Well then.
As you know, I've been writing. Writing, writing, writing. You don't get to do an awful lot of other things when you're writing. Well, sometimes you do, but not when you have deadlines like these. The short stories I'm writing, all of them, need to be delivered by Wednesday. The first draft of Book Nine needs to be delivered by the middle of next month.
To say I am a tad busy would be something of an understatement.
Of course, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and why would Jack want to be a dull boy? I've been doing things. Reading things. Watching things.
Take this evening, for instance. This evening I watched the last Sherlock of the current season. The first episode of the season was oddly character-driven, at the expense of the central mystery, but I didn't mind that in the least. The second episode, the wedding episode, was hilariously sublime. And the final episode, having Sherlock face off against a truly unique villain... well. It was just wonderful stuff.
And I've been reading. Stephen King, mostly. Going over his early works. His classics. When I was a kid, I went straight from The Three Investigators and the Hardy Boys to Stephen King and these wonderfully violent and detailed Gold Eagle books like The Executioner and Able Team and Phoenix Force, books that gave you diagrams of the weapons they used at the back of the book. Basically, I graduated from kids books to horror and action. And after a few Stephen King books like Cujo (the first King book I can remember reading) I went on to James Herbert and Shaun Hutson — overtly violent and brilliantly horrific.
And now, after all this time, I'm going back to Stephen King, and loving it all.
Recommendations? Read The Stand. Then read It. Two MASSIVE books. You won't be sorry.
So these things have been my break from the writing. Christmas, for me, was mostly about the short stories. But there was one story...
It started off fine. Exactly as I planned. It would be a new kind of story, something I hadn't really tried before. It would probably end up as one of the longer stories of the collection, though, but not by much.
I thought.
I have just finished it. Half an hour ago, I finished it. At the moment, before edits, it is over 20,000 words long. That's twice as long as The End of the World. So you'll be reading through Armageddon-Outta-Here (haw!), and hopefully enjoying the stories, and then you'll get to this brand new novella, a good, solid chunky story, and I think this story alone will make the collection worth the money.
I think. I hope. Right now I'm far too tired to form a coherent opinion. All I know is, I've been working hard. And it's not over yet.

I had one earthquake ever. It was the last week of summer and Mom had work so did Dad. I was home until Dad got home and was napping I sat in my dinning room on the laptop, and suddenly my laptop was shaking and so was my chair and myself and I hid in a doorway and it stopped, Dad had a news channel on but the Soap Opera was on but then it was breaking news tthat an earthquake hit so I text my mom and brother both down at the school and they all felt it and were safe. I kinda freaked and my friwnd was near the point it happened so she text me she was alright and yeah it was scary

Something weird happened today.
Okay, they've changed the shop round at ROckcity, so now the skateboards are by the sofa opposite the counter (I take great pleasure in sitting on that sofa. I spent about two years (the duration of me being in the teenage session) without EVER sitting on it (unless I was waiting behind at the end of the session beacsue my mum was late) beacsue other people were always sitting there, but nowadays, they don't, and I can come in and sit in the sofa and I get great satisfaction form it), and anyway, I was looking at the skakeboards, as you do (the purple one with a skull on it that is kind of pretty and awesome that was there over two years ago when I used to sit by the steps with these girls who don't come rockclimbing anymore is STILL THERE. Not sold. I feel kind of bad for it. Also, if I had to choose which skateboard I wanted, which I wouldn't coz I don't skateboard, I would choose that skull one. I like it. There's this one that says "I DON'T LIKE SKATEBOARDING" or summat though and that's cool. :P), and there was this one sort of hidden behind a cabinet, and it said "KNOW YOUR" and then another word that was hidden to me, and I was thinking "Know your shit? Know your stuff?" and I leant over to see the hidden word, and it said "KNOW YOUR ROOTS", and then I looked at the tree symbol at the other end of the skateboard and I was oh yeah I remember seeing that one a few minutes ago and thinking "Trees. Roots. Ha."
But then I was like - "How did I see it when I can't see it from here?"
And like O_O.
The obvious explanation is that I saw it as I was sitting down or something (even though I'm pretty sure I turned the corner, thought SOFA, sat on it, though DRINK, and yeah, but stilllll . . .).
However, it's cooler to believe I have special powers and saw through the layers of reality. :P

Here to post this because y'all should read it and appreciate Miss Perfect over there.
Can today be appreciate Adra day because she really doesn't get the appreciation that she deserves. I mean, she's so fucking perfect and she puts up with so much shit. She's so honest all of the time too - she's so blunt in the best possible way. She can make you feel better with just a few words. She's hilarious. She's intelligent and she's gorgeous. She's proof that you don't have to decide between beauty and brains; you can have both. She's so sincere, too. And she never seems to be capable of comprehending her own importance and sometimes I wonder if Adra knows she's a hero. I doubt it so damn much.
Anyway, Adra doesn't get the appreciation she deserves and I think Adra needs to be celebrated more, because she's the true meaning of awesome; the fact that she is herself fills me with awe. I'm so thankful that Adra exists and I'm even more thankful that she's in my life. I don't deserve a friend as wonderful as her and I doubt I would, even if I lived my life a billion times over and made all the right decisions. I'm sure I would never deserve her as a friend.
