Just to let you know that World Book Day is this Thursday (well, it is in this part of the world, anyway) and to celebrate Alex Barclay and myself will be holding two events. The first, in Kildare, is pretty much sold out, but the second one is in Easons in O'Connell Street, Dublin, at 6 PM. We'll be there, talking about... stuff... and books... and writing... and, er... annnnnyway...
Because this is somewhat last minute, I'm not expecting that many people to turn up to the Dublin event, which means it'll be a lot more casual and chatty than usual. If you're interested, get in touch with Easons to reserve a place, and we'll see you there.

I know what it's like to lose someone. You don't believe it. Then you do, but you wish with all your heart that you didn't. Then there's the waves of pain that make you think living isn't worth it. Everyone thinks that's the worst part. But the worst part for me is seeing the ghosts, everywhere you turn. You can't escape them, can't continue with your life because you feel like it's an insult to them- and what's the point of living when you've lost the best thing in your life?
But Em, you know that Chase would want you to keep living for both of you. I know you're trying your hardest to do that.
The worst ties are special dates, like today. I felt like I was glass- one more blow, and I'd break into a million pieces. But all of us would do anything to support you.
I don't think I'm saying it that well- grief and love don't translate into the English language very well. But we mean every word we say,Em,when we say that we understand your grief and wish there was something we could do to help because we miss him do. Yes, Chase deserves to be remembered, but you're young. You deserve more than giving up your life to remember him. I can say from personal experience that it doesn't stop hurting, and that hole in your life and your heart is never quite filled in, but over time you forget it's there. You'll have a whole life to live. Don't feel guilty if you try to be happy, or f you can't forget him. That's normal. Just stay strong.
