Ladies and gentlemen...
When I start writing Book 9, I had a title in mind. And it was a good title. It was a glorious title. It echoed a phrase we'd already seen in the books themselves, and it was cool, and haunting, and awesome...
But for some reason, it wasn't a "Final Book" title.
I don't know why. Some titles suit the last book of a series. Some suit the first. This title — my lovely, glorious title — suited the first.
I'm not going to tell you what it was, because I do plan to use it at some stage — and I never let a good idea go to waste.
But suddenly I had a problem. I needed a new title.
I needed a new title that sounded like a final book. I needed a new title that fit alongside Kingdom of the Wicked and Last Stand of Dead Men. I needed something almost... poetic.
And so I came up with this.

Yeah Star, get what you mean. Sounds like pretty lazy writing. Have you read Mockingjay from the hunger games series? It picks one guy over the other, but I don't know if you'll like it any better. Doesn't handle it very well.

Dexter Vex, Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain. They are the only characters left I love. I loved Ghastly and Spring-healed Jack too but oh look, they're dead.
Hmm..I'd say Alice. Even though she's not been in it long. Either Alice or Darquess.

@Zaf- Ok now I'm onto Ravel. Brilliant character, the reveal that he was the golden eyes is my favourite chapter of the series.
Don't think I can forgive him though, I know he was dealing with two of the most physically powerful dead men, but the way he dealt with them was so brutal. Seriously go read it, awful stuff.
Well the title is awesome but... It reminds a little too much of dying light.
I don't mind China, she's really sassy and of course Becky on twitter wants to fuck her but yeah... I don't like her for giving Skul's family to Serpine but Skul seems to be over it so I guess I am too, I don't really mind if China dies because she's not one of my favourite's but yeah.
Zaf what ravel did was dispicable...did he deserve all that pain? Well no not really. Did he deserve some form of punishment. Absolutely.
I'm hanging onto the hope that this "eternal torture" deal with Ravel is a way to keep him alive into the final book. I'm craving more of his character.

Personally, I didn't like kingdom of the wicked as much as the other books and I think the faceless ones wasn't as good either but I suppose it's just a matter of perspective (*sighs* just like everything else in this world). I did of course like all of the books but to me each one had its own kind of specific feel to it if you know what I mean.

Death Bringer... dunno, I just didn't like. Whereas I think Last Stand of Dead Men didn't really fit in with the story much. It just seemed to go off on its own tangent about something completely unrelated to the rest of the books. It just seemed a bit... dunno... weird?
Future can be predicted by knowing the actions people will take throughout their lives.
I suppose one thing to not is how each book was more gruesome than the last.

Star, that's the thing - I didn't really ever get into Last Stand of Dead Men. I didn't think it REALLLYYYY had a plot, so to speak, in comparison to the others. Same with Death Bringer - but it took me until the end to the book to realise, "Oh... there IS a plot" ^^

Like brain origami, folding in two different ways to reach the same outcome, and even though it's the same result point, you have all of these new folds that explore it. :)

Star, LSODM felt a little bit like it was trying to cram too much before the last book into a single novel. It was like, "OK WE HAVE TO STICK TO NINE BOOKS", and filled everything that needed to be done before the last one into a single book, giving a rushed feel to it and doing none of what it was trying to do that well.

I think of LSODM as a roller coaster. It builds up, 51 is a big climax and the drama of war, and Ravel and all the good stuff is the loops and twists.

@Luce: It's amazing how songs can relate to things like that. Like, maybe it's not what it was written about originally but it's how it makes you feel, and it feels like how another things makes you feel. And it makes the song kind of seem even better because you have this link to something that means a lot to you.
Like Quality Street makes me think of Star because of her kickass analogies, and it's like, maybe Quality Street are good anyway but I have a whole level of additional enjoyment. And if I ever see somebody putting a yellow Quality Street Wrapper over their eye and saying how sunny and cheerful it looks I will probably cry. :P
But, yeah. It's amazing. :)

I'll take a picture when I'm done. It's quite funny. For ages, the heights of my pencils have waved up and down, then suddenly shrank at the end with the black and the grey. Now, there's a massive GAP in the middle where the red it. XD
