The final book.
The last Skulduggery.
I've been writing these books since 2005, so for me it's been nine years of living with these characters, in this world. I knew saying goodbye was not going to be easy...
But I haven't had to say goodbye yet. Not really. I wrote the book. I edited. I went through it again and again. I decided on covers, on approaches. I approved tour schedules and special events. I prepared. I tweeted. I blogged. I kept busy. I kept looking forward...
But now... now (most of) the preparation is done. I just have to turn up now, and talk, or sign, or talk and sign, and meet people and go places.
It's going to sink in NOW. I can feel it.
No more Skulduggery Pleasant.
I'm going to give my usual "No Spoilers" speech now. So, like, no spoilers, people. The comment section above is for spoilers, not this one.
But even outside of this blog, please be considerate of your fellow Minions. Don't go blasting spoilers on Facebook or Twitter or Tumblr. Be subtle about it, and if you can't be subtle, go LOUD with the spoiler warning.
And when I say spoiler I don't just mean" "Oh my god, I can't believe THIS CHARACTER did THAT to THAT OTHER CHARACTER!"
I also mean spoilers in a more general sense. For example, saying things like: "Derek, I can't believe you did that! I'll never forgive you! How could you?? That was my favourite character!!"
Or: "I'm so delighted! I loved it and the ending was just what I wanted!"
You have friends, Minions, who know your hopes and dreams. They know your favourite characters. They know what you're dreading. So don't confirm any of these things when you comment, even if you make sure not to get too specific. If you love the book, tell me. If you hate the book, tell me that too. But keep in mind that other people will be reading, and if you give away what kind of ending the book has, you've just cheated them out of finding out for themselves.
I love your enthusiasm. Your enthusiasm makes these books what they are. So while you're being considerate of your friends, be sure to revel in your enthusiasm, and your excitement, and your dread, and your horror, and your happiness and your despair.
I hope you like it.

Bye...)
Bye Deathy!
Sigh. Stupid gerbils.
What are they doing?
Hello?
Is anyone here?
Well, I just want to say, I have decided to join this blog. I've been watching for a bit and I have decided it's time. So hello fellow minions. I'm Forget Me Not.
Oh anothet one.
Um Hi? What do you mean 'oh. Another one'?
Hi Elleni! How are you?
Ah, ok. Loki the Jerk. I'll remember that.
Thanks! Yeah, I've noticed. I've been reading a couple comments.
No, I just love the flowers.
Is there a story behind your name?
I am not a jerk, I am a god.
((Hi, this is Zafira Kerias, I roleplay Loki.-Zaf
Hi Zafira. You are the same Zafira as in the books right? The Grand Mage?
And Loki, you are a jerk. Except for with Death Rose.
Ah, I hope I can meet Silente tomorrow but I'm not sure I can. We'll see how I feel...
Well, it makes sense Death Rose doesn't see him as a jerk. He's always sweet to her.
so we were using clay in science and the black and white clay got mixed together and...
to make the best of the situation i made a clay elephant. and it's soooo cute. :) (profile picture)
Hi Snow! Nice to meet you!
That's a good idea! But it's not set as your profile picture if that's what you tried to do! :)
Yup! That's me, the character is based off of me, well I guess she really is me. -Zaf
I am not...never mind.
Oh, never mind! It's so cute!
XD i saw that, so... REPOST XD
Hi. Nice to meet you.
hmm... what to call you...
I SHALL CALL YOU KNOT
That's so cool Zafira!
Yeah but I don't know when I'll be on next. My author will only be me when she's in a certain mood.
ah, got to go back to science BYE
Good bye Snow!
Hmm, Knot. Ok!
Oh I got to go, dinner. I'm not sure when I'll be back.
never mind. i am, apparently, not needed.
-.-'
make up your mind, teacher.
I'm working on something pretty cool I'll show you guys in a Blog Post-Zaf
Hey peeps!!!
Gasp in the beauty of the blob fish!!!!
ELLENI!!!!!!
*get tackled*
*rolls over so she's on top*
Aha! Gotcha!
Kk ^.^
WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
*pins Elleni's hands to her side's*
I got you!
*turns into a kitten*
(O.o that worked out well...)
*gets pushed*
*turns back into a human and stands up, brushing off her legs*
So. Hi!
Can you go to the ball?
Are you going with anyone? Is it on Saturday?
I hope you can! Are you going with anyone?
No! I wasn't planning on going with anyone! Don't worry!
And I'm not sure it's really at date.
At least I think..
Yep, El. You need a date.
And Loki has now come available....
Um, Rose, two things.
One, Why do you need a date?
And why is Loki available?
Well, you don't REALLY need one. But who are you going to dance with?
First year: Eden.
Second: BeachBall. Still the best name he's come up with.
Third: *Possibly missing this one* Loki...
Oh, and HI DEATHY!!!!!! How be's yous?! How be's yous eyes?!
Oooohhhhhhhh, I was talking in character! I get it now!
So, (as a character) are you going with anyone?
You need a date so you can have someone you can always dance with, and I won't be here this weekend, so Loki, who I was originally going with, is now available...
But if someone tries something with him, I will kill him.
Ah, that makes sense Deathy. Yeah...
Egg asked me.
My eyes are sore... Ammonia from hair dye still hurts from yesterday...
Aw, I hope they don't stay sore for long!
And your hair didn't look bad! Though I did really like it before..
Um, I think four. I'm pretty sure Zaffy said 7 pm her time and midnight blog time.
Thanks Dug. I hate it now.
I loved it the way it was...
No, Zaf is 3 hours ahead, so 4. Blog time is 8 hours ahead.
That's too bad...
I got a big hair cut and I'm still not sure... I need to get used to it. But people like it so....
It's not bad. Just very different. (Mine and yours, but if you don't like it...
That's most important.)
Saturday for us. And I really don't think you need a date. It's not like I (and Dugglyn TC) know any kind of dance other than Irish dance.....
So you can borrow Egg.
Mum got it.
Oh...
Maybe you could still curl it? Not not straighten it? So it looks similar? And/or clip back your bangs? It might help it...
Yeah, I completely understand El. I'm not sure either...
(No offense...)
Mum got the book.
**or not not
Ooooohhhhbhhhh! That's great Deathy! You're so lucky! What cover?
Guys if you go on my Blog: Random Things That Do Matter you'll see two new posts, they are the Asgardians and a character I've introduced briefly.-Zaf
Rose, will you be around in my morning time tomorrow, or should I offer you a dance now?
Hmm, I'm trying to find a dress. It's not working. It has to be light blue with some pink. Like me mask.
I have other characters...Aro is a single man, he's my Sense-Warden.-Zaf
The regular cover, the smoking skull.
I might be here for your tomorrow morning... Maybe... Fifty-fifty chance.
Then, perhaps I ought to offcially dance with you, Rose. Pre-Requim Ball stuff, you know.
Ooooooooo, that cover's cool!!! Of course I would say that no matter what.
I would be honoured, Loki.
*takes her hand, and dances with her, a shockingly slow dance, but he actually knows how to dance*
Okay, if nobody else claims the spot, would anyone be objected to me holding the Ball on Asgard?-Zaf
*She laughed quietly and looked up at him*
You can dance...?
I can, yes. I do take the time to actually learn the fine arts, Thor and I both taught ourselves, we do hold balls on Asgard.
Gtg, bye!!!
*She looped her arms around the back of his neck to pull his face to hers, continuing to dance with him*
Well, there you go. A God who dances with me... Aw.
I'm finding outfits for basically every character I've ever created...
What am I doing?
It's not like I'm going to go...
(You should come, Fabi!)
*laughs* I can do a lot of things, I am often considered to be very well rounded.
((Oh my god, Rose. The thought Loki just had is crazy, I told him to wait....damned fool.-Zaf
Come, Fabi, everyone is invited.-Zaf
Well, you don't look very round to me. You look way too tall.
*She pursed her lips and pushed herself off the floor a foot with gravity so she was closer to his height*
Now we look a little better. A little more even.
(What was the thought...?)
((I can't tell you...-Zaf
*smirks* My short, fun sized Midgardian. I love you, Rose.
Thank you, but no.
If one of my characters really wants to attend, then maybe, but most likely no.
[hugs]
(Okay. I won't pry anymore.)
*She kissed the smirk off his lips*
You, my dear God, are way too tall for your own good.
(*Cuddles Fabi*
Okay...)
I'm sorry...
(It's okay, Fab. <3 )
I am normal sized. *rolls eyes* Did I ever tell you I made a deal with the Devil?
(Might vanish for a few moments while I get to maths. Then I'd be back on here until the end of school... I think...)
Wait. What? A deal with the...
*She looked at him wearily for a moment, stopping the dance*
Explain.
((Well if I vanish I fell asleep xD you know me...Zaffy tends to fall asleep.-Zaf
He is not Satan, more like...Overlord of Hell. Lucifer Black is his name. Damned man tried to damn me to Hell, he did not suceed, but the price was easy to pay, he asked me to kill a demon. Worth it too, but Lucifer recently visited me...a few hours ago.
(I know Zaf very well...)
Why did he want to send you to Hell in the first place? What did he want just before? Why?
*She let her arms fall to her sides and dropped back to the floor*
I killed eighty people in two days. *shrugs* Lucifer wanted to see me, mostly to see why I was on Midgard, he and I have a mutual relationship.
(It's Cake Friday in maths!!)
Oh. Oh yeah. You two would be best buddies... I don't want him near you. I don't want him anywhere near you. He has to stay away.
*She shook her head and took his hand in hers, holding it to her face*
Please... He's not going to be hanging around, is he?
No, of course not. He's got Hell to run.
But... If he had time to visit you...
The twins...
*She pulled away quickly and ran towards the house, fearing the twins saftey*
*follows her* Demons cannot enter the house, he visited me hen I was on Asgard
*She stopped and turned to him. Her voice wavered with fear*
How the Hell, forgive the damned pun, and that one too, did the Devil go to Asgard?!
I dedicate this page to TDOTL, and Derek Landy.
-Zaf
They can roam freely, if they choose, he got lucky usually they never make it.
(Hear hear)
Oh God.
*Her head fell in her hands*
Oh please, God no. This is actually the worst thing I can possibly think of.
Rose!!!! Calm down okay? We actually already made sure he can never get anywhere near us, please relax.
Thor: Rose, demons can no longer enter in a mile of the house.
But what if they find a way?! What happens if-
Nevermind.
*She turned and stalked away, muttering quietly to herself*
(Goodnight, Zaf.)
I hate it when you actually know how to do something in maths. Then you can't skip it...
Uh, El, can you be my fashion designer from this second on?
<3
I'm sorry, but the second one makes you look like an ice cream...
There's chocolate, strawberry and vanilla...
Hey Dragona!
(What do I think of what?)
(Well... They're very dress-y.
Bye Elleni!)
Bye El!
Ohh... School's out.
I'll be back in an hour or so!
(Bye Rose!)
Actually, I might be here for a few minutes...
msd...
(Okay. :P)
D:
They didn't have the book
I left school early and they didn't have it. They did, however, promise to keep one aside for me when they come in.
And I was the only one that got that offer. My brother didn't.
One up side of being a girl.
(Snow - that's good.)
*nods*
Now I'm off to read the books I need to for school.
(Lol. Ok.
I have to go now. Bye!)
@Elleni: The purple/first one. :)
HAI GUYS IF ANYBODY'S ON IT'S FRIDAY WHOOOO AND I GET TO WATCH DOCTOR WHO AND SLEEP IN AND NOT CARE ABOUT HOMEWORK :)
Only for two days, yeah, but don't burst my bubble. :P
I said I'd post a comment on picking SP up for the first time...
If anybody comes on, wbd for a bit
So I, um, forgot my retainer when I went on holiday, and last night I put it back in again and now my teeth HURT.
Ow. -_-
*hugs Star* :(
Hey Taia. :)
I'm just like "How will I eat?" :P
Hey, Star. :)
Aw. :P
How are you doing, aside from that? ^^
I just ate cereal and it was okay, yay. :)
Good, thanks. :) Just got home last night. :)
How're you?
So. This is it.
I picked up Skulduggery Pleasant from my class library actually, almost two years ago (this was in November, I think). My best friend would be moving continent in a few months. I know, it's not heartbreakingly sad or anything but that's what happened.
It was a book that stood out because the title was... Brilliant. It stood out, y'know?
So I walked over and I pulled it out. It was the US cover of a skeleton jumping or something. Okay, I thought. This looks nice. Horror-ish. And heh. The blurb is pretty funny.
It was nearing 3 o'clock on a Friday afternoon. I absolutely hated school back then, as some of the kids in my class were full of shittake mushrooms and my teacher was, let's just say she wasn't the best, so I was pretty excited to be getting out. I went home, but didn't read until about 10 pm, a rare feat for me.
So I picked up the book. Read the dedication. Smiled a little. Read the first sentence.
And I was hooked.
The words flowed and weaved together. I gasped at all the right places. I laughed. Dear God, did I laugh. I sat there in my beanbag under the lamp and I read like I'd never before. Only three other book whatever-the-plural-is-for-series grabbed my attention like this. Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl and His Dark Materials.
So this book, this book was Hoover Dam good.
I remember looking down at my watch after I'd reached the halfway point. It was around 11:30 pm (which fur me is pretty late. What do you expect from a person who wakes up at 7 am on weekends on her own accord?)
I slept, dreamed about magic and velvety voices, and I woke up at seven. Had breakfast and a shower. Then I started reading again.
We had a thing in the afternoon and I wasn't allowed to bring a book. So I fidgeted (which is pretty rare for me) and waited and waited for it to end.
As soon as wnt family reached the front door of our house, I ran inside to my room and started reading again, poring over each page.
Soon enough, the book finished. I sat there for some time, thinking about the book. There was a second one, I knew. And a third. Hopefully, more and more and more.
A few months later I found the rest of the books, right up to KOTW. They progressed and became darker and darker. My best friend moved and since most of the other kids were catty and snide and mean (most, but not all) I turned to books. They were reliable. Solid. Dependable.
I had friends, yes, but they were fairweather friends. Books didn't abandon people. They were dependable. They didn't leave you in the rain without an umbrella. They didn't backbite.
And then I read KOTW.
It was wonderful. The banter was sharp and witty and I needed that. I needed something to laugh at.
Then the book was nearly finished. The epilogue was on the next page. I read it.
I didn't get any sleep that night.
It was sitting there on my desk while Kitana and Doran and Sean stared out at me. I actually, physically felt like throwing up. It sickened me, that epilogue. I didn't want to read any more SP books.
Months later, I rediscovered it, and remembering how much I liked it, reread it. Thank God for that. I discovered the blog and a few months later set up an account and met you guys.
Now the last book has come out.
And I want to say:
Thank you, Derek Landy.
God, that comment is long. XD
*for.
Not fur. :P
@Fay: *hugs* That's beautiful . . . :) :) :)
Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks. :) *hugs back*
Wbd as I have a Freddo Frog to eat. :)
Freddos! :) We used to have them on Thursdays . . .
Yay! :)
More yay! (:P) Ah, welcome back, then. C:
I'm good, too. Ill, but that's not too bad atm. I also want to draw Hagrid at some point, and that could prove fun. :P Thanks for asking. :)
Also, mbd. I keep forgetting that the F5 key doesn't refresh the page on its own. P
@Taia: Well, I hope you get better soon, and yay Hagrid! :)
And - *laughs*
*has always used riight-click, myself, because it took me a few years to realise that F5 refreshed . . .*
And the BEST thing is, if our campervan hadn't broken down, we wouldn't actually be home yet!
(Maybe. We might be. We'd get off the ferry this morning.)
(And might I say, whizzing from Italy to England in a couple of hours made our massive two-day trek from England to Italy seem a bit redundant . . . :P)
@Fay: :) :) :)
Thank you for sharing that. :)
...I don't remember first reading Skulduggery, honestly. I know it was either 2007 or '08. We read it in class, but I'm fairly certain I'd had it a while before that.
Freddo! :3
@Star: THanks. :D
Didn't know you COULD refresh by right clicking?? I use the button at the tip of the browser, if not F5 (or fn+F5, damnit :P). ^^
@Star: YOur campervan broke down? :/
*laughs* :P
I guess that's, like, the difference between a road trip and a, uh, non-road-trip holiday? (*facepalms*) Like... idk. But I figure there's an appeal in travelling, still, otherwise people wouldn't do it?
*doesn't have the experience, really :P*
You read it in CLASS? O_O
I like your class. :P
And - you right-click and a load of otpions come up, and then you click on 'refresh' (or 'reload' if you're on Firefox).
So it's longer because it involves clicking, scrolling and clicking again. :P
And - yes, it did. Did you not know?
Well, it didn't really break down. The fan belt was slipping off so stopped and phoned for help, then they towed us to a garage, noticed our overflow on our diesel tank was off, spent a few hours messing with that, broke our overflow pipe, couldn't get more parts in Italy, deemed us unfixable and we had to get our insurance to fly us home.
ALL WE WANTED WAS THE DAMN FAN BELT TIGHTENING. :P
I guess so. But really, we just wanted to go in our campervan, and you can't really fly campervans. :P
*options
*and we thoguht it was only slipping off because it had been in a wet campsite for the past week
*and normally we wouldn't have done anything about it but we were going to drive through the Alps
*SO, it wasn't Campy's fault :( :(
THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS, TAIAAA! :) :)
*hugs*
*appreciates specific comments* *plus compliments are happiness-inducing :)*
@Star: ...Huh. I never knew that. ^^
Also, it says 'reload' on Chrome, at least for me. :P
*shakes head* Aw, that sucks, Star. :( :( :(
And, *nods* That's a fair reason, in iteself.
Well, I've never had Chrome. :P It's 'refresh' on Internet Explorer . . .
It was okay. 'Twas an ADVENTURE. :)
I guess so. :)
YOU'ER WELCOME STAR! :) :) :P
*hugs back*
I was just like OH MY GOSH THERE'S A TONNE OF WORDART I HAVEn'T SEEN WHERE HAVE I BEEN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS??? And so I figured it'd make sense to just comment on a few things in one. And, yeah. :)
*nods* :P
Chrome has just been my go-to browser, for a while, because Explorer got really slow, and Firefox was always slow, and now it's just habit, I think.
And, that's good, then. :3
(CRAP.
Noooooooooooooooooooo.
My bookmarks didn;t get backed up.
I mean, I needed to sort through them, anyway.
And at least now I don't have to DO that.
BUt still, aw. :()
@Taia: :) *hugs* Thanks, again. :)
Well, my laptop asked me if I wanted to change when I got Windows 8.1, so I just decided to give Firefox a go. It's much better than Internet Explorer. :)
'Twas. 'Tis. :)
(DAMMIT. D: D:
Did you have a lot?)
Uploading my ALS Icebucket challenge to my RoD blog in a sec...
Once it loads...
And done.
http://rosesofdeaths.blogspot.com.au/
My friend wanted to nominate me for the icebucket challenge, but I was in Italy. :P
*hugs back* :)
*nods* Cool. :)
(Yes. A LOT. O_O
BUt, idk. The majority would have been deleted when I went through them. It's not exactly a very big loss, and it saves me a lot of time, sooooo...
*nods*
*got over that pretty quickly. :P*)
The rest of my family are having ice cream. They said I can't have any because I was the one that left a little bit left in the container.
I actually haven't had any ice cream... From that container, at least.
Yaaaay!
That looks HORRIBLE. O_O
*HATES cold water D: D:*
@Taia: :( :( :( Well, yay for getting over. :)
I used to have tons. Now I have, um, two. :P
Bare in mind, that it is winter here too. Ice water. Winter. Night.
I'm frozen.
Well, at least your winters are warmer than ours . . . :P
I hate cold, as well. :( :(
Like I said, it looks HORRIBLE. D:
It's 6*C here...
And it was horrible...
Hey, Rose! *hugs* :)
In winter? At night? Looks cold. :S
Well done for doing it. *nods* ^^
And- *hugs* :/
Is there at least anything else you could have? (Maybe something warmer, if you're frozen? :P)
@Star: Somebody who was in my form did it while he was in Italy.
The only bucket they could find was not much bigger than a teacup, though. :P
@Star/2: :)
:P I have a whole fresh start which I may or may not clutter up again, now. :)
*Hugs Taia back*
Yep. And Yep. And definitely... Brrrrr...
Thanks!
*Cuddles instead of hugs because hugs are too repetitive*
I've got coffee, two blankets and The Dying of the Light. I think I'm set.
(Hello.)
(The ice bucket challenge killed a Scottish teenager.)
@Rose: *huggleS* Oh, good. :3
Hey, Dragona!
:/
Not the ice bucket challenge alone, I think? :/
(And has also caused quite a lot of health issues due to the fact it can trigger the cold shock reflex which makes you hyperventilate. It is not healthy.)
@Taia: Well, I used me being in Italy as an excuse. :P
And - good luck. :)
Hey Dragona. :)
And - really? O_O
(Hey Raisin!)
(Hey Star!
Wbd.)
@Dragona: I expect that's true. But you can't argue that it's not raising MASSIVE awareness for the cause. I don't think I could argue for or against it, because I don't know, but... I think if people are careful, and minimize the risk to themselves... idk. I don't know. ^^
MSD
Crossing the road is dangerous. *shrugs*
(Raisin - my opinion on the issue is that it's for a good cause - and I can respect that. But you could just donate money to the charity instead, you know?
The act itself is pointless - it doesn't do anything for the charity other than raise awareness, which they could accomplish by other non-dangerous ways. Other than that - it is simply a trend for attention seeking celebrities.
I also think that doing something for charity is something you should CHOOSE to do, not that you be challenged to do.
I'm of the mindset that even if someone challenged me 100 times I would not do it. :P
Then there's the health risks. Which you know, are quite considerable for something set up by a charity.)
That guy who died, I'm reading up on him now, died not due to the Ice Bucket Challenge. Not technically.
He jumped into a disused quarry. Shallow water. Feet first.
Anyone could have done that. And, no offence to the late Mr Lancaster or his friends and family, but that was stupid. Jumping off a 25 metre high cliff into shallow water of a disused quarry.
(Rose - his death would not have happened if it were not for the ice bucket challenge. Therefore it is to blame.)
And then a woman died after she did the ice bucket challenge while sitting on a horse. It freaked when the cold water hit it.
That too, I'm not all too surprised.
People ought to think about the dangers involved with the stupid, risky ones. The challenges where it's just a bucket and that's it, they're fine.
On the contrary, that quarry is a very popular place for teens to go swimming. They regularly jump off those cliffs.
'She said the quarry was a popular site for youngsters in the region to swim.'
So really, it was only a matter of time.
(Rose - no. They're not fine. They're slightly less risky. It can cause heart attacks by itself and all sorts.)
@Dragona: I think so long as the charity gets money, it doesn't matter how it does, y'know?
(Unless it's money stolen or from murder or whatever.)
They're perfectly fine. Mild shock when hit by water.
I was in pajamas, in 6*C conditions. You just go for a little run. That's all.
(It can cause cardiac arrhythmias which can be very dangerous - potentially fatal.)
It's really not that bad. It's not even absolutely freezing. it's just being suddenly soaked with water that makes you squeal.
Ice water isn't actually that cold.
(Whilst eating a meal, you could slip and stab yourself in the eye with a fork.)
(You risk your life every time you go on the motorway, because what if you crash?)
(Correction - yours wasn't that bad. I'm pretty sure numerous people across the world who have suffered side effects would disagree.)
(I got icy cold water chucked on me in year eight. The school soak everyone in year eight like this every year, and so they must have poured cold water on thousands of students over the years, and have any of them died yet?)
(It's a very minimal chance.)
(Star - as I said on email - life is dangerous. There's no reason to put yourself at any more risk.)
(Well, it wasn't literally icy. It was just VERY VERY COLD AND IT WAS HORRIBLE.)
You could have an aneurysm any second. Like now.
Or now.
Or even now.
Or a plane could fall on your house right now.
Or your device you're using right now could send out a large electrical shock through your body and stop your heart.
Every second we could die.
I just tuned a guitar. I have never done tht before. I play bass, it was not a base I tuned, just an acoustic.
I than proceeded to play every song I know on piano on the guitar.
How--
Sometimes I puzzle myself
(People never think something will happen to them. Until it does.)
Snow, that's pretty damn cool.
(Rose - so why put yourself at greater risk?)
I know. But if any of those things I just said happens, you still wouldn't know that it happened and you died.
Hmmm
I honestly don't know how I did it though.
I am confused.
Because life is boring without dangers.
Would you live in a life where you couldn't get hurt and could only die from old age? Where everything is bubble-wrapped and all the sharp edges were made blunt? Where you couldn't possibly think of falling over and no pain would arise? No consequences for your actions?
Because that sounds like a pretty boring world.
@Dragona: Yup. No reason to get in an aeroplane to go anywhere. Oh, no need to travel more than a few meters away from your home either. Scratch that, no need to travel off your street.
Maybe I risked my life by going to Italy, but are you really never going o go out of the house because of all the potential harm you could put yourself in? If so, then you probably offically have some sort of mental disorder (not that that's a bad thing, I'm just pointing out how mad it is.)
Actually, the majority of accidents happen at home.
Maybe we should all lock ourselves in prison cells.
I think risking my life in a minor way is a good enough price to pay to go to Italy, because we're not LIKELY to fall off the mountain or crash the car or crash the plane. I also think that the minor risks of getting icy water chucked on your don't qualify for a good enough reason not to do it, although I'm more speaking socially than charity-ly . . .
I agree, though, that charity-wise, you should just donate money.
Where in Italy did you go, Ink? And when...?
Like Death said . . .
Never doing anything that could end your life means that you're not actually alive.
I think taking risks gives you more life than otherwise.
(Unless it's a big risk. You can live more by taking little risks and not dying. :P)
Hey Snow! :)
O_O
You're magic. :P
@Death: Um, to the north. Like, we just hopped over the border so we could say we'd been. :P
We did go to Milan on the last day, but all I saw of it was the airport so I'm not sure that counts . . .
And I just went. Got back last night. :)
My parents say I just have a way with music.
I'm not so sure.
I think I just pay attention to the information I'm given and use all resources provided to complete a task
Ah, I went to Italy earlier this year. Great place. When from north to south. And went through Austria and little of Germany. Europe's beautiful.
(The fact that every action has a consequence is reason enough NOT to take risks.
I don't understand why people enjoy taking risks. The more risks you take, the more you get hurt. FACT.
It is more logical and sensible not to take risks. FACT.
If you were in a game show, would you gamble the money you were given at the chance of getting more?
I wouldn't. Don't gamble what you were given.
You were given a life by your parents. Be careful with it.)

― William G.T. Shedd
I really should be practicing bass before lessons tomorrow....
But
Acoustic is fun to fiddle with and I don't have to worry about my amp.
@Snow: Based on that comment, I think you have a way with music. :)
@Dragona: Well, you shouldn't take SEVERE risks.
And it's because it's more FUN. Life is emotion, emotion is life and all that.
That's like saying "I don't understand why people love people. The more you love, the more you get hurt."
“So we shall let the reader answer this question for himself: who is the happier man, he who has braved the storm of life and lived or he who has stayed securely on shore and merely existed?”
― Hunter S. Thompson
“There is no intensity of love or feeling that does not involve the risk of crippling hurt. It is a duty to take this risk, to love and feel without defense or reserve.”
― William S. Burroughs
“If you don't take risks, you'll have a wasted soul.”
- Drew Barrymore
“Never was anything great achieved without danger.”
― Niccolò Machiavelli
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”
― Theodore Roosevelt, Strenuous Life
“Fortune sides with him who dares.”
― Virgil
“Risk means 'shit happens' or 'good luck”
― Toba Beta, Betelgeuse Incident: Insiden Bait Al-Jauza
“Pitiful is the person who is afraid of taking risks. Perhaps this person will never be disappointed or disillusioned; perhaps she won’t suffer the way people do when they have a dream to follow. But when that person looks back – and at some point everyone looks back – she will hear her heart saying, “What have you done with the miracles that God planted in your days? What have you done with the talents God bestowed on you? You buried yourself in a cave because you were fearful of losing those talents. So this is your heritage; the certainty that you wasted your life.”
― Paulo Coelho, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
(more will be coming...)
These are great quotes, Death. :) :) :)
:)
And star, I don't have a way with music. I just have a logical mind.
“Vital lives are about action. You can't feel warmth unless you create it, can't feel delight until you play, can't know serendipity unless you risk.”
― Joan Erickson
“There is no discovery without risk and what you risk reveals what you value.”
― Jeanette Winterson, Written on the Body
(Okay. I give up now on quotes...
Oh, crap. I'm so tired...)
