I'm all achey. I've had a long day and I'm tired. All I want to do is go to bed- and yet going to bed before 2 AM always seems like a waste of time. Like there's something I could be doing, some work I could be getting done...
33,000 words done on Book 8, by the way.
This time last year (January 6th) I started KOTW. I had been hideously delayed because of work to the house I'd been having done, and the deadline was fast approaching. So this year, having 33,000 words done by this stage is something of a relief. I am, of course, assuming that I can continue writing at the same rate. So, er, hopefully I can.
Wrote a cool scene yesterday. It involves Fletcher. It involves blood. It involves AWESOMENESS.

Yeah, exactly. I don't have a problem with people having ded wars just as long as they aren't just dedicating to their 'team'. Because that's just completely dismissing the point of dedications. It would be better just to set out certain actions in order to get points, or else to claim a certain comment number rather than a first.

I worked out today how a song could be evil - an alien virus came to this plamet with the intention of taking over it. This virus is a sound virus. The virus lives in sound. Half an hour in the maximum tune it could live in, and thirty seconds is the minimum. The virus doesn't create sound, it just lives in it. If it wants to live in a new sound . . . it's a very complex process and the circumstances have to be just right, but the virus basically imprints onto a new tune. Actually, the virus is inactively everywhere on this planet - fast reproduction - but it only becomes active in the tune.
This virus is harmful to humans. Every time the tune is sounded, the virus travells along the sound waves, slipping through the gaps in the particles (the virus is very small) and moving along. If one of the viruses (there's lots of them, but they're all the same variation - so far. Can alien viruses mutate? :/) lands on a human, it will release toxins to harm the human. These toxins head for a random gene in the body (I don't know how they pick which gene they go for, it looks random) and break it. This could cause serious problems for the human. Or it could not.
The virus is then stuck on the human and cannot spread unless the human utters the tune that the virus inhabits. Then it could spread to any nearby human.
It also affects animals.
The entire tune has to be uttered to activate the virus. Once the virus is activated, it won't deactive, though it will die after 24 hours. However, inactivated particles are everywhere. They reproduce real fast. So don't think you're safe when your virus infecting you dies, if you survived the first time.
You cannot gain immunity to this virus. It's alien. Our bodies cannot fight it off. They don't even know they have to. It doesn't register on our systems until the gene gets broken, and then our bodies still do nothing, as they cannot sense where the virus or its toxins are. Too small.
The toxins are intelligent. They all break the same gene and once thwy have taken over a cell, they get it to reproduce new toxins and then the new toxins slide out of the cell (small, remember) and infect other cells, breaking the gene in that nucleus also.
The virus doesn't infect every human who hears the song. They only latch onto one if they're lucky. And sometimes the virus dies before any genes are broken. Qyite often, actually.
Eventually the virus will have killed everyone on the planet and the aliens will take it for themselves.
The tune they have imprinted themselves on is, of course, Down With The Sickness. LISTENING TO IT COULD BE BAD. SINGING IT IS WORSE COZ THE SONG IS INSIDE YOUR MOUTH AND THROAT. STAY AWAY FROM IT IF YOU WANT TO LIVE.
