Well then.
As you know, I've been writing. Writing, writing, writing. You don't get to do an awful lot of other things when you're writing. Well, sometimes you do, but not when you have deadlines like these. The short stories I'm writing, all of them, need to be delivered by Wednesday. The first draft of Book Nine needs to be delivered by the middle of next month.
To say I am a tad busy would be something of an understatement.
Of course, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and why would Jack want to be a dull boy? I've been doing things. Reading things. Watching things.
Take this evening, for instance. This evening I watched the last Sherlock of the current season. The first episode of the season was oddly character-driven, at the expense of the central mystery, but I didn't mind that in the least. The second episode, the wedding episode, was hilariously sublime. And the final episode, having Sherlock face off against a truly unique villain... well. It was just wonderful stuff.
And I've been reading. Stephen King, mostly. Going over his early works. His classics. When I was a kid, I went straight from The Three Investigators and the Hardy Boys to Stephen King and these wonderfully violent and detailed Gold Eagle books like The Executioner and Able Team and Phoenix Force, books that gave you diagrams of the weapons they used at the back of the book. Basically, I graduated from kids books to horror and action. And after a few Stephen King books like Cujo (the first King book I can remember reading) I went on to James Herbert and Shaun Hutson — overtly violent and brilliantly horrific.
And now, after all this time, I'm going back to Stephen King, and loving it all.
Recommendations? Read The Stand. Then read It. Two MASSIVE books. You won't be sorry.
So these things have been my break from the writing. Christmas, for me, was mostly about the short stories. But there was one story...
It started off fine. Exactly as I planned. It would be a new kind of story, something I hadn't really tried before. It would probably end up as one of the longer stories of the collection, though, but not by much.
I thought.
I have just finished it. Half an hour ago, I finished it. At the moment, before edits, it is over 20,000 words long. That's twice as long as The End of the World. So you'll be reading through Armageddon-Outta-Here (haw!), and hopefully enjoying the stories, and then you'll get to this brand new novella, a good, solid chunky story, and I think this story alone will make the collection worth the money.
I think. I hope. Right now I'm far too tired to form a coherent opinion. All I know is, I've been working hard. And it's not over yet.

Well, I'm always distracted, and always thinking about multiple things at once. My processing speed is at 18% of a normal person's. A few years ago it was 3%. So I'm used to being distracted. That day was awful. I literally just completely stopped in the middle of a few exercises. Or I'd forget that I was supposed to start moving when it was my turn, and hold up everyone who was standing behind me. The teacher asked me if I was ok afterwards because I was just really really bad. And I told her I was just reading this book, and I was so itching to get back to it, and she gave me this disapproving look and dismissed me and I sprinted up the stairs to keep reading and called my dad to pick me up half an hour late because I was reading.

Anni- I have three that are all tied for first, in my mind. One is the Flamel series, another is Skulduggery, and I can't even think of the third right now. But the Flamel series wouldn't be up there if it weren't for Scatty. Not that it isn't fantastic, just that there's enough in it that I don't love as much as the other series that I would have to move it down, except she's in it, so it stays.
And then regarding people- the three people I aspire to most, out of everyone ever, are Tesla, Scatty, and L. I'm not even going to go into the others. But I'm pretty confident, and pretty fond of myself, and I really wouldn't want to be anyone else. I really just enjoy being me, and wouldn't change myself. But I would be Scatty if I could. So I'm re-reading SP, and scared myself. I get chills shen the American Council is mentioned because I think: I can say I was part of that. Like in school my English teacher whom I hate saw my signed TMS I accidently grabbed in my morning frenzy and she was shockec I had a signed book and I explained how NJ got me the book and that the next book I had a character appear in and she was stunned. For once. She usually hates me and all as I don't give deeper hidden meaning answers.
If I ever get on Jeopardy my 9th grade English teacher said we have to do this thing for her we called "Deeper hidden meanings" Rosy finger red dawn because it popped up in the Odyssesy so many times we finally learned why.
It's just one of those "I was so alone, and I owe you so much" things for me. Those three people inspired and excited and reassured me before anyone else did.
But I should probably shut up now, because I'm just rambling on and on, and it's probably getting annoying, or eating up comment space, or something like that. Also, I should probably sleep. Also, I think the frustration is gone now, so thank you.

Stressed tendons >.<
I have a problem in my knee, when they make us do Chinese splits, my left knee can't ever stay down, and bends. And when I push it down, it pops.
(This is the same knee that has problems with the tendons, and sometimes the cap will move and pinch one of them)
It's a problem.
I do wish to be careful, but it's really the exercise that kills me the most. Learning the kata and sparring is all fine by me, and we haven't gotten to the weapons (White belt, ayyyy) but it's the exercise.
The master that we keep having is killer.

I wake up at 5:40 every morning help me
My tendon-stressing usually comes after we've done a lot of work on equito (I'm probably not spelling that right, sorry), which isn't technically Krav, but my instructor cares more about teaching me what works than teaching me everything exactly according to the textbook, so we do some of it. And it's all about joints and tendons and things like that. There's some of that stuff in textbook Krav, too. So any time we work on that, even though it's only lightly, the tendons in various places along my arms are stressed until I tap out, which means they hurt for a bit, and we repeat the same exercise a bunch of times before we move on, so I often find that if I bend my hand or elbow a certain way it hurts a little. But it goes away quickly enough. I can understand bad knees, though- my legs are hyperextended, so I have to be super careful not to lean into hyperextension, and if I do, even for a few seconds, it starts to hurt.
