Well then.
As you know, I've been writing. Writing, writing, writing. You don't get to do an awful lot of other things when you're writing. Well, sometimes you do, but not when you have deadlines like these. The short stories I'm writing, all of them, need to be delivered by Wednesday. The first draft of Book Nine needs to be delivered by the middle of next month.
To say I am a tad busy would be something of an understatement.
Of course, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and why would Jack want to be a dull boy? I've been doing things. Reading things. Watching things.
Take this evening, for instance. This evening I watched the last Sherlock of the current season. The first episode of the season was oddly character-driven, at the expense of the central mystery, but I didn't mind that in the least. The second episode, the wedding episode, was hilariously sublime. And the final episode, having Sherlock face off against a truly unique villain... well. It was just wonderful stuff.
And I've been reading. Stephen King, mostly. Going over his early works. His classics. When I was a kid, I went straight from The Three Investigators and the Hardy Boys to Stephen King and these wonderfully violent and detailed Gold Eagle books like The Executioner and Able Team and Phoenix Force, books that gave you diagrams of the weapons they used at the back of the book. Basically, I graduated from kids books to horror and action. And after a few Stephen King books like Cujo (the first King book I can remember reading) I went on to James Herbert and Shaun Hutson — overtly violent and brilliantly horrific.
And now, after all this time, I'm going back to Stephen King, and loving it all.
Recommendations? Read The Stand. Then read It. Two MASSIVE books. You won't be sorry.
So these things have been my break from the writing. Christmas, for me, was mostly about the short stories. But there was one story...
It started off fine. Exactly as I planned. It would be a new kind of story, something I hadn't really tried before. It would probably end up as one of the longer stories of the collection, though, but not by much.
I thought.
I have just finished it. Half an hour ago, I finished it. At the moment, before edits, it is over 20,000 words long. That's twice as long as The End of the World. So you'll be reading through Armageddon-Outta-Here (haw!), and hopefully enjoying the stories, and then you'll get to this brand new novella, a good, solid chunky story, and I think this story alone will make the collection worth the money.
I think. I hope. Right now I'm far too tired to form a coherent opinion. All I know is, I've been working hard. And it's not over yet.

Tyler Oakley has been getting death threats and losing followers by the thousand tonight, after getting into a bit of a spat with One Direction star Liam Payne.
Liam tweeted Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson earlier in the evening saying:
“@williebosshog huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold. big fan”
The message was thought to refer to the fact that in December 2013, Willie’s dad Phil Robertson was suspended by TV network A&E over remarks he made in a which were widely-reported in the media as “anti-gay” and bigoted. The suspension started a nationwide debate about tolerance, homophobia and religion. Following public pressure on A&E to lift the suspension, the patriarch was reinstated nine days later and Duck Dynasty continued.
Youtube star Tyler was livid when he read the tweet.
As an openly gay star, who has interviewed and met One Direction on many occasions and was even invited along to take part in 1D Day last November, Oakley was disappointed in the Little Things singer and he tweeted him saying:
“Wow. Very confused and disappointed by this @Real_Liam_Payne tweet. This literally changes everything.”
Tyler added:
“If you defend someone actively supporting bigotry, homophobia, and ignorance, we’re not on the same wavelength to even have a discussion.”
The star was bombarded by death threats, told to commit suicide and inundated with hateful messages. He replied:
“I live for the ignorance in my replies right now. I’ve never seen so many tweens telling me to kill myself and to leave the fandom. Amazing.”
Oakley continued:
“I’m okay with losing followers over this; I’d rather give LGBT teens support than look the other way & accept bigotry to appease a fan base.”
“LGBTQ youth: I support you, and if you’re ever feeling alone or discriminated against, you can talk to @TrevorProject. <3″
Liam just responded to the craziness that is breaking out online and explained his comments saying:
“Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say.”
He told a fan:
“always assuming , makes twitter no fun and no point”
He denied having a problem with gay people and continued:
“….im being called something im not , people can love who they want , its none of my business”
” i just like the show and i love when families stick together, i havent said i agree with all that theyve ever said”
“also i was severely bullied all through school , i would never wish that feeling on anyone”
Liam has already apologised on Twitter this week after his friend shared a picture of him walking on a ledge on the 37th floor of his London apartment building.
Tyler replied to Liam and posted:
“@Real_Liam_Payne Thank you for being accountable for your words and explaining your intention. They have more weight than you realise.”
Fan reaction to the issue has been mixed and one Twitter user commented:
“As a gay fan who drove 10 hours to see @onedirection I would be so dissapointed to know that @Real_Liam_Payne is homophobic.”
However another wrote:
“tyler oakley is overreacting liam didn’t even tweet the guy that’s homophobic.”
A third said:

Emerald, I'm not exactly offended about it, you can use whatever words you want in your roleplays :) I just suggest that maybe, if you were going to continue down that line, you might want to do it on your blog, rather than Derek's. Even though up in the Northern hemisphere it may be a little late for the younger members to be logged in, it's actually just turning 12pm over in Aus and it is similar in NZ.

1. It's only 8 o'clock where I am, earlier in other parts of the world. 2. If other people have been doing it, that's regrettable, but you're the only one here now that I see. 3. Hand in shirts is explicit enough for me. 4. There was a time when swearing was kept to a minimum in Blogland. Is it possible we could *at least* keep explicit references out of the equation? 5. (I laugh. Neither of you have been on the blog in how long?? And suddenly just because you come in at a scene in which everyone has gone through and will go through in their lifetime, you think you have the right to tell me what to do.
I don't take orders from teenagers. And anytime it was getting to the point of being 'explicit' I have always pulled the character back because naturally a first time is nerve wrecking.
If I wanted to write porn on Derek's blog, I would have written it by now, I haven't. I have been very PG-13 at the very least and it has not gotten any more serious then that.

I hate the way adults expect teenagers to get through school and family drama and friend drama and basically life when they don't understand anything.
I may only be 13, but I've been through a lot of things that most Leaving Certs in my school have never experienced.
(I know this because my school had a survey thing about "have you ever had a mental illness" and we had to collect the results. Tbh I would have filled in "no", but you know.)
I'm getting sick of lying in my bed every night, staring at the ceiling and totally despising both myself and my life.

Again, it's part of my theory that many teenagers are depressed is added because from the transition from being a kid and thinking the world is innocent, to being a teenager and finding out that lots of bad things happen.
And a lot of people don't know how to deal with it, and it's sad.. :/

Well, fyi, the only time I can get on the internet is when I can go to the library 15 minutes away from my house for maybe two hours. I do not have internet at home as you do. It's a lot harder for me to be here.
Seriously, this is how you roleplay? To relieve stress? I understand that you have a hectic life [just like everyone else], but this is the wrong way to relieve the stress.
