Apparently I'll be appearing at the Imagine Festival in London this Monday, the 17th. I had a blast last year, where I showed clips from movies, but I'm not entirely sure what I'll do this time. I might read from one of the new short stories. I'd read from the ninth book, but there is nothing from the early sections finished, and anything read from later on would be a spoiler, so...
Oh, and speaking of Book 9, I have just reached the 75,000 word mark. Judging by this, the finished book will be at least 100,000 words, which is Mortal Coil length, and could be longer. LSODM will stay the longest, I reckon, simply because of the massive amount of characters involved. But because most of those characters are now DEAD, Book 9 allows me a smaller, more intimate story — while remaining as heart-rendingly traumatic as anything I've written before.
And speaking of heart-rendingly traumatic, I've actually written the last few chapters. Not to completion, of course, but I've written enough to know what happens, and how it ends, and who lives and who dies, and all I can say is...
I am MEAN.

«Oldest ‹Older 1801 – 2000 of 4947 Newer› Newest»My mum never reread, and I told her off, and now she rereads and admits that she gets a lot from it. :) :)
YAH.
(She also has very little respect for the preservation of books. It hurts when I see her books under chair legs with dents in the covers and bends in the spines. It hurts.)
(She also bent the spines of a few of my Morganville Vampire books, but the covers are so crap I don't mind. :))
(I'm taking Chaos Walking with me when we next go on holiday so she can read them when she runs out of books.)
(She must read Chaos Walking.)
(She must.)
(SHE MUST.)
(Plus I don't own the actual books, and the library ones are bent anyway. :P I would also like her to read Skulduggery Pleasant, but I don't think my beautiful signed paperbacks are safe in her hands, so at home they shall stay.)
(I look forward to my summer holiday for the entire year, but do I look forward to things like heat and being in a foreign country? No. I look forward to bread and my mum reading my books.)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Annika: I commend your taste in books. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
*gasps*
I'm not the only one?
I TOO look forward to Mum reading my books!
She doesn't often get much time on her hands, but when she does she loves to read, so I'm constantly recommending my books to her, as well as to my circle of friends.
Recommending books is how I share myself, I suppose. They're like little bits of my soul. They're like horcruxes.
There's going to be a Mass Effect movie. :)
*realises I casually got distracted talking about nothing and now the glue has dried* DAMMIT.
#ChaseForBooknien
Hi Star! Hi Sir! Hi Fabi! Hi Dragona!
*sends hugs around*
@Star: I think Clarabelle's pretty wonderful, too. :)
ANd, maybe, but... Why are the movie people so different from the book-people? What about bookANDmovie people? Or movie-and-book people?
If they come to here and they choose to stay and be humans here and be in Blogland... idk. Not every person who reads/enjoys SP is a part of the Blogland, right? So why would all of the movie people be, too? idk.
So I guess another possibility is that some more people come and be a part of that group of people? Like... are there ordinary people? Or just different special or differentLY special people? I don't know.
Personally, I don't think that it will destroy anything, but it might grow, y'know?
Like, a tree doesn't have to grow straight up, and the twisty ones are better & more fun, like, for climbing and whatnot.
I... don't know what I'm saying anymore.
I like trees.
#ChaseForBook9
@Dragona: There is? Yay! :) :)
@Annika: Yaaaaaaaaay! :)
I'm not the only one so let them criticiseeeeeeeeeeeee!
And - I can empathise. :)
And that's why you need to reread books. It's a little unsettling, not knowing where to place your soul or even if it is your soul. Maybe it got used up.
. . .
I need a rechargeable soul. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
@Star: Everyone must read Chaos Walking. :P
@Dragona: Yay!
#ChaseForBook9
*looks down sadly*
*whispers* I don't have a soul.
I sold it to Crowley for the ability to write.
@Taia: Because people who read are awesome. :)
And you can have awesome movie people, and personally I believe everyone is awesome in a way, but you have those people at school who will -
I think it depends on how good the movie is, really.
And . . .
URGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. *screams in exasperation*
I really wish I would stop forgetting what I'm saying in the middle of saying it. It's getting annoying, now.
Um.
*tries helplessly to remember*
Uh.
Um.
Uh.
Um.
*reads Taia's comment again* *laughs* :) You're amazing, Taia. :)
And - you know when you're at school and you just look around and you're surrounded by this sea of people who don't understand you and never will and you just feel so lonely and you're so glad you discovered Blogland because you can't bear the thought of this being all the society you knew?
I don't want them here.
Although essentially, they're already here. It's just easier to talk on the internet.
Blogland is a place where strange people come. Many people come and are in awe about the freedom to be strange here.
I don't want all those people who don't like strangeness to come here.
I don't want the people who look at you like you're a weirdo or just ask you why you can't be normal.
And they're perfectly nice in their own way.
And in theory, if they were that 'normal', they wouldn't like SP anyway.
It's just a selfish, irrational fear, and now we can disregard it and look forward to the movie, I guess. :) Thank you for helping me uncover it.
(See, this is why I love talking. You discover so many things that were in your thoughts all along and you never knew.)
#ChaseForBookNine
That certainly is not the worst thing to sell one's soul for, Ms. Barnosky.
That's true. My options were Underwater Taxidermist, Community Radio Show Host, or Writer.
I chose Author, though I'm beginning to wish I'd chosen Community Radio Show Host instead.
*Writer
@Taia: Everyone must. :)
@Annika: You don't have a soul? I don't have a life! And I don't have one for many reasons, including bubbles not being alive, me being a sad person, and me dying on a regular basis because of evil entities like you, so . . .
I have no idea where that sentence was going to go.
See? I'VE FORGOTTEN WHAT I WAS SAYING AGAIN.
*screams in exasperation*
#ChaseForBookNine
My mum always tells me off for re-reading.
I had my face in The Ask And The Answer just before Christmas and she's just there like "You're reading that AGAIN?"
She doesn't GET rereading. :(
She DID read a little of Chaos Walking. BUt I think she got so confused, because she didn't TELL me she was taking my book, and started with Monsters Of Men. *facepalms* So she had no idea what was going on and quickly gave up.
Patrick Ness used such a different writing style in that, plus the acquired concepts through the trilogy... You have to start from the first, I think. I have not managed to get her back at those since.
#ChaseForBook9
@Taia: Aw. :( :(
You do have to start at the beginning with Chaos Walking. *nods* It's just that type of series.
Whereas with something like Percy Jackson, it wouldn't matter as much. :)
I think you could start a bit out of order with SP, but the need for order gets more empathised as you go up.
#ChaseForBookNine
I personally never start a book series out-of-order. It just doesn't sit right with me. And neither does skipping books or whole seasons of TV shows.
*hugsStar*
"you know when you're at school and you just look around and you're surrounded by this sea of people who don't understand you and never will and you just feel so lonely and you're so glad you discovered Blogland because you can't bear the thought of this being all the society you knew?"
How do you put a thing into things, Star? You just, like, KNOW. idk.
Yeah. And it's amazing just having an alternate community, let alone it being the one that it is, y'know?
But I think that... Like... I'm one of those people. If you ever saw me in a street, and you didn't know I was me... I'm just another person who's not... idk. I'm another potential movie-person, not a book-person, y'know? I don't know.
I figure... If you don't like the strange, why would you stay? Maybe you'd LEARN that actually, you DO like the strange. You didn't know that before. I don't know.
I don't know what I'm saying. Again.
And I almost started talking about trees again, there. It think there's a Tom Waits quote... maybe that's why.
But- Thank YOU, too. :)
I agree. Talking/typing is incredible, because... Well, what you said. It untangles things or pieces them together. :)
#ChaseForBook9
@Annika: You'd make a good Community Radio Show Host, I think. Though it probably depends on the community.
*ponders on what a Blogland Radio Show would be like*
A friendly internet community where the sun is black as sackcloth, the moon is like unto blood, and purple carrots fly overhead while we all pretend to sleep.
Welcome to Blogland.
*laughs*
omg Annika that is perfect. xD
*grins*
#ChaseForBook9
I'M AT HOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
*is tapping my fingers very loudly and noisily on my laptop and is ignoring the feeling that I'm not disturbing anyone*
*but has to stop tapping to type*
Foot: *starts shaking*
I think I'm in a fiddly mood. :P
@Taia: *hugs* Thank you. :)
Idk . . . when I write or talk, I just think, and my thoughts just go straight from my head to my mouth/hands without a filter, and over the past few days I've occasionally just been O_O about that, like I'll talk and then I'll be so O_O about how I've thinking at the same times as I'm talking, except I'll talk these thoughts, and then I'll start saying how odd talking is, and then I'll say about how nobody is listening so I might as well stop talking now, but I've not stopped talking, and idk, why am I still talking, and obviously by these point my friends are either ignoring me or staring at me like I'm crazy. :P
But my point WAS MEANT TO BE -
You just sort of talk your thoughts, and whilst you're doing that, you're caught up in the thinking, and you're not in a science classroom or whatever, you're just up there with your thoughts, and then you come back into reality and look around and go well HELLO there. And if you did this on the internet, then when you read back, everything seems so flat and formless, because you haven't portrayed this wonderful world of thoughts, and I have to go for dinner now.
And - "Maybe you'd LEARN that actually, you DO like the strange. You didn't know that before."
That's such a good point. :)
Once again, Taia, you have influenced me and expanded my brain. :)
(And now, I must go for dinner. Bbs.)
#ChaseForbooknine
Lights.
Seen in the sky above Trip's bar.
Not the glowing magic of Trip's bar. Something higher, and beyond that.
We've caught onto their game
We understand the "lights above Trip's bar" game.
Invaders from another comment thread.
Ladies and gentlemen, the future is here, and it's about a hundred feet above Trip's bar.
((...Actually, the Tom Waits quote I was thinking of has nothing to do with that. But there is one involving trees and strangeness and it's in my head. Whether or not that explains the tree thing, idk.
Also, there are a lot of torn apart trees because of the big storm-shaped slap this week, so...
Idk. Maybe trees a just a temporary motif in my life, currently. :P ))
#ChaseForBook9
Dynamite
Hey guys! (And girls. And men. And women. And everyone in between) how are you all?
This Friday afternoon, the God-mod department will be spraying pesticide in all public role-plays, and on neighborhoods with dense foliage and role-players with predominantly Irish heritage. Blogland is making a strong effort to reduce the role-player population, and the dangerous diseases that they carry. Last year, role-players were responsible for outbreaks of plot twists, panic, panache, feels, and Moffat Syndrome. Please stay indoors from 1 PM Friday until 10 PM Saturday to avoid dermal contact with the pesticide.
*huggles Star* THank you.
And, see you later!
@Annika: You are perfect, okay?
Night Vale. Blogland. No.
YEs.
#ChaseForBook9
Okay, I'm done with that bit.
'Twas fun, however.
@Zaf: Gelignite?
Hi, Tempest! I'm doing good, thanks. :) How're you?
#ChaseForBook9
Hey Taia I'm fine thanks!
@zaf dynamite doggy
“This is about all the bad days in the world. I used to have some little bad days, and I kept them in a little box. And one day, I threw them out into the yard. "Oh, it's just a couple little innocent bad days." Well, we had a big rain. I don't know what it was growing in but I think we used to put eggshells out there and coffee grounds, too. Don't plant your bad days. They grow into weeks. The weeks grow into months. Before you know it you got yourself a bad year."
Tom Waitssssssssss.
#ChaseForBook9
I hear the song of my people! I must fly!
*departs*
@Taia: That quote is awesome. :)
@Annika: *laughs* XD Awesomeness. :)
Hey, Silente! :)
*annoying
How do you get 'ignoring' out of 'annoying'?
(I mean, the words are quite similar, but . . .)
#ChaseForBookNine
Hey star how are you?
Bye Annika! *waves*
brb going to find liquid
#ChaseForBook9
*sits in tree*
@annika bye?
*looks up tree* hey zaf, I got you a pressi. *holds up dynamite* oh and this too *holds up puppie*
(by 'going to find liquid', what I actually meant was 'going to pour four glasses of water into my system'. The former was not really applicable, because I knew where the water was - it didn't need finding, as such.
Also - how am I suddenly thirsty now? I wasn't before, and I just swallowed four glasses of water. FOUR. O.o )
#ChaseForBook9
Awww thank you!!!
Also, why do we need to drink water, externally? Because if water is a product of respiration ANYWAY, why couldn't our bodies just adapt to harness that water somehow. ANd then we'd never die of thirst, unless we were starving anyway. And we would also not have to pee so much.
Right?
#ChaseForBook9
Cute. :]
What kind of puppy? :3 ^^
#ChaseForBOok9
@Taia: I don't know. O_O
Evolution hasn't caught up yet?
And we don't need to evolve now because water is generally available . . .
Sorry for disappearing . . .
I'm okay, Silente. :) You?
#ChaseForBookNine
You know how I was drawing Effie again?
And I got the hair perfect, the eyes meh and the mouth horrible?
Well, I'm trying again and this time the hair is even perfect-er. So far, anyway.
:-)
@Lantern: Yaaay! :) :)
And I like your profile picture, btw. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
I'm rather bored and restless, so msd. I might find something to do. :)
#ChaseForBookNine

@Star: Hm. I think I'll ask my brother later. He's good at that sort of thing, I think. :)
And, no problem. :)
@Fabi: Awesome! :)
I hope it continues as well as it sounds, so far.
OK, Star.

Hi Zaf, Taia, Silente.
Thanks Taia [hugs]
:-P
Heya moss!
Okay, so I just started tapping my phone against my hands, and when I put my elbow on the radiator and tap my fingers with my phone, the radiator makes this slight echoing noise and it's rather cool. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Yes I do!!!
Herrow, mortals with a sleeping pattern that makes any sense.
#ChaseforBook9
I'm glad zaf. Anyway gtg bye guys!
Sorry I poofed. Dad came in to talk about some things and start spontaneously cleaning my floor (which really isn't that bad)
Hi TRip! :) How're you doing?
Bye Zaf!

#CHaseForBook9
Bye Silente.
I always miss her.
#ChaseForBook9
don't let them in,

don't let them know...
I'm not tired any more, which is good. You?
#ChaseForBook9
*Tempest
I read Zaf in the comment, I think. Sorry. :P ^^
#CHaseForBook9

I'm doing pretty good, thanks. ^^
#CHaseForBook9
Very good.
#ChaseForBook9
*explodes* Ba-boom
Hey Mara! :)
#ChaseForBook9
Ah! That was an awfully loud explosion, would you mind turning it down a little?
#ChaseforBook9
*collects all of the tiny pieces of exploded Zaf and carefully glues them back together*
#ChaseForBook9
*explodes again* BA-BOOM
Arg! Darned hoodlums! *shakes fist*
#ChaseForBook9
...Maybe we need a stronger adhesive? :P
#ChaseForBook9
*stands up* Hello. Ah the dynamite is fun *England explodes* Oopsie
May I suggest concrete?
#ChaseForBook9
*sticks England back together with pritt stick and selotape*
#ChaseForBook9
*laughs* What, we could have Zaf as a monumental statue? :P
*peers over the border* Whoops. Poor England. :P
Nice work, Trip.
*nods*
#CHaseForBook9
Thanks!
#ChaseForBook9
*it explodes again as does Derek*
The next person who tells him I exploded him at a signing is gonna end up with dynamite in their head
*finds a pair of knitting needles and some wool, and sets to repairing Derek again*
Alright, Zaf. :P
#ChaseForBook9
*grumbles*
*stiscks England back together with SUPER GLUE. It has a cape and everyfunk.*
gtg, shower.
#ChaseForBook9
*rebuilds England with Lego bricks, while she's at it*
#ChaseForBook9
*he just keeps going ka-boom*
See why I love that he never comments: I can blow him up again and again and he has no idea
And he can't complain he said no blowing up Em or Ireland he never mentioned himself.
*laughs* SUPER-GLUE is better. :P ^^
See you, Trip!
#ChaseForBook9
Hm. Maybe his ego isn't as big as he makes out. ^^
*Sews him back together again*
#ChaseForBook9
*makes him explode again*
*laughs* This isn't going to get anywhere, is it? :P
*rebuilds Derek with Lego bricks, instead*
#ChaseForBook9
*glues Derek back together with roller glue*
Not really here. The Voice is on in a minute . . .
#ChaseForBookNine
*he explodes and the pieces fly in the wind*
Taia what if he actually read this?
I'm not liking this season of The Voice as much.
They just all start flirting. *shrugs*
#ChaseForBookNine
*chases the flying Derek pieces, wielding a butterfly net and screaming a battle cry at the top of her lungs*
I have no idea, Zaf. :P
*catches the pieces with the net, and sticks them together again with PVA*
...He may have lost a finger or two by now, though. :P
#ChaseForBook9
@Star: I haven't watched it before. I hope it gets better, though?
I can't take the word 'flirting' seriously any more, since that last psychology lesson, though... :P
#ChaseForBook9
PVA is the worst kind of glue. Never use it for anything. EVER.
I HAVE RETURNED, MORTALS!
#ChaseForBook9
0.0
OK, Trip. I'll avoid Polyvinyl acetate from here on, then. :P
*washes the glue off of Derek before it dries*
What WOULD you recommend, then?
(Welcome back! :])
#ChaseForBook9
*he explodes again*
Well apart from SUPER GLUE! There's also special medical glues used to close up large cuts and incisions, I suggest that one for putting a person back together.
#ChaseForBook9
gotta gooooo
Bye all!

*Adra steps from her portal*
*She is exhausted, and her stomach looks slightly more swollen*
*Her breathing is heavy, and her dark purple cloak gone*
*She stumbles, sitting on the chair outside her lab as tears begin to form in her eyes, then she collapses into sobs*
-
Hello!
If anyone is here..
[pokes Star]
Newsfeed. XD
[waves to Adra]
Hello.
Ah, well...
-
*Adra quickly moves from her porch to te inside of her lab, wiping her eyes, the faint taste of blood in her tongue*
*Pats her bump and grabs a glass of water from her kitchen, drinking it quickly*
*She can still see them- a second wave of the attack from a month ago, lying on the pavement like discarded trash*
*Shivers delicately and goes for the ladder that leads to her tower, quickly ascending*
Hello Fabi, Dragona
*uses Trip's particular medical glue recommendation to repair Derek again*

Sorry for poofing. Farewell Continental distracted me.

Bye Adra!
#ChaseForBook9
Hello Miss Taia.
Hello Miss Snow.
Hi. :)
G'day, Henry!
Hey, Snow!
How are ye both?
#ChaseForBook9
Sorry I poofed.
No worries, Dragona. How're you doing?
#ChaseForBook9
I am dead. *nods*
I am fine, thank you.
So apparently the ultramarine blue is more of an indigo and the indigo is more of an ultramarine blue.
((Effie's eyes are now the wrong color))
((GAH))
D:
I hope it's an enjoyable experience, Snow. How did that happen, might I ask? :)
Good to hear, Jekyll. :)
@Fabi: That sucks! D:
What medium are you working with? You might be able to go over at least a little, even if only tinting the colour a little?
#ChaseForBook9
I am working in England of course. With Hyde safely in the back of my head, I can work in peace.
Pastel pencil. So it sort of half-erases, but it smears so easily...
If anyone can fix it, it's you, fab
Sorry, poofed again.
Haha, thanks.
Yeah, I wouldn't let anyone else near my artwork. :-P
Hm. I recently found that I can't use pastel because it kind of screws up my respiratory system, but... Once I start I'm like "I CAN'T BREATHE BUT I NEED TO FINISH THIS."
Thinking back those couple of weeks... I spent most of that time trying to match a particular colour - which was lighter than a blue would be, but... I don't know.
Could you use the same ultramarine/indigo on another bit of paper and then layer over with a white, and then work over with some colours until you find one that's useful?
Otherwise, I'm not sure - Good luck with it, anyway, Fabi. I hope it turns out alright. :) ^^
#ChaseForBook9
I poofed a lot.
Layering over doesn't work, but I have a blend of ultramarine and indigo that will have to work now.
Poor moss. It can't be that bad...plus by the sound of it your art is amazing without colour.
"I never washed behind the ears
'Cause I've been growing this for years"
idek with Justin Pierre's lyrics sometimes.
-
Np, Dragona. Welcome back. :)
Alright, Fabi. :)
#ChaseForBook9
@Moss: I actually thought it was newsfeed and all. :P
IT WAS LATE. I WAS TIRED.
(I think. It might have been the morning, idk.)
(. . . No, it was nighttime. :P)
#ChaseForBookNine
hi...
Hello, Silente. Miss or Mr?
Hey Em! :)
#ChaseForBookNine
And my heart won't beat again,
If I can't feel him in my veins,
No need to question,
I already know... ❤️
Hey Mara! :)
It feels like we haven't seen each other in a while. Haven't we, or is it just me? Anyway. Hi. :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Hey! How are you
Not really, but thanks, Silente.
Well, it made me laugh, Star. :-P
Hi Em [hugs]
[hugs Mara]
Jekyll. Or is it Mr Hyde. I'm just Silente. Or Tempest. I don't need a title. :)
@Moss: Then I'm incredibly glad I said it, Lantern. :) :)
#ChaseForBookNine
Em! Hi! *hugs*
Hiya Mara! *hugs, too*
How are you both doing?
#CHaseForBook9
Sorry, poofed
@Silente: People like Sir and Jekyll like to use titles. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
Well in that case its miss.
You may call me Jekyll. If my counterpart Hyde, were he out my name would be changed to his. Though he shall not be making an appearence.
Hello Miss Emerald. How are you?
Indeed, I find it to be a respectful way of greeting someone. If you wish for me not to use a title, I shall not. If I were Hyde, he would simply glare at you or plot your death. Whichever came first.
*hugs Star*
I was only here once yesterday for five seconds bc I was at a sleepover, so maybe that's why? :)
*huggles Fabi*
*hugs Taia*
I'm good, thanks! How are you?
*ninja hugs all*
Ah but Mr Hyde would find I'm not an easy vampire to kill. And glares do not effect me, I get them a lot.
That good to hear, Mara. :) I'm good, too. :)
*is ninjahugs/hugs back* :)
#CHaseForBook9
*hugs snow back* dang girl u sneeky

Mara it good that you get to see your bands live little tip try o sneek some water in, in usually cost loads there and you'll probably need it if your not seated..
I didn't see one on the list...
Yeah....
@Jekyll yeah...?
Awesome, Mara! *hugs*
I hope they're perfect for you. :)
@Fabi: Someday. Hang in there.
Justin Pierre has said so many times that Farewell Continental is a tiny art project that will rarely, if ever, leave Minnesota. If they ever made it to the UK I would probably just break down into tears regardless of where I was. :P
#ChaseForBook9
@Mara: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! :) :)
I go through phases, with obsessions. :P And maybe sometimes you're just more into one thing than another thing.
I just found out just now (well, like ten minutes ago. The damn internet was failing) that Cornelia Funke is German. O_O
Which makes me really wish I could understand German and read the original, because I'll bet you a lot of things it'll be better. Sometimes there's just one word that fits, or one particular impression that you want to give off, and if it's translated into another language you'll lose that. Sometimes I've thought that Inkheart are very good books but that the tone doesn't really crap me, and that could be because it's translated, and I really wish I could read the original thing.
And this is why I took two languages for GSCE - to UNDERSTAND. I did not take German to pass some stupid exam or to have fun, I took it to FUCKING LEARN GERMAN.
I am one of those people who would actually rather like to LEARN. I know you're sick of me going on about science, but in physics, me and my friend can talk all lesson and not do anything and it is WONDERFUL. I've had some of the best conversations then.
And yet, I prefer biology, where we have very little time to talk because we're constantly working (my friend said that in chemistry, she had just the right amount of time to write things down, in physics, she had too much time, and in biology, she never finished writing stuff down before he moved on) or having to be in silence, and I much prefer biology, because it's interesting and we actually LEARN.
I would rather just come into German and sit in silence and work all lesson than have fun and eat biscuits, and that is the truth, and . . . yeah.
Idk. :P You're probably sick of me going on about this stuff.
But I go to school every day, so I'm reminded of it every day, and therefore I get passionate about it every day, so . . . *shrugs*

My mum pointed out yesterday, though, that how well would I do if I went to Endeavour (that's a school in Hull) where only 20% of them got A-C grades?
She said the other day Justin was asking her if it was normal to have a police officer at your school and she was having to explain why it wasn't.
And she says that's why she does her job, because it makes her so angry that people with such disadvantages are expected to do as well in life as everyone else.

[hugs]
@Star: *nods* I know what you mean. I prefer physics over biology and chemistry entirely because I learn more. My chemistry teacher often takes 15-20 minutes to turn up to our lessons, if she comes at all, and then has no idea what she's talking about. (she doesn't know the chemical formula for glucose. SHe's the head of the fucking science department and she has to read the chemical formula for glucose off of a ks3 worksheet. She thought it was an alcohol. T.T)
Our biology teacher gives us a tiny bit of work and a lot of time to complete it.
My physics teacher gets through two or three lessons' worth, in full detail, in an hour.
You do NOT get a break in physics at all.
That's also why I don't like the way languages are taught in school. I hate my Welsh lessons. I hate them. But I sit here now and I think, damn, it'd actually be really cool to be able to speak Welsh. BEcause there's a difference between learning to pass your exam and actually learning to speak and apply a language.
Who cares if I can describe my school in German? Who cares how well I can make up and memorize a German essay about my work experiences, (oh damn I still need to do that)?
I don't.
I care about whether I can say the things that I actually need to say.
I don't even know what "Have a nice day!" would be, in German. It's just dumb, imo.

We have a police officer here too... his names PC booth. Mind you I already knew our school was shit before being introduce to the police officer. Seriously. It when from good to unnaceptable. We lost our head teacher and got one from a different school. You get a detention for not having, say, a pencil sharpener. All the good teachers have left and been replaced. All the other teachers had turned into idiots (save one or two) and its not getting any better. They constantly go on about 'your future' and come up with a different excuse each year as to why we should behave. They say 'work hard now and have fun in the future' but look at the adults, most of them are depressed...
Okay rant over.
@Star: I know. And I think that's so unfair, too. Because the quality of learning depends on the quality of provided education. That's not the student's fault. It's probably not even the school's fault, really.
Good for your mum. ^^
#ChaseForBook9
You're not supposed to say "work harder". Targets should be specific and attainable. :P
I go to an outstanding school, and it's the best in the area, so I'm not sure what the hell I have to complain about, really . . . :P But I guess I complain a lot. And get highly emotional about irrelevant things.
@Taia: Your chemistry teachers sounds awful. -_- WE'RE all expected to know the chemical formula for glucose. :P
(C6H12O6.)
(Yes?)
(No?)
(I got told it for the first time a few months ago. If I know it, SHE SHOULD KNOW IT.)
I could rant for a long, long time about school, mainly because I go to school every day so it comes up in my mind and in conversation a lot. :P
#ChaseForBookNine
@Taia: Yeah . . . Witherensea High School . . . my mum used to work in that area, when she was a youth worker, and she says that it's actually a fantastic school, but the kids have so many problems (it's a really bad area) that the school spends the whole time sorting them out and so nobody ever gets to learn anything, and it gets some of the worst results in the area . . .
My mum also told me about this other school where nearly all the kids were refugees or whatever, and how it was a fantastic, fantastic school and was really good at what it did but the results were really bad because obviously most people didn't come with the same standard of learning as most people would if they'd grown up in England, so it got shut down. :/
And, yeah. :) My mum's awesome.

One of the most annoying things about word transposition is when you say the OPPOSITE word in a sentence. For example, best instead of worst. -_-
(I know the correct term for word transposition now, though. Halleluiah!)
#ChaseForBookNine
Still here btw
There's a boot company called Hunter and I just put 'hunter' into google images and came up with a load of boots. :P
Hunter rather likes that, really.
Hi, Snow! :)
#ChaseForBookNine
(Although 'word transposion' always feels like it should have a negative in the last word, like word transdisposition or word distransposition or something. :P My brain keeps going 'disposition'. It feels like it should be a negative of a phrase for saying words correctly, but it isn't.)
#ChaseForBooknine
@Star: Mm-hm. It REALLY annoyed me at the time. It wasn't even as though she just made a mistake, she had no idea. At first, she'd gone with C6H12OH. And the whole class, who didn't know it, wrote that.
So I was like, "Er, isn't that supposed to be a 6 rather than an H?" and she paused and frowned and paused and frowned and looked at the worksheet she had in front of her, which she'd also given to us, and had some typing errors, and was like "Yeah, right, sure". So then it became C6H12OH6. And so everybody int he class who didn't know still had it wrong.
It was written in an equation, too. It was so severely unbalanced it was hard to miss, really. :P
And, that sucks. :( ^^
#CHaseforBook9
@Snow: Yay! *waves* :)
#ChaseForBook9
I have a sudden urge to watch the labyrinth. Like its such a great film, theres only one part I don't like. It wouldn't be the same if it was made nowadays... they'd use green screens and SGI and animated goblins instead of actual sets and puppets and what not.
@Taia: -_- *facepalm*
I pity you. :/
@Silente: Can't blame them for that, though. :P
Brb.

*hugs Fabi*
I checked lots of websites and they weren't coming to Seattle:( I'm sorry *huggles*
But I do have some good teachers.
My physics teacher is good.
And both my psychology teachers are good, too.
My maths teacher is good, but he tries to be cool, and I just think he -and his students- would be so much happier if he would just stop with that, it's sad. :(
The only smiles he ever gives in school is when he writes comments in your book. And the comments are so nice, it's like, why can't he be like that in the spoken word, rather than just on paper, y'know?
(This is the one who quite literally made my crappy month perfect with a cookie. I was sat in class trying so hard to stop grinning and eat my cookie and finish my work. :P )
My Welsh teacher is pretty sweet, but has to deal with everybody hating his subject and not taking him seriously.
I think I have a fair variety. *shrugs*
#ChaseForBook9
... I think I went a little of track there. :P
@Tempest: Hm. I've never seen it. I think I'd like the physical sets and puppets, though. They feel more, kind of, authentic, I guess.
Both have ups & downs, I suppose. ^^

Most of my teachers are alright... my science teacher was horrible but she's slowly getting better. My history teachers dull. None of them particularly hate me. My french teacher is great and real chirpy but also on maternity leave so now we only have subs. I can't complain because I got a good draw but some are just terrible...
*off
@Tempest: *nods* I get you.
You win some, you lose some, I guess?

@Taia NEVER SEEN THE LABYRINTH? HOW? Okay where do you live. Do you have a VCR cause yo need to see it.
I also wanna watch Hercules and the emporers new groove and the fox and the hound and Tarzan and lelo and stitch and basically all the old Disney films
*looks at Taia* you HAVE seen the Disney films, right?
http://www.quotev.com/27529860/activity/84605478
I am dead. DEAD!
@Tempest: Our VCR broke, and instead of just GETTING A NEW ONE my mum decided to throw out ALL OF OUR VIDEOS instead. T.T
And, er, not- *coughs* not exactly, no.
I've seen... I MIGHT have seen Tarzan. I've seen- I've seen the Lion King (but not the second one, but maybe the third one, I think?), and Finding Nemo (bc that's basically the best thing ever), and the Jungle Book. Dumbo.
But I never saw Hercules or Aladdin or the Fox and the Hound or the one with the bear(?)... Not the Little Mermaid (I get a LOT of abuse for not having seen that one :P), nor... any of the Disney Princess-y ones, not Mulan. I haven't even seen BAMBI.
*hides*

@Snow: :P
#ChaseForBook9
BACK!
I guess we all have a variety, and it also depends what we look for in a teacher - and in people, too. :) Like, I think my French teacher's ace, but my friend hates her, and we look for similar requirements in teachers.
@Taia: You are one awesome person. :)
@Snow: I have been dead a long time. *sighs*
I mean, technically I'm a bubble so I was never alive, but also . . . I mean, LOOK at the post we're on. LOOK at it. Of course I'm dead. :P
