I'm not saying that he shouldn't be a sadist, I'm not saying he should change for every minute of everyday. I'm not saying he should wake up and dance in green meadows of flowers. All I'm saying is, if times were desperate and the world really needed him, he wouldn't let an innocent child die. I've seen it happen before, I'll see it again. Yes. I believe that no matter how rotten the core, how dark the soul, how black the heart. At very least a small, sliver of bright light, like a flame and it sits nestled between all the trouble and grief, every minute of every day. All it needs is a little bit of fuel. For Alastair, that fuel is Adra.

I'm sure you all know my opinion of people. Everyone has TRAITS. Like, some people are determined, but that also makes them stubborn. You can't have one without the other. They come in a pack together. And it just depends on how that trait is nutured, and on perspective. Like, some people could admire that person for their determination, and some people could dislike them for their stubbornness.
Like Alastair. Him being a sadist, we all thought he was awful. Now he's in love with Adra, we're seeing how many of the traits he's always had can be used to look after people instead of torture them.
Light isn't a sliver hidden amongst the darkness. The light and the darkness are the same thing.
(I hereby announce that if you read Raven's theory on light and darkness, immediately forget what you have read and look for Star's theory which is only like a gazillion times better. :) )
