Well, C was being homophobic. I was telling her about Blace from AVEN and how she thinks single mothers cause all the problems of the world, because it's ridiculous (apparently, single mothers are to blame for rape because most rapists were probably brought up by single mothers. Wtf), and C was like "My aunty is a single mother, and she's fine" and then she was like, "Well, I think her little girl might be a lesbian, though" and I was like "What's wrong with that?" and she was like "Well - she's GAY!" and I was like "What's wrong with that?"

Plus at some other point before this, she was saying how this boy in our year's friend said that aforementioned boy was straight, and C was just like "I'm sorry, but he is DEFINITELY GAY" and I was like "How do you know?" and she was like "Well, beacuse he IS!" and I was like "How do you know?" and she was like "Well, he just acts WAY too gay not to be gay!" and I was liek "Actions don't dictate sexuality. Plus, how do you mean he ACTS GAY?" and she draw a line on the lunch table with her finger and tapped at one side of the line and said "This is homosexual, right," and tapped on the other side of the line and said "And this is straight" and I was like "Ooh, where am I??" and she was like "You're . . . floating around in space somewhere" waving her hand above her makeshift not-draw-out diagram.

And then she went on to say that he was so far over the side of the gay line that they couldn't even SEE him, and that no one who was THAT gay could possibly NOT be gay.
(Which, of course, is rubbish. Behaviour =/= sexuality. But still. I float in space. I'm cool. :P)

TOTALLY AGREE
When I'm on the Gender Discussion section of AVEN, so many people come on like "Well, I don't know what my gender is, because I like doing such-and-such activity which is feminine, and I like doign such-and-such activity which is masculine -"
- and we're just like "-_- traits =/= identity."
We've pretty much established that gender =/= gender roles, but gender is influenced by gender roles as they are a good point of reference.
On another note on the same subject -
why is it okay for females to cross the gender divide and not males? :/ If girls want to do some 'masculine' activity like playing with Lego or playing football, the entire world is just like "YES GO AND DO THAT BECAUSE YOU ARE A STRONG FEMALE AND YOU MUST NOT BOW TO AGRESSION, GO DESTROY THOSE GENDER ROLES," but when a boy wants to do ballet or dress up as a princess it's just like "no you mustn't do that because you're a boy and it's just wrong for boys to do that, boys must do x y z and be x y z."
