every week, in form time, we mark down the attendance for the previous week. And, like - we have this chart, and we shade in our attendance percentage. Last year, I would have got 100% but I had a dentist appointment, so I kind of gritted my teeth in anger and resolved to do better this year. Because I really want my attendance sheet to be fully shaded in with no gaps. And every day this year, EVERY DAY, I have come to school. Even when I've felt ill, I was like "Nope. I must go to school. I must get 100% attendance so I can shade the attendance bar in all the way on my sheet." It's been more of an ambition for me than getting to the top of the solitaire leaderboard has. ANYWAY. So this week, something was wrong. My form tutor read out my attendance, and I was ninety-nine percent. And I was just like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT because I hadn't been off and OH MY FUCKING GOSH if COMING TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY THROUGH WIND RAIN SLEET HAIL AND SNOW ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO GET YOU 100% ATTENDANCE, THEN WHAT FUCKING IS?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
So I went into maths, and we had a supply teacher so I could sit next to C (who was back at school today yay she'd been off ill for two days), and I plonked my bags on the table and sat down and glared at her and said "DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENED TODAY?" And she was like " . . . No?" And I started ranting on about my attendance and I spent about five minutes thoroughly exploding and she was laughing her head off at me. :P And then the girl a few seats down told me to shut up and stop shouting. (C told her that I was being quiet and that this, for me, was quiet.)
But ANYWAY. You know that thing recently where my vocal chords have just kind of stopped working when I've got angry or tried to shout, and I've put it down to people telling me to shut up whenever I get annoyed?
Well, I had been exploding happily without blanking out. But after she said that it started happening, and then I stopped exploding, and I was just trying to talk but my voice wouldn't work. Like . . . like I'd lost my voice. And I was sat there, quite worried by this point, just trying to speak, trying to speak in a normal voice, and it wasn't working. And I knew it was a mental thing and there was nothing physically wrong with my voice, but it wouldn't work. And then later at break it kept blanking out. :/ Yeah . . . Weird. :P My voice also felt a bit weird when I DID use it, at break, which is possibly just because I'd been shouting but maybe I'm supressing my voice in some way and maybe I'm damaging it or something . . . :/ Anyway. That's Example Number Two of how the people around you can change you by what they say to you. :) (The first one being Hunter telling me I'm pathetic.)
And ANYWAY. At lunch, me and my friends went to my head of house (don't heave heads of year anymore, we have heads of house. Whooo.) And I told her my predicament - oh, btw, I was pretty sure that my attendance had gone down because of when I did PE with those year two kids . . . and I went out of lessons for the afternoon to do sports leadership because the PE teachers told me I had to or else I wouldn't get my qualification, and - yeah, that did turn out to be the case . . . my head of house, who phoned this person to tell him to change my attendance, also told him to chase that up because she thought possibly all of us doing the PE thing had been marked as absent . . .
So my attendance is back to 100% now. :) :) :)
But anyway. I was very explosive and angry about it. It was quite impressive. :P
I felt a bit like this girl at my school in my science class - you know those people in lessons who just put their hand up for everything, so the lesson becomes kind of a conversation between the teacher and that person? And every little question, they have to put their hand up for it, and if they don't understand something, they put their hand up, and if they want to just clarify, they put their hand up, and if they want to criticise the teacher, they put their hand up, and they just seem to find a billion things to say, and so they just kind of force their way through the lesson, in a way? Yeah. We have a girl like that in science and I felt like her, in that I was going up to the teacher to complain in a rather annoying manner when it didn't really matter and most other people would just deal with it. :P (That's also the same girl that I called A about a year and a half ago, in case anyone reminds that far back, the one who - we were playing benchball in PE, and there were three of us left on our team, and I kept running forward to (attempt to) catch the ball. And she told me to just STAY THERE, HOLLY because she was trying to get our team to pass in a line. So I stayed in the back left corner so they could through the ball at me, because I do what I'm told like that. And then the ball went to the back right corner, and I didn't run for it because I was STAYing THERE, HOLLY and I didn't want her annoyed at me, and then she had a massive go at me for not running to go and catch it. And then a bit later, she threw the ball at me, and I didn't catch it because I'm shit at catching. And she was so annoyed at me. She was swearing at me and everything. :P At was the end of the game, our team had WON, but she was crying - she was CRYING - because she hadn't got me onto the bench and I hadn't fulfilled her plan exactly to how she wanted it so - yeah. O_O And people were asking me if I was okay, because she'd been swearing at me, and I was just like - *looks at them oddly* Yeah. I'm fine. It was one of the first times that I formed the idea in my head that it didn't matter how people insulted you, it was the intent behind it. It made very little difference to me which words she used to insult me and whetehr she was swearing or not, but everyone seemed to think it did . . . And of course, I remember that instance in PE perfectly because I came home and wrote it up in a rant. If I hadn't, I would have forgotten by now. Huh.)

I felt a bit like this girl at my school in my science class -
you know those people in lessons who just put their hand up for everything, so the lesson becomes kind of a conversation between the teacher and that person? And every little question, they have to put their hand up for it, and if they don't understand something, they put their hand up, and if they want to just clarify, they put their hand up, and if they want to criticise the teacher, they put their hand up, and they just seem to find a billion things to say, and so they just kind of force their way through the lesson, in a way?
Yeah.
We have a girl like that in science and I felt like her, in that I was going up to the teacher to complain in a rather annoying manner when it didn't really matter and most other people would just deal with it. :P
(That's also the same girl that I called A about a year and a half ago, in case anyone reminds that far back, the one who - we were playing benchball in PE, and there were three of us left on our team, and I kept running forward to (attempt to) catch the ball. And she told me to just STAY THERE, HOLLY because she was trying to get our team to pass in a line. So I stayed in the back left corner so they could through the ball at me, because I do what I'm told like that. And then the ball went to the back right corner, and I didn't run for it because I was STAYing THERE, HOLLY and I didn't want her annoyed at me, and then she had a massive go at me for not running to go and catch it. And then a bit later, she threw the ball at me, and I didn't catch it because I'm shit at catching. And she was so annoyed at me. She was swearing at me and everything. :P
At was the end of the game, our team had WON, but she was crying - she was CRYING - because she hadn't got me onto the bench and I hadn't fulfilled her plan exactly to how she wanted it so -
yeah. O_O
And people were asking me if I was okay, because she'd been swearing at me, and I was just like - *looks at them oddly* Yeah. I'm fine.
It was one of the first times that I formed the idea in my head that it didn't matter how people insulted you, it was the intent behind it.
It made very little difference to me which words she used to insult me and whetehr she was swearing or not, but everyone seemed to think it did . . .
And of course, I remember that instance in PE perfectly because I came home and wrote it up in a rant. If I hadn't, I would have forgotten by now.
