Mike, yes. I have them books. Vampire Blood, Vampire Rites, Vampire War and Vampire Destiny. The book called The Lake of Souls is amazing. And so is the last one, I love the last one. But prepare for a HUGE shock near the end of Hunters of Dawn or something like that... I mean a serious shock...

And don't you just hate that part where Darren smacks open the legs of that kid?! Mike, she does come back and plays a big part in the end along with someone you meet in Hunters of Dawn. And also, in the next few books you will meet something called Harkat... in The Lake of Souls you get to know something about him which is really unexpected. Something which happens in The Vampire Prince I think it is... someone who dies. You need to read them Mike, the stories are epic after the one's you're reading.
And then Darren at the end of that book agrees to do the trials of death (I'M SURE THAT'S THE NAME!) and he doesn't really realise what he's getting himself into!
Aquila, the 'finger' thingy that Mike is talking about is used by the vampires in the Darren Shan books. The vampire cuts the tips of the fingers of his human wannabe so they bleed, and does the same to his own. Then they press their fingers together and the vampire blood flows into the human and therefore making him a vampire. It depends how long you keep them joined, people can be a half or full vampire. Half vampires have extra speed, agility, strength and senses, but not as much as a full vampire, but can come out in the daytime. A full vampire can communicate telepathically to other vampires and trace them using something called "The Stone of Blood", then they can "Flit" which is just moving very very quickly. They can't come out in the daytime, but they have healing spit and more power than the half vampire. They have knock out breath and can live for hundreds of years, half vampires live a long time but still age quickly compared to the full vampires.
Mike, it's not Harkat's friend. (lefty's friend because Harkat IS lefty) it's more about who Harkat is himself... just keep an eye out for someone called Kurda Smahlt...
