatever but now I want something more mature and with her there it may not be possible...)

(And also, when I took selfies with people yesterday we were all smiles and the occaisional pout, but with her she always does cheesy grins and silly faces with rolled eyes and tongues out and things I grew out of when I was three. Then she goes ahead and posts them on ig or Facebook and everyone says to me "why do you even hang out with her, she's so weird..." And sometimes I actually have to agree...)

Well, we've sanded the floor, painted the ceiling, moved the bed to a corner of the room, painted all the floor that the bed wasn't in, painted it again sic hours later . . . that was last night so then I went to sleep in my sisrer's room, then at eight this morning we painted the skirting boards, then we wallpapers two walls, and now we've moved my bed back (so I can get in it, so I'm 'up' again . . . my jokes suck :P) and given the rest of the floor a coat of paint. We'll give it a second coat tonight.

((Because we revently watched the first Sherlick episoee for about the third or four time, and then we watched itvagain about a week later with my brother, and like, the first time or two I read books I read it from tge perspective of the cgwracter it's written from . . . and then later on I look at it from other charactr's perspectives. And yeah, so usually I watch the episode as John, but these time or this time I watched ir as Sherlock, which was rather interesting.))

Let her go and take off my hat now !It does not suit you better. *absorbs the shadows that are dangling him and Ariadne into his suit, steady streams of darkness entering his bones and crawling over his sleeves* What kind of foul darkness is this, it's powerful but horrid. * drops to the ground as black armour starts to bulge it's way through until he is completely covered in shadow.* No one takes my hat and my friend prisoner at the same time without consequences. *flicks his wrist and a tendon of shadows flicks his hat back towards his armour, it lands perfectly on his helmet and is absorbed on to his skull below* There that's better, now we can fight.
