Ladies and gentlemen...
When I start writing Book 9, I had a title in mind. And it was a good title. It was a glorious title. It echoed a phrase we'd already seen in the books themselves, and it was cool, and haunting, and awesome...
But for some reason, it wasn't a "Final Book" title.
I don't know why. Some titles suit the last book of a series. Some suit the first. This title — my lovely, glorious title — suited the first.
I'm not going to tell you what it was, because I do plan to use it at some stage — and I never let a good idea go to waste.
But suddenly I had a problem. I needed a new title.
I needed a new title that sounded like a final book. I needed a new title that fit alongside Kingdom of the Wicked and Last Stand of Dead Men. I needed something almost... poetic.
And so I came up with this.

«Oldest ‹Older 3601 – 3800 of 4968 Newer› Newest»Hello. Here for a bit...
Tuxedo so so hat? Right. XD
Night, Star!
Oh crap its not fixed wtf I force stopped my keyboard.
:D Autocorrect issues again?
The wreckage was fun. I annoyed some Supermancowfragileexpelledducks.
*wedding and *SUPERVILLAINS
But first! I dedicate this page to Easter and may you all have a happy holiday and to OSMOSIS
...
Alrighty then.
Wbd.
When I first came on I didn't know what time the osteoporosis wedding was but then I was told 3:00 eastern standalone time, which didn't helpline because I'm in the UK so I had to googly it to realigned she meant 8.
I guarantee that if I was at the wedding, I would have not left Gary's side until absolutely necessary. Because I just love creepying him out. Now excuse me. I have to finish reading what happened.
...
I have no icing who GaryGary is.
oh god...
Alexis: *screams in pain trying to block out the pain*
Aro: You ought to have learned to not fight back.
Alexis: Make...it...stop!!!
Aro: No, the pain I made you feel is only the beginning, I would pray it does not worsen. Though I think that pretty symbol will do nicely. *the symbol stops glowing, Alexis goes still as the pain suddenly stops, then Alexis' screams fill the air as she begins to writh* I do hope you like it, I specialize in pain, Alexis.
Oh god I'm not even frigging... Disheartening Shaklee workshop display Handheld disorganized ridiculous dismal Dickson Duckworth Dudley. Spasm.
... Smashing the keyboard on a phone doesn't work.
*Trip's fist slams into Aro's face*
And I specialise in drink, but guess who's had more?
Oh.
Goodness.
Trip: thanks forcefeed reading my order ofof the baskets story. If you want your characterises in it then you fan just commended because yeah it'll fit in with where I'm gliding with the story with you being a sloth.
Aro: *watches for a while, then walks away from the scene dipping the knife in the lake to wash her blood away and goes back to the treehouse*
Where's Lexi?
Aro: No idea.
Would you go find her please? Dinner is almost ready.
Javier: I'll go let Aro rest.
Aro: Thank you, Dad. *washes hands and takes place at the table*
Olivia: *sits beside Aro, giggling*
Aro: *smiles* Hello, Olivia.
Javier: *goes towards the lake, and suddenly hears Alexis screaming* Alexis?! *goes towards the scene and sees her on the ground* Alexis oh god...*scoops her up, and runs to the house* Zafira help!!
*shadow-walks down, looking at the scene* Good lord who did this?
The what ad the what now Dragona?
NO.
*for *basilisk *character *can *comment *going *spotter
...you should really do something about that autocorrect...didn't you already fix it?
(Trip where I thank you for coming in, I would like to say that Aro took them far away from anywhere where anyon would hear the conversation.)
Ame th y I tried! I force stopped my keyboard and that fixed it but nowadays it's backyard.
(I see)
...*facepalm*
I think its slightly worrying that I'm laughing
It's okay Snow...I am too.
I yard my ponies so much the autocorrect on it is horrid.
No. I'm laughing about the wedding.
Oh...well...that's different then.
ponies...I love your autocorrect.
Right. I think that is meant to sy
I hate my phone so much the auto correct on it is horrid
*epidemic facephone* I hate my autocracy
The phone hates you too...
Well Dragona, I would like to check anything you wrote for them, but that wouldn't be too bad.
Ooh, I could cook up a whole new spotter, or use a minor one, then introduce Trip.
I've things to think about with this.
I TOLD YOU PHOTO WOULD EITHER DIE OR BE EVIL
HES EVIL DA, N IT. AND I KNEW HE WOULD BE BECAUSE ANNI WOULDNT KILL HIM OFF. MAYBE
[Evil laughter]
I have plot twists.
I don't think anyone will ever get to read them, but oh well
I HAVE PLOT TWISTS
Trip: I was justice thinking because I want a storyline about the spotted-dick and I thought "sure that'd be pool" since yeah your character is analogue. If you leave a comment snout whatever you decide giving details on themselves characters I can write them in.
... Hell no.
that autocorrect... so funny.
Yes, I think I'll make you a new character who you can play around with, I'll get to work.
Ok, Triplets. :)
I'm going to go now. Bye!
... This is getting stuoid.
Damn it anni.
HES DEAD AND EVIL
MY PREDICTION WAS CORRECT
Bye an methane!
And it didn't even correct tht.
Javier: I don't know!
Take her to her room.
Javier: *does so*
*follows upstairs* Aro come here.
Aro: *follows Mom*
Javier: *lays her down*
Alexis: Make it stop!!!!
Whats on her arm?
Aro: It seems to be a symbol.
Javier: I've seen it before...
Do something!
Aro: I have as well. *takes her arm and makes a few cuts over the symbol* It's something from my world, I've seen Vidia use it before.
Who?
Aro: She used to work along with me, I never used it in my lifetime.
Alexis: *stops writhing, panting*
Who did this to you?
Alexis: A woman...she wore pitch black robes...her hair was blonde with black highlights and her eyes were hazel. She had an accent like Aro.
Aro: Alexis, show me.
Alexis: *focuses on Aro showing him the image*
Aro: Ah. That would be Vidia Gaunt.
So they've shunted over?
Aro: Her twin is a Shunter. No doubt Mevolent sent the twins over.
*Trip's laugh can be heard from the window, and his fingers seen on the windowsill*
*is wondering if Precocious was pregnant and the curse is ment to male the baby similar to Ghastly*
*:O*
How do you feel Alexis?
Alexis: Shaken.
Javier: I'll get you something to eat. *goes*
I have to go into work, if they've shunted over I need to deal with it.
Aro: I can watch her, go to work.
*hugs Aro* Thanks, but I need you.
Aro: Certainly.
*takes arm and goes to the Sanctuary*
Aro: I do fear here.
You're with me, come. *takes to office*
Alexis: *sits in bed reading* I feel funny.
Javier: You were tortured. I would feel off too.
Alexis: Are you staying with Mom?
Javier: No. She's not legally married to me. I'm visiting but Ravel is married to her.
Alexis: I thought-
Javier: I did too. I'm sorry baby. I will live in Blogland and you can visit me, your mother does not hate me, she just isn't trusting me in a love situation
I'm going to go now because my god has stopped garlic and I'm tired and autocorrect is annoying me.
ByeBye guys!
*comes back at midnight with Aro* Thanks.
Aro: Of course. Good night, Mom.
Good night Aro. *goes to bed*
Aro: *smiles and goes into own room, and sleeping*
Ravel: *is awake reading reports from America, coming across Zafira's latest* My god. She's joking...*glances at calander* That's not even funny, it's April 19th! *continues reading* *looks at clock of timezones* Too late she'll never be awake.
(("My god has stopped magic" that is the best so far
*nods* theory correct. Though she wasn't pregnant yet. Huh.
Good to see all my guesses, theories and ponderings turned out true.
A marvelous wedding, Annika
I'll continue later
hi peoples.
Hey guys! Not here for very long, but:
I am so irritated right now that I missed the ending of the wedding- that was really great, Clara, if you read comments :)
Star, I KNOW you read comments, so EZTER SHOULD HAVE A WEDDING. Even if it's not a real one.
Zaf, O.O
Dragona, your autocorrect is quite possibly the funniest thing I've seen in, like, over a year.
*vanishes again*
Hmm. Just finished book 4 and it's been fun re-reading it.
And Darquesse should be angry at Ravel in book 8 - he killed Anton and Ghastly and tried to kill Valkyrie and Skulduggery in book 4 by blowing up the Sanctuary.
Woah, Zaf! O_O
Aro is . . . woah.
@Kes: NO, THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE A WEDDING. :P
Thanks, though! :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Hello!
Annika/Clara: The wedding was amazing. I wish I could have been there in person...
Star: If they /do/ have a wedding, please, no more emotional trauma...
Dragona: Your autocorrect is hilarious. XD XD XD
*vanishes Cheshire-cat style*
"How does one grammar?"
One grammars by first gutting the pig-- oh, wait, zat is how one bacons
@Emerald: *facepalm*
Ez is currently wanting to murder Hunter.
They're NOT GETTING MARRIED.
Hunter says he can't promise on emotional trauma, though.
And - YEAH, HIS AUTOCORRECT IS THE BEST. XD
#ChaseForBookNine
@Snow: *laughs*

*cackles*
...
I think I have lost the plot. Have you seen it?
Also, I am getting very good at translating the language of auto correct.
And I have dragona to thank. :)
@Snow: *laughs*
You never had the plot, Snow. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Snow: *laughs*
Yeah.
Dragona's autocorrect is . . . woah. O_O
#ChaseForBookNine
Oh.......
I MUST GO EAT
I SHALL BE BACK ASAP.
TOODLES
OKAY, SNOW. :)
Msd. Going in under an hour.
#ChaseForBookNine
AND IM BACK
Hey Snow! :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Happy Easter!
I finally had a lie in today. Sort of. I went to bed at about one and fINALLY FELL ASLEEP UNTIL NINE. I woke up a few times in the night but I did get some sleep. Today will be a good day. ^_^
*flighingninjatacklehugofdoom*
@Mushroom: YAAAAAAAAY! :)
Not really here. D:
#ChaseForBookNine
Hunter and Ez are so fucking bored. *laughs*
#ChaseForBookNine
Well my dad managed to screw up Easter too. Didn't buy half the candy and fucked up one of the two things they bothered to get me. He couldn't even figure out what Nascar drived i like even when my mother gave him the number they drive. He actually paid more attention to my gerbils
@Zaf: -_-
I'm sorry . . . *hugs*
(Not really here - we have people over.)
#ChaseForBookNine
Not really here - just wanted to say Happy Easter everyone! :)
And also, great wedding yesterday! Gutted I wasn't there when it was going on :(
@Flora: Hey! :)
At least you can read it. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
I may continue writing my plot later
Hiya all! I haven't been on for like ages because yeah faded away from sp and all got bored with it, read it again fell in love and again etc.
Anyway new intro time!
I am Lunaria Mist Shadows but everyone just calls me Luna, Luey, Lu-Lu, Luny, and the most popular Lunatic. My conscious is named Peach Pastel and can actually take over if i get to crazy and start killing to many people... And such.....
Death Rose is my Bff not only online but in real life and i stand up for my bbys.
Anyway now for the shitty stuff i hate saying but i have to so yep.
Deathiles has been really sad lately, she has no idea what is happening and is getting confused and angry over many things; which isn't very fun when its her first trip overseas, and to Europe at that.
She has no idea why people are telling her to fuck off and getting angry at her when she only really wants to help you guys.
A certain person is hurting her the most, all DD wants to do is try to stay friends with everyone and not loose a single person, but she doesn't know what is wrong with what shes saying. She didn't read any pages back when she said some things only what was on that one so yeah the context never came through to her until later.
Also Death didn't ask me to do this, she was just so confused and angry i had to say something.
Xx Peachy.
Thanks, Lunaria . . . :)
#ChaseForBookNine
I keep writing 'silente' rather than 'silent' and 'silence'. *laughs*
#ChaseForBookNine
Hello.
Hi Dragona! :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Hey Star! How are you?
@Dragona: Good, thanks. :)
You?
#ChaseForBookNine
I'm fine, thank you.
I've been playing Mass Effect and Battlefield 4, today. I got BF4 for Christmas and haven't played it yet so yeah.
That is good. :)
Hunter's in a good mood today.
#ChaseForBookNine
@Dragona: Ace. :)
I have a book for Christmas I haven't read yet . . . O_O
#ChaseForBookNine
HEY
HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
WHO WANTS MY EASTER SHORT STORY IN INSTALMENTS AND WHO DOESN'T AND WHO DOESN'T MINDDDDDDDDDDD???
#ChaseForBookNine
I've realised I can only play as Engineer or as a sniper, though.
0o
Both are completely different. Engineers have sub-machine guns and rocket launchers to destroy vehicles and Recon (as the class is called) are just snipers. 0o
@Dragona: Okay. O_O
#ChaseForBookNine
I, at the very least, shot a guy in a helicopter in the face as he was flying overhead, which was pretty funny.
@Dragona: How did you manage that? :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Well, he was flying, and I had a sniper and I was shooting at him because I was running away from a tank and I had nothing better to do. Then he flew overhead and luckily a bullet shot him in the face and then the helicopter went and crushed me.
@Dragona: Well.
That wasn't so smart, then. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
I don't know, it was pretty fun.
@Dragona: FAIRY NUFF.
#ChaseForBookNine
*surprise hugs*
It's nearly time for Dying of the Light!
@Tia: D:
#ChaseForBookNine
Guuuys, when was the blurb for book 9 published??
@Flora: *looks blank*
#ChaseForBookNine
I really thought that it was going to be called 'And the Darkness Rained upon them.'
I just found it on Goodreads and Amazon... O.O
WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??
WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED??
IS IT THE REAL ONE?!
@Flora: *shrugs helplessly?*
#ChaseForBookNine
I am so confused :P
*steps through the portal into her vault*
*covered head to toe in grime and factory dust*
*sighs at her crinkled clothes*
*presser the sigil on her arm to release the key*
*walks ahead and opens the door on the other side of this portal*
*unlocks the door and gives it an almighty push*
*Steps through emerging in the oaks roots*
*tries to dust of a bit and hides the key in her arm again*
*walks from the oaks roots into the clearing*
*muttering under her breath* stupid trip damaging the factory making me have to stay there in the dirty place setting my plans back....
Hey Silente! :)
@Flora: *doesn't even attempt to think about it :P*
#ChaseForBookNine
Hey star! How did the doctors wedding go? I missed it! D:
@Silente: Read it! :P *points to a few pages ago*
It went . . . well, terribly, really, but that's cool. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Sorry I poofed.
@Dragona: That's kay. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Thanks for the comment on my story, Star. :)
It's cool, Dragona. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Ah. So that happened. Poor Doctor. Poor Photo. Poor Gary. Poor Oz. Poor EVERYONE.
*tries to remove more of the factory dust from her clothes discretely*
*smiles at Dragona*
Hey.
@Silente: YES, POOR PHOTO. D:
#ChaseForBookNine
May he rest in peace.
*gets up and slowly works on getting dressed for work*
Javier: *comes over to* Zafira. Don't go in today please...
I have to. I'm sorry. *puts on Elder robe*
Javier: Please?
No. *shadow-walks*
Aro: *gets up, and comes out* How is Lexi?
Javier: I don't know. She's still asleep.
Aro: Mother left?
Javier: Yes, she's at the Sanctuary.
Aro: *nods and goes out*
@Silente: Yeah. :/
#ChaseForBookNine
Hey Zaf
*watching, Zaf! O_O*
#ChaseForBookNine
Aro: *walks around the lake, slowly thinking of what to do, how to carry out plans*
Olivia: *chases after Aro* Aro!!! Hey Aro!
Aro: *turns* Yes, Olivia?
Olivia: I want to walk with you.
Aro: *smiles* Sure. *walks with her around the lake*
Olivia: Aro, what can you do? Magic wise?
Aro: I'm a Sense-Warden, I am what Alexis can do.
Olivia: Show me!
Aro: Alright. *makes Olivia see a memory of his, of the Palace throne room*
Olivia: That's Mevolent! And...the god-killer sword...
Aro: *smiles* You'll have that memory now, I've shared it with you.
(Hello)
Olivia: What else can you do?
Aro: A lot, I'm skilled in things that yo shouldn't bw doing.
Olivia: I want to see more of the other dimension!
Aro: *shakes head* I don't...I can't show you...you wouldn't want to.
Olivia: Yes. I. Do.
Aro: Fine! You better not have nightmares, Olivia.
Olivia: I won't. I may not have faced Mevolent or Alastair but I've grown up in war, I'm 9, I think I can handle a little graphic violence.
Aro: *laughs* A little? Oh dear, I did much more then a 'little'.
Olivia: Show me.
Aro: *pauses, then decides to not* I'll show you some other time.
O_O
#ChaseForBookNine
ANY TIME YOU WANT MY FIRST INSTALMENT, JUST SAY. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Olivia: Show me!!!!
Alexis: *comes down* Liv, Christopher wants to go play on the swings.
Olivia: No!
Alexis: He also is trying to get your gerbil army.
Olivia: MY GERBILS!!!! *runs off to save her gerbil army from the evil Christopher*
Alexis: You're welcome.
Aro: She's good at pestering, I'll admit.
Alexis: Indeed.
Aro: How do you feel?
Alexis: Better, my arm is sore but it's healing at least.
Aro: Thank god, I'd hate to see you hurt.
Alexis: I don't even know why she attacked me!
Aro: Mevolent hates Mom, she's Grand Mage and she did manage to escape him.
Alexis: I thought he'd hate Ravel, he's a Grand Mage of a Cradle!
Aro: I know, I can only think of a theory.
Alexis: How do you like it here?
Aro: I am adjusting well. I find it to be much more civil.
Alexis: Can you even shunt over?
Aro: Well....I could...
Alexis: Do you want to go on an adventure?
Aro: My pleasure, sister. I need my robes first, with them we can get into the City.
Alexis; What about me?
Aro: They will fit you, we are about the same height. Meet me in the dynamite forest, ok?
Alexis: Sure. *heads off*
Aro: *goes to own room in the treehouse and gets the two sets of robes, the robes a Sense-Warden would wear in the other dimension*
Woah. O_O
Okay.
I officially do not trust Aro. O_O
#ChaseForBookNine
*randomly wanders around the forest*
*not making a noise*
*smiled at the sunlight being filtered through*
*runs her fingers through her hair*
Aro: *sneaks out and takes robes into the dynamite forest* Alexis.
Alexis: Yes?
Aro: I am going to link us mentally, a link I promise I can break as soon as we return. *creates the link and passes her a set of robes*
Alexis: *puts them on*
Aro: *does same and fixes her hood* Remember, we're to remain quiet, people fear us, follow my lead. We are working under Mevolent and mortals are nothing.
Alexis: I don't-
Aro: Act. Believe me, if they think you a Resistance member, I cannot help you.
Alexis: I understand.
Aro: *takes her hand and uses the anchor he was given to report long ago*
Alexis: *eyes widen* woah!!!
(With that said I shall poof to get into car ect, I will continue when I'm on Route 80, the highway
(I woukd trust Aro in this mindset, Star.
((Okay. :) Cool, Zaf! :)
And - I still don't trust him. :P He hasn't proven himself very trustworthy.
Thanks, though. :)))
#ChaseForBookNine
OKAY, INSTALMENT NUMBER ONE OF MY EASTER STORY.
A note on when it's set - okay, so Hunter and Ez went back in time to our time, because they have to do that occasionally. The robots can time travel too, so when they go into the past, Hunter and Ez have to ferret them out before they stuff things up too much.
Currently, they're in England, and also, they're pretending to be married, which is . . . yeah. They often do that when they're trying not to be noticed. If you're a married couple, people tend to leave you alone a bit more, or at least, that's the theory behind it. They're trying not to be noticed by the robots, because if they know they're there, a lot of shit'll go down and it won't be fun.
So yeah.
ALSO, it's a bit crap. :) I think my second instalment's better, but that's also crap, so meh. *laughs*
-
Her first thought was that it must be a dream. If she went to sleep in the dream, would she wake up in reality?
She closed her eyes, but when she opened them, her sister was still crumpled on the floor like a discarded toy, lifeless.
She stared at the gash across her throat. Sickened. Horrified. But she couldn't stop looking.
"Are you okay?" asked a man. Her eyes looked at him, but didn't see him.
My sister is gone.
My sister is dead.
She is . . . gone.
Suddenly the emotion welled up in her and she burst into tears.
"It's okay," Hunter told the stranger, then on an impulse, reached forward and hugged her. "It's okay."
But Leanne still cried, because it so wasn't. It couldn't be.
My sister is dead.
Ez was going to faint. The thought kept repeating itself in her head, circling endlessly. She wished it would shut up. She needed to concentrate on tracking the robots.
They were ahead of her, moving through town. Not too fast, but too fast for Ez. She couldn't move any faster. She couldn't. Her legs were like lead.
Ez put a hand on her energystick and absorbed some of the energy, then sped up for a while before slowing to a steady plod.
Horrible as this drained feeling was, she had to keep herself this way. When she was lacking this much energy, her energy signal was diminished, and the robots couldn't know she was here.
A tracker. She needed to give them a tracker.
She presented this thought to her brain and told it to think, but her brain just stared back at her uncomprehendingly, not working.
Ez gave up and closed her eyes. Tired . . .
"Watch where you're going!" snapped a man sharply as Ez walked into him.
"Sorry," she whispered.
Fuck. She'd lost the signal . . .
Ez reached out her senses. Robots . . .
Her energy drained and her head floated higher. Her feet had stopped moving again.
Fuck.
Ez gave herself more energy and her vision cleared. She hurried after the robots, topping herself up when the black spots threatened to overwhelm.
It stopped, and she paused, swaying.
Don't fall over.
Then the signal whizzed off. Too fast. Ez ran, but it draw ahead . . .
Vehicle.
Dammit.
She restored her energy levels and ran back towards Hunter.
TBC
There was a crowd gathering around the dead body.
"There's no point calling an ambulance, she's dead," repeated Hunter for the fourth time. Impatient, but his tone was softer than it would have been. The girl was still holding onto him, unwilling to let go, stand on her own.
"How do you know that?" asked the old woman.
"No pulse," explained Hunter, and the woman frowned.
"Does anyone know who she is?" a man was asking.
"This girl's sister," said Hunter, and eyes turned to him and her.
"You her boyfriend?" asked the man.
"No," said Hunter, looking annoyed, because his character would. "I don't know her. She needed a hug, though."
A voice called through the knot of people. "Ask her who she is!"
"She's distraught," pointed out Hunter.
The man leaned down - he was tall, like Hunter - and spoke to the girl. "Are you okay?"
She looked at him blankly.
"We need to know who you are," he said slowly, as if speaking to a small child.
She stared at him.
And stared some more.
"I don't think she's hearing you," said Hunter.
The man tried speaking to her again, and Hunter turned to the right, feeling a familiar energy signature approach.
Ez.
She stepped to the side, out from behind some people so she could see him, and pulled a face at him as she approached. She'd lost the robots.
"Okay," said Hunter, turning back to the situation. "This'll sound really shady, but maybe we should check her bag.
The man was in favour, and, ignoring the others, they checked her handbag; once on her shoulder, now on the floor.
"Hey," said Ez, reaching him, and Hunter visibly relaxed.
"Ella."
Ez/Ella squeezed his shoulder with her hand.
The man had found an address book. "Let's phone her mum."
"I'll phone her," said Ez to the man, getting her phone out.
"She's good in these situations," Hunter encouraged, when the man looked doubtful.
The man shrugged and passed it to Ez. Why would he want the horror of that conversation?
Ez took the phone and dialled, sweeping her hair behind one ear. Hunter remembered to watch her movements, as if his eyes were drawn to them, magnetic attraction.
Ez smiled at him.
"Hello?" asked a woman's voice on the other side.
"I'm terribly sorry," said Ez, her voice smooth, "but I'm afraid your daughter has just been killed.
Silence.
Then, angry like rusty metal curling in on itself - "What kind of sick joke is this?"
"It's not a joke," said Ez gently. "Your daughter. Late teens, dark brown hair. Your other daughter, slightly older, blonde hair, is currently in shock. We're in town, opposite Waterstones and NatWest."
The phone slammed down. But she'd come. She had to. The seeds of doubt, in her mind . . .
A ringtone. The corpse's phone ringing. People looked at it.
Nobody dared to try and answer it, though.
The phone would be locked, anyway.
Then it stopped ringing, and the blonde girl's phone rang.
Like a sleepwalker, Leanne bend down, picked it up, unlocked it and answered, holding it to her ear.
"Hello?" her mum asked.
At her voice, the tears ignited again.
"Leanne?"
Ez gently took the phone off Leanne and she leaned back into Hunter, who was now considerably damper with her crying.
"Leanne's okay," Ez said down the phone. "Just upset."
The woman hung up again.
But she'd definitely be coming now.
Hunter stood there and hugged Leanne, making the occasional softened comment, whilst Ez fended off the masses of people. Once, she looked back at Hunter. 'Good job getting in there fast,' her expression said.
The police arrived about the same time that the mother did. The mother was, unsurprisingly, inconsolable.
Hunter just carried on hugging Leanne. She seemed to be getting calmer now.
The police looked a bit freaked out, but they did their stuff, asking people what had happened.
Hunter answered truthfully.
"Me and my wife were just coming out of Waterstones when we saw this man slash at the girl's throat."
"We have no clue why."
"She's her sister."
"No, I don't know her."
"Hugging can be comforting."
"I don't think that would be a good idea, officer; she's a bit shocked . . ."
Hunter stepped back, but Leanne reached out for him, missing her lifeline. The police drew her away to talk to her. Not that she'd say much.
She didn't.
"I don't know."
"I don't know."
"I don't know."
"She was in his way."
"I don't know, she was standing in front of him."
She remembered it. Tally, standing there.
Tally.
"Don't cry, Leanne."
"Where's that man?"
"Which man?"
"The man who was holding me."
She felt lonely, on her own. Cold. A child without a teddy bear.
Her sister was dead.
Tally.
The stranger had his arm around her again, and Leanne grabbed the edge of his jacket, needing something to hang onto.
Ez, or her character, was looking rather jealous. Hunter gave her a helpless look.
The police carried on questioning Leanne.
The police were slow. They would be. So many legal channels. Hunter occupied himself imagining how he would handle it better. Or merely jump up and take over. He could do it, now. Fire a few lasers out of his hands, show people what he could do. See the fear dawn in their eyes, their obedience a by-product rolling off it.
But no. Not here. Not now.
"We're driving them home," Ez told him, appearing behind him.
He wanted to talk to her about the whole thing, then. All of it. The facts, the feelings, the mysteries. He would talk, and she would listen, because she was Ez, and she put up with far more than she ever should and maybe he felt guilty about that but he still used her anyway.
Ez wasn't really here, though. Ez was hidden under a facade, smothered like Hunter.
"Good," said Hunter.
Ez had already manoeuvred the police, so all she and Hunter had to do was grab Leanne's mother and dash off.
They moved slowly. Leanne was still silent, but she had let go of Hunter now, walking on her own. Her mother spoke enough for herself and both her silenced daughters, all of it pouring out of her in a neverending un-lidded torrent. Ez walked politely beside her, saying "Yeah" and "Uh-huh" and "I'm sorry" and "It's not fair" and "I know" and "Mmh." The woman didn't really acknowledge her.
Hunter walked next to Ez. They occasionally exchanged expressions.
Hunter's car was parked in the nearest car park. It was quite a good car park, because it was halfway between the two shopping centres. It was quite a good car, as well. When you had the money to buy a good car, it was rather hard not to, and Hunter owned people who made money.
Ez was driving, which was sensible, because she was sensible. She coaxed directions out of Leanne's mother, and they sped along, just under the speed limit. They needed to move quickly, but they had passengers, and Ez was wary, unused to cars.
It was nice to be in a car again.
They dropped them outside their house, left phone numbers and reassurances, and sped off again.
"So," said Ez, and it was Ez again, her inside bleeding through to her outside.
"So," said Hunter.
They looked at each other, then grinned at each other.
"Damn, you did good," said Ez.
"Damn, you didn’t do good," said Hunter. "You let the robots escape? Seriously?"
"They got in a car!" she protested. "Oh, crap. Hunter, I have no clue where I'm going."
“Oh, dear,” said Hunter. “This should be interesting.”
“There’s a map in the foot place.”
“Or maybe not.”
He dived down and got it, starting to flick through it. A road map of the country. Great. “Where are we now?”
“I don’t know!” said Ez.
“Well, follow signs for an A road.”
“Which A road?”
“Any of them, but tell me the one you’re going for. Then I can find you.”
“Hunter, I’m coming up to a T-junction here.”
“Yes, I can see that.”
“I don’t know which way to turn . . . !”
“Left.”
“Oh, that’s helpful.”
“Yes, it is.
Ez turned left. “Dead end. Crap.”
She drove to the right, then slowly twisted the steering wheel, swerving to the right in an attempt to turn around.
“Careful,” said Hunter testily as she bumped into the curb.
“I’m sorry, I’m trying!”
She was a bit out of practise with turning cars around. Or with cars, full stop. Ez edged forward again, then backed up again, then swerved the front around and headed straight ahead, to what had been the right junction. “Next time, I’m turning right.”
“Suit yourself. A road, Ez, A road.”
“I can’t see a fucking -”
“Roundabout!”
“Well, no, I totally can’t see that!”
“Take the A road from the roundabout!”
“What if there isn’t one?”
“Then take a B road!”
Ez took an A road from the first exit.
“Left,” Hunter said. “Okay. Got you. You’re on the map.”
“Good,” said Ez.
“Er . . .”
“What is it now?”
“Um, where do we live?”
“God, you’re the one who bought the house!”
“I didn’t buy it from a map, though, did I?”
“It’s okay, I think I know how to get to it.”
“You think?”
“I think.”
“I think, therefore I am. You think, therefore you’re lost.”
“What?”
“Well, it’s true.”
Ez didn’t understand Hunter sometimes, she really didn’t.
“Okay. That girl.”
“Tally,” said Hunter.
“Tally, then,” said Ez, and then narrowed her eyes at him. “Don’t identify.”
He gave her a mystified look.
“I know what you’re like. Getting attached never really helps you out. Don’t do it.”
“I wasn’t planning to.”
“You never plan, though, so that’s hardly reassuring.”
Hunter thought about that, but an answer didn’t materialised, so – “Tally.”
“Tally.”
“I think she was just in his way.”
“Maybe.”
“I heard a bit of the dialogue. “No, you move out of the way.” Then a slash. They’re robots, Ez, they don’t know how humans work. The people they model themselves off kill as if it’s no big deal, so they do the same.”
Then he sighed.
“You’re different,” Ez told him. “You do understand.”
“And I do it anyway,” he pointed out, but – “Did they sense you?”
“I’m pretty sure they didn’t.”
“Good.”
“Let’s just lie low for a while,” said Ez. “We revealed ourselves too much today. We’ll just go around sensing a bit, and wait for Leanne to contact us.”
END OF FIRST INSTALMENT
Was going to jump in with Lorcan but it's okay now.
I'm enjoying the plotline Zaf.
@Em: You can jump in, if you -

JADESY MY BABES OMG JESY'S LAUGH AND JADE'S "OH NOOOOOOO" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Those robots are evil. They killed Tally just because she was stood in their way. Eviiiiiiiiiiiil.
They're not actually evil. They don't think. They're designed to imitate human behaviour.
Hunter has killed people for being in his way before. He's killed people because they won't make his coffee fast enough.
It's not their fault they have such a crap role model. :P
Although I should note - Hunter and Ez are trying to defeat the robots, but Hunter does get along quite well with them when they capture him. He tries to teach them about empathy. They don't really understand it, but they try. :P
He has quite a few followers.
#ChaseForBookNine
Sorry bout that Em- also yeah hereish
WB, Zaf. :)

*waves* I seem to have better service in New Jersey its weird. I will continue until I'm where I'm supposed to be for Easter
does anyone know a polite, not provocative AT ALL, way of asking your parent/s when/if they are actually going to feed you? I've only had a sandwich today and that was something like 6 hours ago...I'm getting really hungry but I don't want to piss them off...
Aro: You like?
Alexis: Yes, where are we?
Aro: Inside the City, we're close to the Palace.
Alexis: Right.
Aro: *leads through the City, keeping an eye on Alexis*
Alexis: Where...are we going?
Aro: To meet some friends of mine.
Alexis: they won't kill me?
Aro: Nah, just relax. *heads to a less busy section of the City, and slips inside a house* Jake, Kristal come out.
@Silente: Um, no, not really . . .
@Zaf: This should be interesting. O_O
#ChaseForBookNine
Jake: Aro? We thought you died!
Kristal: Yeah! Zafira was in a right state, she wouldn't leave the Palace or anything.
Aro: I'm alive, but I cannot say where.
Jake: Who is that?
Aro: My sister, Alexis.
Alexis: Hello.
Aro: She's a Sense-Warden in America.
Kristal: Jake and I are Elementals, we used to have to patrol the City with Aro before the war, now Mevolent refuses to let anyone who spoke to Aro do anything, he's afraid.
Alexis: Afraid? Why?
Jake: Aro controlled Niccolò, that man came here and basically would have killed us all! He's mad!
*watching O_O*
#ChaseForBookNine
Alexis: So you guys are scared?
Kristal: Us? No. We know Aro, he'd never hurt an ally, he was always in charge of interogating the prisoners though.
Jake: Last guy we saw, he was released and he is so insane. Aro drove him into insanity.
Alexis: I didn't think it possible! What did the man do?
Jake: Resistance, most of the prisoners are Resistance, the man Aro had was worthless.
Aro: Don't terrify her.
Jake: You ought to be careful. Zafira is losing her mind, Mevolent gave up with telling her off.
Kristal: She's a Necromancer but insane...
Alexis: I've met her.
Jake: You're alive? Wow.
Aro: Guys! Don't scare her to death!
Jake: You want us to come into the Palace and sneak a bit?
Aro: Remember code 6?
Kristal: Really?!
Ezter :-)
@Lantern: Ezter. :)
You know that moment when -
In Clara's roleplay.
A little while after the Grand Finale.
It was a solo roleplay.
Oscar was at work.
And Photo came in and Oscar wasn't paying attention and he was chewing a Tic-Tac.
And then Precocious came later.
And Oscar had that massive stressed-out rant at Photo.
And then a bit later on Osmosis kissed.
And Photo just said -
". . .
I SHIP IT."
And anyway, I shall say "I SHIP IT," now, and you can just pretend I said it like Photo did, because I want it to have that kind of tone and feel to it. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
[Nods]
I remember that "I ship it."
Aro: Yes.
Jake: Excellent! May I show this hot- I mean nice lady to a room?
Alexis: Jake, I'm taken.
Jake: *goes red* Damn it!
Aro: Sorry.
Jake: Where is it?
Aro: I can show you. If you both are willing to come?
Kristal: Aro, I've waited for you to come home, I swore I'd follow you anywhere.
Aro: Jake?
Jake: Yeah...I'll come too.
Alexis: Is Kristal your girlfriend?
Aro: Yes, I've dated her for a year.
Kristal: We don't have much, can we go?
Aro: Yes.
Jake: Aro...*smiles* Come back for me. Take Kristal.
Aro: Are you sure?
Jake: Yes. Go.
Aro: *takes Alexis's and Kristal's hands and shunts over to Blogland*
Damn, Zaf. O_O This is interesting.
@Lantern: Yeah.
That's one of the roleplays I have saved. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Kristal: Where are we?!
Aro: My new home, Blogland.
Alexis: *lowers hood* Aro...I...
Aro: Go back to the treehouse.
Alexis: *goes*
Kristal: *eyes widen* I can meet your family?
Aro: Certainly.
Kristal: Do they know about..?
Aro: No. They don't know that part. *takes hand* Maybe we'll run into some Bloglandians.
*sees aro shunt back in*
*silently follows them*
*not making a noise*
Back.
Aro: Well this is my home.
Kristal: It's so peaceful here. The lake is beautiful...
Aro: Its awesome here, I just want to warn you. Alastair Cruciatus is around, he looks and sounds like Niccolò, he isn't. Alastair will try to hurt you, or he may not. Deal with him carefully.
Kristal: I will. I promise. I'm just glad to be free!
Aro: I said I'd come back for you, I never break my promises.
Kristal: You never do.
Aro: *grabs Kristal and throws into lake*
Kristal: Hey *sends a wave at him*
Aro: Eww I'm wet too!!
Kristal: *uses air to pull him in beside her* Mine!
Aro: *laughs* I am.
MSD!!!
@Zaf: Damn, this IS interesting. :)
Okay. :)
If you need Hunter/Ex, just tell me. Pretend I'm a pathetic version of a telephone. XD
#ChaseForBookNine
OKAY ZAF! WB DRAGONA!
*watches aro and the girl*
*wonders who she is and why she's here*
*Ez
#ChaseForBookNine
((If anyone would like to interact with Effie, either as herself or Brenna Ninjeranium, let me know. I'll be distant, maybe ghosting otherwise.))
Brenna Ninjeranium is an awesome name. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Thank you. :-)
Effie is actually an evolution of two of my earlier characters, called Brenna and Ophelia, and Ninjeranium is something she came up with herself because ninja and geranium and she felt like it. :-)
@Lantern: Effie is awesome. :)
Hunter thinks so too. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
MY NANA BOUGHT ME FROZEN FOR EASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also hi everyone *hugs everyone who is here*
@Chi: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! :)
#ChaseForBookNine
OH COME ON! REALLY?!
*sigh* Hello Star.
I have to dedicate this to Frozen and Silente now. One of the best Disney movies ever and my insane Frozen-watching partner.
*dodges chi's hug*
Yeyyyyyyyy! Also heyyyyyyyyyy!
@Chi: Yay. :)
I'm watching Frozen tomorrow . . . :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Wait. Did you just dedicate a page to me? Frozen I can understand, frozen is amazing. Better than amazing really. I'm just...me.
Effie thinks Hunter is weird.
She also thinks that she is weird, though, so she doesn't mean it as an insult.
@Lantern: *laughs*
I tend to call people weird and then forget that to other people it's an insult . . . :P
Weirdness is awesome. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Yes, Silente, I did.
Blake watched part of it too! from the bit Kristoff and Anna are being chased by wolves. He hates Hans, he thought he was going to be a good guy :3
Chi...let's hold back the spoilers. Don't want to ruin it for star or anyone who hasn't seen it. That'd be mean.
(Ah, I've had most of it spoiled for me already. :P)
#ChaseForBookNine
Then let's not spoil the rest :)
Sorry :3
wbd, watching Fairy Tail <3
@Silente: Thanks. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Yw. I accidently stumbled across a spoiler the day before o went. It was one about Hans. It annoyed je. So I try not to do that to others.
And okay then Chi.
[Walks into Blogland]
[adjusts sunglasses]
[looks around]
Hunter: *blinks at Brenna* Why, hello.
#ChaseForBookNine
((Star: I have spent so much time just writing out Hunter and Ez's mad nonsensical conversations. *laughs*
Oh, dear. :P))
#ChaseForBookNine
Oh, dear. :/ Gtg. :(
Be back later!
#ChaseForBookNine
Hello and goodbye, Hunter.
[She looks around, and doesn't see anyone]
[She walks casually over to a tree and leans against it]
[Still, she sees no one]
[She suddenly crouches and reaches into a hollow between the treeroots, pulls something out, studies it for half a second, then puts it back]
[Goes back to leaning against the tree]
*jumps out of said tree*
*lands in front of her not bothering to bend her knees*
