^^Yeah. Well, the song's about this guy who hits his girlfriend because he gets violent when he gets angry. She said something, he got angry, she ended up "soaked in red for what she said." And to me, it sounds as if he's had a lot of girlfriends, but they've all left him because he hurts them. I think it sounds as if he doesn't tell them about his violent urges, though; he pretends to be normal, until one day he snaps. And yet he somehow hopes they'll forgive him and understand. (?)
I feel sorry for him in a way. And I can understand why he'd want to act normal. But I don't think it's ever going to work, and if it does, it's just be like in Disturbed's song Facade. Either way, unhappiness all round

I immediately thought the guy in Hand of Blood should have sang Leave It Alone to his girlfriend first so the situation in Hand of Blood hopefully wouldn't occur. Notice the hopefully. I dislike violence, for the most part. Non-violence is good, I think.
But then I remember that HURTS was brought into existence because of what was effectively a drunken bar fight. This makes me question my beliefs.

Never get into an abusive relationship. My mum said sometimes women stay in them because they think they can change the men and make them better, but they can't and they'll never get better. I frowned inwardly at this, because I thought well they sometimes but rarely could do, but after writing about Hunter (who isn't in an abusive relationship. But has violent urges and stuff), then maybe I agree more, because Hunter's never going to be normal.
But anyway. Don't get in one, and if you do, get out of it.

That's part of the reason I love Justin Pierre's lyrics so much. He's always specific or personal in lyrics, but he weaves in multiple meanings and references, for those who choose to look for them. :3
