I cannot BELIEVE they've let me use that title!
Ladies and gentlemen, the collection I've been promising you, the book that scoops up all those little short stories and provides you with some brand new ones, has been unleashed. There won't be a Spoiler Zone post because it's not one of the "book" books, but even so, try to limit the amount you give away about the endings.
Of the new stories included, I'm finding it hard to pick a favourite. The Horror Writers' Halloween Ball is the most out-and-out comedy of the lot, but Across A Dark Plain is a WESTERN, for god's sake, and it was SO much fun changing my writing style slightly to convey that mood.
But I think Get Thee Behind Me, Bubba Moon is probably my favourite. Much like The End of the World (which is also collected here), it's told from the point of view of an outsider, in this case a middle-aged American man. I didn't mean it to be quite so long, but it grew from a short story to a novella before I knew what was happening. The tone of this one is different, too — until a certain pair of intrepid detectives wander in with their bickering and their jokes...
Anyway, I hope you like it. I hope you ALSO like the sample chapter from The Dying of the Light. It is VERY well written, if I do say so myself.
Oh, and speaking of TDOTL, tomorrow I shall be revealing an awesomely cool limited edition alternative cover.

Zanida: *sits by her brother, still in shock* Loki you idiot. *after a few minutes looks out the window* Heimdall, you can't see it, but Loki is alive. Tell Thor he is flooding Midgard.
*a few minutes later the rain stops*

And then for her powers... Essentially, the explosive plasma round would just be a fire cube fired from the holographic computer on her arm. Then the supercooled subatomic particles would be similar but icy rather than fiery. I don't know if you need half of these but yeah. :P Just in case.)
(The dark shadow is... Well, no one knows. It's basically a shadow creature. It feeds from fear and death and other things, but it can feed off other energies too.
It claims to be the embodiment of death, but it is unclear whether it's true or not. In any case, it should be feared.)

Elleni- Loki is my profile picture so look up pictures of whatever you need, and if you're unsure just email me.
Zanida I can explain her appearence but you're best off looking up the clothes Loki has, because Zanida's armor is not typical. Hers would be similar to Loki's battle armor, but her armor is red and orange like a flame until you get to the cape which is black. She very rarely wears a helmet so I won't include that. Her eyes are light blue, and her hair is light brown with natural blonde highlights. Her weapon is a lance and she often sets the pointy part on fire in battle. If she's really annoyed she'll form an ice shard in her left hand and stab people with it.

Zanida: You guys can choose?
Zafira: Yup. I'm a Necromancer, but I know my true name so I can replicate magic I see or experience.
Zanida: Oh. So how could you tell Loki was dead?
Zafira: *shows her the necklace* Necromancers have an object they store their power in, mine is my necklace. When I'm around death it goes extremely cold and my heart races, my necklace is excited.
Zanida: So you knew...
Zafira: Yes. I also will say, Loki did not have a prayer. Alastair will find a way to kill you if you are on that list. I have no doubt he would have stolen Loki's true name if it came down to it.
Zanida: Would Loki be revivable?
Zafira: Aretha was brought back, I mean I guess he would be. God knows what Loki would feel, being some part of him would be with the names.
Zanida: Is that bad?
Zafira: Yeah it is, Alastair took me captive a year ago roughly, and I was trapped with the names, that's my fear. It was terrifying, you're like the eyes the ears, but you can't move. The names scream, I had 40 something I can only imagine what 50 would be like. Its horrid. I'm close to one of the names, John Smith, we went to the Christmas Eve Ball together.
Zanida: I do not believe Loki ever intended to actually die.
Zafira: He didn't have a prayer, Zanida.
Zanida: I know, but I just cannot understand how Loki was killed by a mere Midgardian!
Zafira: Alastair is a sick and cruel person, he killed a god and if he killed one, who is to say he won't kill or torture one of us next?
*wakes up* Zanida?
Zanida: I'm here.

Zanida: Yeah, but I think Thor may be slightly upset. It's been thundering like mad, and I do not doubt Thor is debating on coming down here and killing Alastair himself.

Firstly YES you are under James control still, you didn't have the operation to fix you yet.
James looks to be around 18/19. He has shaggy red hair that sweeps to the left for a fringe. His eyes are a rather dark shade of blue, almost black. He has quite high cheek bones and a face that over time has become harsh. He's skinny and around 6 ft 4. He's slightly muscular but not in the body builder sense. He wears shirts and jeans slung low on his waist. And occasionally a grey hoddie.
Silente is skinny and about 4 ft 9. Maybe 5 ft. She has straight silver hair flowing to her lower back. She wears tight clothes. She has daggers EVERYWHERE. Over her chest, along her waist, down her legs, a few on her upper arm and a small one on each wrist along with two swords on her back and a dagger between her shoulder blades. With her sigils lit up she has high cheek bones and blue eyes with a gold ring around the pupil and flecks of gold in the iris surrounded by a dark blue thin outer circle. Despite her age she IS a tad developed chest wise but not overly so.

I was still crossing my arms shivering in Games today even though it's t-shirt weather and everyone else was fine. -_- I have AWFUL cold tolerance. My heat tolerance is okayish. I just don't particularly enjoy roasting to death.
We're going to Italy this year and I have NO IDEA WHY. It will be TOO hot.

You should never give up on people. It's one of the worst things you can do. How would you like it if someone gave up on you? What's important is the hand who reaches out to you in failure, not the millions of hands who come together for your success. Don't you want to be that hand, the one who's more important and worth more than anyone else? Or do you want to be superficial like them?

Well, Zaf, then you're a coldhearted person. Once someone is dead, they are dead forever. They are never coming back. Ever. All that they are, all that they could have been, all the good they could have done, all the love they could have shared and created, all the lives they could have influenced and the memories they could have made . . . gone. And you will never have another like her ever again.

*sigh* I miss them. We were like 'the gang', remember? I really thought we'd all stay regulars until the end. Remember when we were wondering what would happen to Blogland once it's all over? That time is so near, and I still don't have a clue. Haha.
But I'm so glad to be back. I don't know how long I'll be hanging here, since school is starting up again soon, but I'll try to check in aoap. :)
Also, it's great to have new faces here so I can give a better impression. ;)

(Not surgery. Just inject her with the random vial of white liquid (yes I know that doesn't sound good) and leave it in her vein for a bit. It'll restart her heart and clear James control. It's laying around somewhere)
