It's my 38th birthday.
First of all, thank you for all the birthday wishes I've been reading online. You care, you really care... sniffle... It almost made up for the fact that I will have no birthday cake today, and I have no one to sing me happy birthday. But that's fine. That's okay. I was woken up this morning by a birthday text, which would have started my day off with a smile were it not for the fact that the text was from O2, my phone provider...
Even so, thank you, O2. It's nice to know you care.
Before you feel TOO sorry for me, I celebrated my birthday last Saturday, when we combined it with a Halloween party because three of my nieces will be down the country on Halloween night. So, y'know... my birthday was hijacked by three princesses and a pirate. But that's fine.
So, what did I GET for my birthday? I shall tell you. I got a remote controlled toy car! From my brother and sisters! They got me a remote controlled toy car! Yes! They did! For no reason! For no reason I can possibly comprehend, they got me a remote controlled toy car! Thank you, brother and sisters! Just what I've always wanted but could never put into words! Joy of joys!
So, after picking myself up from the floor, it was my mother's turn to give me the present from my folks. It was a shirt! A shirt! A blue shirt! But not just any kind of blue shirt! A blue denim shirt! DENIM! The most awesome material you could possibly make a shirt FROM! A blue denim shirt!
Truly, I am blessed. It's not like when their birthdays come around I buy them computers or TVs or designer handbags. Nope. That's not what happens at all.
So you wait, my family! You just wait till your birthdays roll around again! You cannot BEGIN to guess what WONDER of a present I shall be buying you!

The scene begins somewhere in rural Indiana, where an abandoned pickup truck sits by the side of a highway. All the tires are flat, including the spare, and all the windows have been shattered. The hood has been torn off, and various auto parts litter the road and surrounding farmland.
A horrible accident? No, even the casual passerby who knew very little about cars would have to think that this destruction is far too thorough to have happened by coincidence. Of course, at this time of night, this far out in the country, there aren't likely to be any passersby, not until tomorrow morning, bright and early.
Before we start on how the truck was uncovered, however, let us begin at the beginning, with how the truck came to be by the side of the road in the first place. The beginning, as it happens, is the story of a seventeen-year-old girl named Lizzy.

Musicians who do everything for the fans and for their love of music. There's hundred of artists and bands out there who are like this but I want to highlight the Hilltop Hoods.
The Hilltop Hoods are a three piece Aussie Hip-Hop band that come from Adelaide in Australia. They are currently my music idols and sit up there on a podium with Derek Landy. So basically, they get the same level of worship as the Golden God. Anyway, Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris are three musicians who I personally believe know what's up. They've always been in the industry because of their love for music and they respect their fans so much.
My accelerated English teacher had a friend who broke her leg a couple of months before their concert and she was so upset because there was only a mosh pit since it was at a small venue. So she tweets her story to the Hilltop Hoods and they tell her that she can still come and watch the show from side stage.
There's another story where this 15 year old boy had all their Cd's and vinyl's, everything and so he went to their pop-up shop to get it all signed. And so Suffa asks if he's missing anything from his collection and the boy says, that there was this vinyl that was never released and might not of existed that he wanted. And Suffa said he's look around and if he found a spare one, the boy could have it. So Suffa gets home and goes through his stash, finds out he has two of this vinyl, and sends it to the kid.
They are just so driven by their fans and have so much respect for the support that they are being given. In their song "I'm a Ghost" of their latest album, Walking Under Stands they have so many good lines that just perfectly some up what I'm trying to say.
Went from going through quotes in the liners
To being known for the shows on the fliers
Playing packed rooms, heading to the backroom
To cool down my face with some ice from the rider
Looking out to a crowd full of lighters
And the day those lights don't inspire us
You'll see me walking out, I'm a ghost, I'm gone
To me, in their chorus they're literally saying that if one day the fans don't inspire them, that if one day they feel nothing. They'll stop. Because they don't want to be anything that they weren't at the beginning.

They also have this song just saying a massive f you to inequality. In "Speaking in Tongues, ft. Chali 2na" they spend 4:03 trying to make difference to the effed up world we live in.
I can't use words to explain how thankful I am for these guys being there. They have songs with lines that make me laugh so hard, they have songs that reduces me tears, they have songs that inspire me to good great things, and songs that I can sing when I beat my opponent and I just am so thankful that the fane hasn't gone to their heads. Because you see that a lot.
So I'm dedicating this page to the Hilltop Hoods and every other musician who is out there changing lives and standing for the right things.
