I cannot BELIEVE they've let me use that title!
Ladies and gentlemen, the collection I've been promising you, the book that scoops up all those little short stories and provides you with some brand new ones, has been unleashed. There won't be a Spoiler Zone post because it's not one of the "book" books, but even so, try to limit the amount you give away about the endings.
Of the new stories included, I'm finding it hard to pick a favourite. The Horror Writers' Halloween Ball is the most out-and-out comedy of the lot, but Across A Dark Plain is a WESTERN, for god's sake, and it was SO much fun changing my writing style slightly to convey that mood.
But I think Get Thee Behind Me, Bubba Moon is probably my favourite. Much like The End of the World (which is also collected here), it's told from the point of view of an outsider, in this case a middle-aged American man. I didn't mean it to be quite so long, but it grew from a short story to a novella before I knew what was happening. The tone of this one is different, too — until a certain pair of intrepid detectives wander in with their bickering and their jokes...
Anyway, I hope you like it. I hope you ALSO like the sample chapter from The Dying of the Light. It is VERY well written, if I do say so myself.
Oh, and speaking of TDOTL, tomorrow I shall be revealing an awesomely cool limited edition alternative cover.

Over the past month or so I've fallen into a downward spiral. I must have read the whole series through about 20 times in the last few weeks and I simply can't stop. It's not as if I haven't tried new books, I have (many times), it's just that they all seem so slow and dull in comparison to yours. Please Derrek, just release the next book now and ave me from this torture.

This is amazing.
So I went to Six Flags in New Jersey (theme park my friends who dont know) so I qualify for the handicap pass for my lack of vision in one eye, so we get the pass. Basically I go to the ride, get a time and come back when its a time. So all the rides I speak of are roller coasters. So my friend and I go down for two days. First bit is yesterday. So we go get a time for Kingda Ka, well you see its an hour. So we go on Green Lantern and go back to Kingda Ka, its closed now. Okay so we go onto Superman and a few others. While Kingda Ka is STILL down, we go to El Torro. We are let on. We present my pass and they have us wait at the handicap entrance to board the train. Well, we wait and are basically left no instruction, but an attendant watches us. So another handicap group comes, we wait with them. Then a man with a cane comes, presents his pass and is let on the ride. The rest of the handicap groups are sent into the regular line. So we're mad as we waited 20 minutes. Now we go to Kingda Ka, open. We go up and wait on the handicap entrance line, like we were told. They tell us its wheel chair only. Mind you we waited a half hour, before they told us. We go on, annoyed. So now we complete all the roller coasters, go to the hotel, and come back today. Now today; We go right to Kingda Ka, and get on off no problem didn't need my pass. We go back later in the day because we want to go on one last time. I go get my pass signed and we are chatting with the lady, who's a superior. So my friend says how much trouble we had with Kingda Ka closed, and the lady smiles and says today its open, and she explains the pass to us, first perso ever. So we thank her and tell her how much trouble we had with the pass, so she says; I am so sorry, that should not be. How about I tell the team members to look for you two and you will ride Kingda Ka twice. So we both go OKAY! And hence, I rode Kingda Ka, twice in a row. Kingda Ka is:

You go from 0-128mph in 3.5 seconds.
World record breaker.
We were second row, we go on once, then we stay on, and go second time around. That will never EVER happen again.

Some of the characters in The Final Empire decided that there were good men and evil men . . . and I was like :( because I don't believe there are. Everyone is both good and evil. Including Loki.

I have a theory that - you know Derek says he's in the books? Well, I know nothing about the author of the book except the fact that I've read the book, but I have a theory that that character is pretty much the author's representation of himself. You know, in The Psychopath Test, which is another book I keep referencing to, the author interviewed this psychopath/half psychopath, and he loved his dogs. He adored them. And the author was asking someone else, but how can that be? And they replied that it was more of a possessive love, and pointed out that he didn't love his own daughter, did he?
I don't think Loki is a psychopath. But, personally, I don't believe Loki loves Zanida properly.
He doesn't necessarily love her as a possession, but - *helplessly floundering for references* - you know in Twilight when Rosaline(?) Rosalina(?) women with a name beginning with R (:P) said that she was in love with the idea of being in love?
It's not like that either, but it's similar. Sometimes people can love the idea of a sister, but not actually love that sister as a person, or maybe he thinks he does love her as a person, but I'm not sure he really knows her.
Theorizing. He might really love her, and if I have proof of that, I'll admit that I'm wrong. :)

((As of now therr are two people in the entire world Loki has any love for: Frigga, and Zanida. If we asked Aro to tell us what Loki was thinking when Zanida is around, he actually cares. He's scared he'll lose her like he lost Frigga. With Alastair using Zanida as a test, he doesn't trust Alastair, and therefore he worries about his sister. Now, will he ever show it? Unless she died, probably not when you guys were with him, but to her he would show his worry because he trusts Zanida. -Zaf

Can I just say-Fay, that was an amazing dedication. Definitely one of my personal favorites. I just want you to know how much I appreciate you taking the time and effort to write out individual things for quite a few people who barely come here anymore, and for addressing the fact that they don't in a welcoming way. Myself included.
I mean, it's not like I'm never here, but compared to how often I used to be here- which was pretty much all the time (I'd be here till midnight-2AM, my time, and then wake up around 8 and be back the whole day again)- I'm pretty much never here anymore. And for a while it was partly because I was sad that not as many people knew me here anymore. I didn't really have that community I loved for so long. But I've sort of gotten over that, because I realized I can't expect people to know me if I don't take the time to meet and interact with them. But, anyway, that was an awesome ded, and I very much appreciate it.
I can say, just for the record, that no one here is really putting me off- I love new people. And people in general. :) It was more my own fault that I drifted away from this place for a while- busy schedule during school, and all that- and once I realized I didn't have connections with many of the people here, it was easier to continue to be distant.
I'm not sure how to end this rant now. I guess I might just do it by saying that I used to type out long speeches a lot more often. I was sort of known for it, actually. And I haven't in quite some time. Maybe I'll have to get back into it.

They had panda socks with stars, purple, white, grey and pink.
They had boyish socks, red, many blues, they're alright.
Then ankle socks, purple pink and black.
They also had a large array of yucky pink and white ones.
