Laura was meant to come round yesterday to pick up her copy, but instead she's calling round tonight. While I wait for her to arrive, I've been going over the word counts to all the books so far. I'm very surprised by the first four books— for some reason, I thought everything I've written had been over 80,000 words. Apparently not.
Skulduggery Pleasant was 67,393 words.
Playing With Fire was 69,683.
The Faceless Ones was 69,689.
Dark Days was 77,335.
And now we see the numbers start to jump...
Mortal Coil was 104,000.
Deathbringer was 118,000.
Kingdom of the Wicked was 134,765.
And the second draft of Last Stand of Dead Men is coming in at a back-breaking 156,688 words. Basically, it's twice the length of Dark Days.
I don't know how long it'll be after the edit, but hopefully I'll be able to trim it down a little.

My brother fell off the tiple-tail bar and broke his arm when he was five . . . the school thought he'd just hurt his wrist coz it looked a bit red (INCOMPETANCE!) so they phoned my parents to pick him up. My mum was at a fairly important meeting with one of the cars, and the other car was at its MOTs, so my dad, who always cycles to work unless snow or something, came from work on his bike to pick my brother up. They rode home on my dad's bike, with my brother just on the rack thingy hanging on with his broken arm . . . ! When my mum got home, she knew he wasn't right so she took him to hospital and only THEN did anyone realise he'd broken his arm. My dad picked us up from school (he rarely ever ever ever ever does, it's usually our mum) and that's when me and my sister found out. We came home and he was just all . . . hmm . . . *searches for words* He just sat there and didn't really say much and was just all tired and stuffs. It was like he was ill, you know. In pain, obviously. Then he had a cast on his arm for weeks. He still has it under his bed, chopped in half though. It STINKS, incidentally. Obviously he couldn't wash his arm with it on . . . I think he couldn't have showers with it and had to like hold his arm up in the bath. :)
. . . I got slightly sidetracked, but my point is, I know how you feel, and he'll be fine and it will be a memorable experience to look back on. :)

I just realized the problem. It's nearly three and I haven't had lunch. Dad and Nel are out and Mom probably had the leftovers I didn't eat for breakfast (see, I was sneaky and I got to have some before she ate them all!).
So I'm going to make myself some lunch and hopefully be back in a better mood.

(Wasn't the Valley of the Kings there in Merlin . . . ? Yeah? Anyway, the whole avlley-of-kings forest thing, that gap, amkes me think of giants. Giant stone statues of giants, maybe? Taht sort of place. Giant stone statues amoungst the trees, covered in ivy . . . )
