As you obviously know, Valkyrie sees the vision where she kills her parents. And her parents call her Stephanie.
Now, at the point where Kingdom Of The Wicked is, that is presumably two books away. A lot can happen in two books.
Oh, and Val says, "Don't make me watch it again" or something when they die.
Here's basically what I'm trying to prove.
When I first read Dark Days, it actually didn't occur to me that the future Val was presumably referring to watching the vision when she was saying not to watch them die again. I thought that future Val meant that they might have been fake and she kept having to watch them die over and over again, that's why she wasn't being emotional.
Also, that might not have been Valkyrie. Who says it isn't the reflection? The reflection calls itself Stephanie. Now, think, if all that stuff was happening around everyone, the world was falling to bits, magic was being used, etc., you'd expect Val's parents to know about the whole Valkyrie Cain thing. It's inevitable. With the reflection being crazy and stuff and calling itself Stephanie, maybe her parents don't want to call Valkyrie that. So if they were shouting Stephanie, they might have been talking to the reflection. That's another possible reason for not being emotional.
So now let's say that future Val was really the reflection, Stephanie. That might be Darquesse, meaning Valkyrie is somewhere else doing something.
The wave of shadows that killed her parents might not have been from Darquesse, then. It might have been Vile, as a separate entity from Skulduggery.
So, uh, to try to piece it together...
The reflection could be Darquesse, Vile killed her parents, who weren't actually her parents.
(It sounds better when I explain it in person, trust me)
