Wow.
What a few days.
The Requiem Ball was beautiful chaos. People came in ballgowns and jeans and tuxedos and T-shirts, but everyone was wearing a mask, and everyone was equal. The Bleeding Heart Crypt was where the first book was launched, way back in 2007, and so it was a fitting venue to see off the final part of the series. I laughed, I chatted, I posed for selfies, and then I signed.
And it was a good day.
The signings in Ringwood and Bournemouth were great fun, and of course Bluewater was as manic as ever (five and half hours of signing books and chatting to people... yikes...). On Sunday I did my first event for this tour, and I read out a few bits that had been cut from the first book, all those years ago. And then I signed for a few more hours.
And the response has been exactly what I was hoping for. The one thing that was so vital to me was to give the series a fitting end — an ending it deserved. My mission was to both confirm and confound your expectations, and by what I've been reading online, it looks like I've succeeded.
And the most awesome thing? The lack of spoilers. Sure, there are spoilers out there, but most people have been really considerate of others. Even in the Spoiler Zone to this very blog, folks are content to talk AROUND the subject, rather than address it directly. This is HUGELY appreciated.
The book has been selling really well, from what I hear. I loved the excitement generated around the Black Edition — minions were waiting for stores to open and then rushing inside, trying to find those hidden tomes. It was, in a word, awesome.
And now I'm wrecked.

(I think it's mostly due to me not wearing makeup though.)
(@Star we decided to measure if I was growing. So over a couple of months we measured my height against them and a wall. We didn't mark the wall so when using that we kind of had to remember where the last mark was and my friends still had a habit of growing so for ages I thought I was shrinking...)

That reminded me of last yearStar, I was waiting for a fried in the slums that are called the school toilets. these girls asked me what year I was in and they were surprised that I was older than them, I guess my long hair made me look younger.
Cutting my hair was one of my best life choices

I remember once when I was in year seven and I met these girls in the toilets (well, they were hanging around and they just started talking to me whenever I went in there. I began avoiding those toilets after a few meetings like this :P) and they were surprised when I said I was only in year seven.

Everyone does their makeup in the toilets so it's really hard to actually get to a sink because of all the bags in them and the girls standing in front of them . . .

(Because there wasn't enough seats attached to the table. And I refused to sit on my own just so i could eat. So I had to kneel down (despite me being the midget and seeming even smaller when I kneel) and eat like that..)
We eat lunch sat on the field, and the weather was good
I ate in a unfamiliar cafeteria and it had these awkward benches

Ah, I remember when we used to eat on the field, and then play king of the hill, which involves us running up a bank will the guys tried to tackle us to the ground
(and they tried to kick me and my friends out while we were still eating despite it still being our lunch time all because the year sevens had come in and the tables had run out.)
If you have a pack up, you can basically eat lunch anywhere. *shrugs*
We've never gone onto the field. We haev no idea why. It's great there. :)

We always end up being asked the way to a lesson by a year 7 and we give stupidly long directions or sometimes Hogwarts classes and wait for them to realise.
(No cause even when I DID sleep I didn't grow so j figured i may as well enjoy myself if I'm not growing.)

OH MY GOSH THOUGH my sister was a year seven last year, and I swear, a group of her from asked me the way, and I told them which way I thought it was, and they just ignored me and went "maybe it's this way" and ran off in the oppsoite direction so I followed like "Really not sure it's this way, guys . . ." and then they got tehre and they went "It's not here!" and started panicking and so I just walked off in the correct direction and after a while they followed.
Then I found out later that they blamed me bacuse apparently I'd sent them the wrong way in the first place.
