Well then.
As you know, I've been writing. Writing, writing, writing. You don't get to do an awful lot of other things when you're writing. Well, sometimes you do, but not when you have deadlines like these. The short stories I'm writing, all of them, need to be delivered by Wednesday. The first draft of Book Nine needs to be delivered by the middle of next month.
To say I am a tad busy would be something of an understatement.
Of course, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and why would Jack want to be a dull boy? I've been doing things. Reading things. Watching things.
Take this evening, for instance. This evening I watched the last Sherlock of the current season. The first episode of the season was oddly character-driven, at the expense of the central mystery, but I didn't mind that in the least. The second episode, the wedding episode, was hilariously sublime. And the final episode, having Sherlock face off against a truly unique villain... well. It was just wonderful stuff.
And I've been reading. Stephen King, mostly. Going over his early works. His classics. When I was a kid, I went straight from The Three Investigators and the Hardy Boys to Stephen King and these wonderfully violent and detailed Gold Eagle books like The Executioner and Able Team and Phoenix Force, books that gave you diagrams of the weapons they used at the back of the book. Basically, I graduated from kids books to horror and action. And after a few Stephen King books like Cujo (the first King book I can remember reading) I went on to James Herbert and Shaun Hutson — overtly violent and brilliantly horrific.
And now, after all this time, I'm going back to Stephen King, and loving it all.
Recommendations? Read The Stand. Then read It. Two MASSIVE books. You won't be sorry.
So these things have been my break from the writing. Christmas, for me, was mostly about the short stories. But there was one story...
It started off fine. Exactly as I planned. It would be a new kind of story, something I hadn't really tried before. It would probably end up as one of the longer stories of the collection, though, but not by much.
I thought.
I have just finished it. Half an hour ago, I finished it. At the moment, before edits, it is over 20,000 words long. That's twice as long as The End of the World. So you'll be reading through Armageddon-Outta-Here (haw!), and hopefully enjoying the stories, and then you'll get to this brand new novella, a good, solid chunky story, and I think this story alone will make the collection worth the money.
I think. I hope. Right now I'm far too tired to form a coherent opinion. All I know is, I've been working hard. And it's not over yet.

Snow, last year, in grade 7, I had to write 3 dreamtime stories for a project, and the two that I had planned out took 1 week each, and were really good, as my teacher said, but then I did one that I didn't plan, and it took 2 1/2 hours, and was one of my best stories ever! My story was so good, that my teacher showed other kids parents what their story's should be more like

(Although, that said, whenever I use random selection, I always disregard it and carry on struggling to make the decisions on my own. I think it's because I want to be happy with my decision, and to know it's the thing I want. Like when I had an argument with my sister, and my dad suggested a coin toss, and I said no, because I wanted to win PROPERLY. And it wasn't because the arguing was more important than the prize - I really did want to get what I wanted - and it WAS partially because 50/50 was too high a risk, but it was also because I wanted to get terms that I was comfortable with, and if I argued to a compromise, I wouldn't get what I originally wanted, but I would have acceptance for what I did get, and then I wouldn't be all resentful about it.)

Going mostly off topic but not quite (thin threads. It's mostly the same tone as the conversation in my head and that's the link, but yeahhhh . . .), we had an assembly about bullying today, and we got informed that the thing people were bullied most about was weight.
Just, WHY.
We also got told that in a survey or whatever, 19% admitted to bullying someone at some time, 16% admitted to being bullied at some time, and 6% admitted to both.
That's both interesting and wth.
I think 'bullying' is a bit of a stupid way to talk about it to us, tbh. 'Bullying' is now, in our minds, this really serious thing (coz you know, we often get told how serious it is), and so we don't really think about how what we're saying could be linked so something so serious, kinda.
BUt I know what they're on about, because if they get us to realise that these things we don't think about ARE bullying, then we're like O_O because we know how serious bullying is (or should do).

Don't you hate it when kids are moaning about how crap a teacher is, and then they start going on about how fat they are?
It's just . . . their weight has NO RELEVANCE. And if you're just insulting them for the sake of it, you cease to actually have a point and just end up being some kids who insult people. -_-
They don't just do it to teachers, but teachers is a major one.
If you're going to be immature like that, you're not looking mature enough to have a legitimate reason for them to be fired or whatever.
And that's not even going into how irrelevant weight really is (unless you're so fat/thin it's dangerous to your health.)

I looked up the lyrics to Vermilion Pt.2 by Slipknot a while ago to compare them to the lyrics of Vermilion, and I was reading a few of the reviews (because it's a website that lets you post reviews beneath), and half of the top review (which analysed both pt.1 and pt.2) reminded me of Osmosis:
"The lines about the black dahlia in part 1 show that the person is fantasizing about doing awful perverted things to her, to the point in which he may even KILL HER. He's stalked and obsessed over her, but his fear of losing her, and perhaps a deep-rooted hate for her, because of that, have led to this ultimate ending, in his mind. He feels he can be her master because of his power over her, and yet he is a slave to her because of his love an obsession with her, which forms a hate inside because he then forfeits control, control being the key to all of this. The only way for him to live now, without baring the pain of being without her (because in some way she will eventually be gone) is to kill her. Vermilion Pt.1 can be kind of scary.
But Vermilion Pt.2 is BEAUTIFUL.
And I love the similarities between the two, and how they're the same and yet so different, and it IS like the different portrayal of the same situation, and asdfghjkl.)
