My editor Nick came over for it, so we were chatting about the Tanith novella and he reckons it needs only the barest of edits. What does that mean for you guys? It basically means it'll stay at around the 54,000 word mark and I won't have to cut anything out. Apart from, apparently, all those mentions of Tanith in a bikini. I sincerely don't see the problem. It's not like I have her running around nekkid or anything.

I think it changes. I've been using different words to describe it at different points in the day, and I can remember it feeling different.
When it's just happy, it's good. When it's just this permanent floaty fizzing you can't get rid of, that's irritating. When you're all jumpyness, that's irritating.

OH MY GOSH today today today in science me and my friend were doing this task with these two boys beacsue Miss put us together, and anyway, one of them did a Gollum voice and HE WAS GOLLUM I'm not even kidding. We told him things to say, like quotes from the film, and he had a few arguments with himself and all, and OH MY GOSH. We were dying of laughter. He WAS Gollum. You know, a few years ago, women were actually trying to gain weight. They wanted curves. In my observation, fashion is always going to change, and if you try to keep up with it it either has to be the focus of your life, or it'll run you over. So I just ignore it and wear what I want, and look how I want to, and I really don't care what other people think of it. I don't need others to approve of my fashion choices, thanks very much. I can wear men's cargo pants if I want, and I can wear a cloak if I want, and if someone tells me I can't I'll do it anyway. And if I go to a restaurant and want to eat three entrées, I'll do it. And when the waiter looks at me funny, I'll laugh, and then order desert, because I'm still hungry and I love cookie pie. And yeah.

At precisely ten-thirty PM, Eastern US time, four freelance mages received a phone call. Or essentially the same, anyway. Each was from a different unrecognized number and the names inserted in the blanks varied accordingly, but it was essentially the same pre-recorded phone call.
An item had been stolen from a private collection, and if they did not track it down by midnight, the world would end. They were each given a code name with one letter. The organizer, or as he preferred to consider himself, the Conductor, had used numbers once, but now he thought of that as cold-hearted.
These weren't numbers he was sending into what was probably a trap.
These were real people.
A carefully pulled the tiny earpiece out of her ear and reminded it, listening to the message again. She smiled slightly. She hadn't had fun like this in ages. She grabbed her pack of burglary equipment and donned her ski mask. Time for some...verification.
B scanned through various databases, searching for the item in question. As near as he could discern, it didn't exist. And then he stumbled upon an encrypted website, a page that didn't exist unless approached from the right direction. His fingers flew across the keys as he tried to find a way in.
C frowned uncertainly. She had no reason to believe this call, but she had to at least entertain the possibility that it was true, or she would hate herself for it later. At the same time, though, she was nervous, and something didn't feel right about this. She fidgeted, running through options in her mind.
D's phone rang and rang without an answer. The Conductor triggered the message after the tone, and hoped D wasn't the kind of person who never checked their voicemail.
