I cannot BELIEVE they've let me use that title!
Ladies and gentlemen, the collection I've been promising you, the book that scoops up all those little short stories and provides you with some brand new ones, has been unleashed. There won't be a Spoiler Zone post because it's not one of the "book" books, but even so, try to limit the amount you give away about the endings.
Of the new stories included, I'm finding it hard to pick a favourite. The Horror Writers' Halloween Ball is the most out-and-out comedy of the lot, but Across A Dark Plain is a WESTERN, for god's sake, and it was SO much fun changing my writing style slightly to convey that mood.
But I think Get Thee Behind Me, Bubba Moon is probably my favourite. Much like The End of the World (which is also collected here), it's told from the point of view of an outsider, in this case a middle-aged American man. I didn't mean it to be quite so long, but it grew from a short story to a novella before I knew what was happening. The tone of this one is different, too — until a certain pair of intrepid detectives wander in with their bickering and their jokes...
Anyway, I hope you like it. I hope you ALSO like the sample chapter from The Dying of the Light. It is VERY well written, if I do say so myself.
Oh, and speaking of TDOTL, tomorrow I shall be revealing an awesomely cool limited edition alternative cover.

I had a god play with my mind, I'm not exactly sane, but I know this because Alexis read Loki's mind, she's too scared to tell you.

Regarding Loki... I probably ought to take the tesseract from him, and perhaps his scepter as well... Does he have a more detailed plan than just that?
Zafira: We couldn't tell, and you can't even touch the Tesseract, Zanida mostly has it now. And that sceptre....you just don't touch it.
There are precious few things that I don't do simply because someone tells me not to, or that I can't. Is there any particular reason why you think I could do neither of those things?

Thr roleplay here is really, reay great, and I'm really enjoying reading it. :) However, me nt really being a roleplayer, it does mean I won't comment that much . . . Nt that I was anyway . . .
But yeah. :) It's great.

Zafira: The Tesseract isn't something we ca touch, and the sceptre...Loki's attached to it. You'd have to kill Loki.
I asked you why it's something we apparently cannot touch.
Zafira: It's a Frost Giant relic and only a Frost Giant, or a person like Loki or Zanida, with blood of a Frost Giant in them, can touch it without permanent damage to themslf.
So blood is the only thing that matters?
Zafira: You have to have Frost Giant DNA. If you don't have any type of Frost Giant in you, you're dead.
That shouldn't be overly difficult, then. I've done enough studies of Zanida to be able to shift into one.

*There stands a middle aged woman beside her- well, beside, being that she's floating in mid air. She's an alchemist mother who had chosen to jump from a building and kill herself rather than die in the collapsing building*
*The woman is screaming loudly, floating in one place, then hits the ground with a splatter, only a pile of bones, meat, and scattered blood*
*The body slides off of Adra like a blanket, and she's lying on the floor in a fetal position, her breaths loud and wheezing, crying out* *Her eyes keep rolling back every few seconds as her back arches violently, her fingers frozen in crooked positions* *The convulsing happens about every twenty seconds, and with it, a sound from Adra that is inhuman*
*A spidery-like figure is crawling up to Adra; the next victim in line, the next death for her to experience*
*It dives into her throat, dislodging Adra's jaw as it infiltrates her head with the scene of it's death- the quick snap of it's neck, after hours of agonizing pain and torture* *And Adra can feel that very sensation*
