This year is the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who. To celebrate, Puffin Books asked eleven different authors to take a Doctor and write a story. When I was asked, I said I'd only do it if I could write for the tenth or eleventh incarnation. Puffin gave me Ten. I was a happy bunny.
It was such a joy to write this character. As you all know, I've been a fan of the show since I was a kid, and David Tennant holds joint top-spot with Matt Smith as my favourite Doctor. In my opinion, it was Tennant's era when the Doctor's love of dialogue really came out— that quick-fire patter that he does so well — and it was an absolute pleasure to channel that.
The Mystery of the Haunted Cottage will be released as an e-book on October 23rd (my birthday! Skulduggery's deathday!) and then it, along with the other stories, will be collected into a PHYSICAL book which will be out near the end of November.
There will be a video released in a week or two where I talk more about it, but in the meantime, here's a link to a snippet (which explains where the somewhat old-fashioned title comes from...)

Star, I kind of made the after-effects of the Reapers up. Mass Effect 3 finishes as soon as they're defeated. So we don't KNOW that it'll be beneficial, it's just my take on what could have happened next. So it could have been bad for everyone, due to all the people that were killed. Billions of people were killed in the fight against the Reapers.
All you know at the end of Mass Effect 3 is that Cerberus has been destroyed, as have the Reapers. And how many people survive or die depends on the choices you've made across the games. In my story, I've made Commander Shepard and his squad survive because that's kind of what I'm aiming for.
I also mentioned peace between the Geth and the Quarians. Unfortunately that wasn't an option on my game and I had to destroy the Geth. I just made up the after-effects of the peace and stuff. It isn't from experience.
It's like the Quarians. I only have a brief knowledge of what they actually look like. I've seen some bones, and they're definitely humanoid. I've seen a bad picture that ones of the characters gave me of one from the side. But other than that I have idea. So I just made it up.

Star, kk. ^^ And as for the Quarians, the picture I actually have (if you romance a character on Mass Effect 3, as far as I'm aware they all give you a picture as a present), and since I pressed the wrong button in Mass Effect 2 whilst speaking to a character who is a Quarian, I ended up with a picture of a Quarian without their helmets. But it wasn't very clear because it was taken on their home world where there was lots of sun so it wasn't the best picture. That kind of formed the basis, and judging by the skulls I saw they're like human-shaped. So I kind of based their look on a human but with an alien kind of tinge.
